Updated version of Gryphon 3 loaded onto Smashwords, Amazon and Lulu

Fan art by Ambra
Despite doing Nanowrimo under a different pen name, I have been working on the updated version of Gryphon 3. I recently loaded place holder files, where nine out of the eleven chapters were done, but right now I’m loading up the finished versions, including the much needed spell check after all the edits. Can’t believe how many heaveny instead of heavenly I found.
Anyhow, Lulu will of course be slow and send the good version to Nook and iTunes, but you won’t see the new one there for a few weeks. Sync your machines in a couple of weeks. Amazon should have the good version some time very early tomorrow morning. And Smashwords will have it very quickly, though I’m not sure how long it takes for the changes to reflect on Sony and elsewhere.
Most of the changes to G3 are minor involving the weeding of -ly suffix overuse. There’s a tiny new bit with Ufrid and Nicky at the monastery. I updated Ugoth's reaction to Herfod's red hair, and now his behaviour is more in line with his gut feelings and motivations.
Ok, and now I must catch up on Nano.

Gryphon 2 just had its final ever weeding
Ok. So in case you haven’t read the earlier posts concerning my terrible curse called the endless edit, I suffer a terrible curse called the endless edit. Over the years, every time I’ve learned a new thing about writing, I’ve suffered the urge to take another pass through all my older works and check them for the thing I learned about.
Well, I always got tired by the time I reached Gryphon 2, which is my second oldest novel in the series. On each editing pass, I’d been through the three Bound novels and Gryphon 1 before reaching G2, and by the time I started a new edit of G2, my eyes were crossed, my mind blurred, the body tired from hunching before the computer.
And then along came ePUB. After I figured out how to convert my stories into ebooks, I was able to read them on a nice little gadget while lying in bed or on the couch, and that’s when I at last read my books like a reader, rather than an author and editor who had strained her brain through a sieve. This time, I spotted the clumsy stuff that I could no longer see when I had been using MS Word.
And so, the curse fired up. The endless edit seized upon Gryphon 2, and I wiped out more of the clumsies.
What were they? Prose weakeners like he felt, was feeling, he saw, could. I also killed off a lot more adverbs. I feel good about Gryphon 2. It doesn’t need another endless edit. It’s done.
I’m in the process of loading the latest version to all the venues. Smashwords will have it up quickly, of course. Lulu will as well. Amazon will take around twelve hours. The other places, like Sony, iTunes and Nook, which get their files from Smashwords or Lulu, will take longer to load up the new version, so please check in about two to three weeks for updated files.
And there you have it. One step closer to killing off the endless edit’s interest in the earlier Soulstone Chronicle novels. Then I will be able to concentrate without reservation on the newer ones.
Oh, for those who have read G2 already, there’s a new small section near the end of Chapter Nine, just before the bit where Ugoth out-manoeuvres Ambassador Koe. It’s a little scene with Herfod and Hanicke, where we actually get to be with them while he does up her hair for the banquet.
Here’s hoping I can get through G3 before Nanowrimo.

The Gryphont Taint: Volume One is free on Amazon

Fan art by Ambra, based on the beasts in The Soulstone Chronicles, a very large fairy tale. With no sign of fairies so far. The small type, I mean.
At last, I have two books of The Soulstone Chronicles free on Amazon as well as at various other ebook vendor sites, Bound in Stone 1 and The Gryphon Taint 1.
I also received a review for Gryphon 2 on Smashwords from tomwild, who says:
Frontain is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Love this series and am now delving into Book 3 of Taint. Samdarius gave an excellent review. I can’t improve on it. Read this author. You won’t be disappointed.
Thank you very much, tomwild.
