The Dark by James Herbert

I'm currently rereading The Dark by James Herbert. According to internet sources, Herbert's more than 19 novels have sold over 48 million copies worldwide. Dude is legit, frequently hailed at the time as the British Stephen King. I love James Herbert. I recommend The Dark, The Rats, The Jonah, The Fog, The Spear and for something vastly different, his novel Fluke, which was also made into a 1995 film starring Matthew Modine, Eric Stolz, Ron Perlman and others. Good film. Great book. I am a Herbert fan. The Dark is my favorite novel of his and one of my all-time favorite reads. Published in 1980, I was maybe 10 or slightly older when first introduced to The Dark. Unsure how it made it's my way into my hands but it made an impression. The violence and sex made my youger self wonder if I should keep reading, if I should be reading this at all. It made an impact then and now. It's been maybe 10 or 20 years or longer since I've read The Dark. I bought a copy from Ebay, the same publication I had as a kid with that great shadowy face cover art. My problem being is there a known issue with the ink or the paper because that font is a hell of a lot smaller than I remember? Maybe my copy is cursed. James Herbert
