These are some illustrations for The Divide,  painted by 16-year-old Caeleigh Graven.  I really like them!

Brazil!

After six trips to not see leopards and three trips to not see tigers, my first trip to not see jaguars didn't live up to expectations. Here are a selection of photos from my holiday to Brazil.

Female jaguar
Yellow-beaked cardinals
Crane hawk
Iguana
Toucan

China

I shall be away for the next three weeks or so - and hopefully, I shall have some photos of pandas to post when I get back.

Sparrowhawk feeding

This young sparrowhawk caught a collared dove in our garden, and ate it beneath the bay tree. The magpies were all very interested, and kept darting in to snatch a beakful. It's been a good year for young birds - these peregrines were nesting a couple of miles away. Sorry about the quality of these - I was in a rush to capture the moment.

Mr and Mrs Bluetit - an everyday tale of the Paridae family from Leatherhead.

If the Bluetits decide to buy the property featured below, via Snowball, Snout & Sniffly, estate agents to the animal kingdom, I shall start a separate blog. This will be a new soap from Nestbox Productions, detailing the highs and lows of raising a family in the competitive world of small avians.

Mrs Bluetit is contemplating buying that twig she's had her eye on for some time.

Mr Bluetit is wondering whether he can afford it.
