WHITE EARTH, Minn. — The Bureau of Indian Affairs came in for some heavy criticism here Saturday at a rare oversight field hearing of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee attended by U.S. Sens. Al Franken of Minnesota and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota.

White Earth Tribal Chairwoman Erma Vizenor pointed out it was the first such hearing in memory to be held on an Indian reservation.

WASHINGTON, D.C. [09/09/10:]—Yesterday, U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken (D-Minn.), Reps. Up until three years ago, the medical device start-up NeuroVasx Inc. looked like it was on a trajectory to success.

The Maple Grove company raised $33 million and developed a product to treat very large brain aneurysms, which can lead to strokes. In 2007, the company submitted a 510k application to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) — a type of regulatory approval that requires the applicant to show that its product is similar to one already on the market.
