MinnPost: Minnesota-Duluth icers take a White House victory lap
WASHINGTON — The defending national champion University of Minnesota-Duluth women's hockey team have been here before.

WHITE EARTH, Minn. — The Bureau of Indian Affairs came in for some heavy criticism here Saturday at a rare oversight field hearing of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee attended by U.S. Sens. Al Franken of Minnesota and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota.
White Earth Tribal Chairwoman Erma Vizenor pointed out it was the first such hearing in memory to be held on an Indian reservation.

The Uptake: MN Gets $166 Million In Federal Education Funds
WASHINGTON, D.C. [09/09/10:]—Yesterday, U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken (D-Minn.), Reps. Jim Oberstar and Tim Walz (D-Minn.), and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded Minnesota $166.7 million in funds for teachers, school counselors and other education staff. The Packer: J&J Distributing recognized for conservation efforts
Minnesota Sens. Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar recently paid a visit to J&J Distributing, St. Paul, Minn., to recognize the company's efforts to conserve energy and create jobs.

Star Tribune: Minnesotans in Congress weigh in on FDA changes
Up until three years ago, the medical device start-up NeuroVasx Inc. looked like it was on a trajectory to success.
The Maple Grove company raised $33 million and developed a product to treat very large brain aneurysms, which can lead to strokes. In 2007, the company submitted a 510k application to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) — a type of regulatory approval that requires the applicant to show that its product is similar to one already on the market.
