Basically I became interested in becoming a writer after reading Terry McMillan’s novel Disappearing Acts. In 2004 my author dreams were realized via the release of my controversial debut novel My Daughter’s Boyfriend, the story of a 34-year old single mother that becomes attracted to her teenage daughter’s boyfriend.

I love writing about marriage, infidelity, juicy love triangles, family, romance, women's issues, and male/female relationships. It never gets boring to write about what human beings go through.

My novels make you think and feel! If it doesn't do that, I haven't done my job.

My novels/interviews have been featured in USA Today, Black Beat Magazine, Publishers Weekly, Jewel Magazine, Today's Black Woman, Vibe Vixen, Quarterly Bla

I cannot think of a couple that is more Larger than Life than those two. And the reason i selected them as my favorite fictional couple is because I like how they challenged one another. To me they had a toxic relationship and it was fun to see how Rhett would put Scarlett in her place and do things that would infuriate her and I enjoyed seeing her reaction to him. They had kind of a love-hate relationship that was pretty intense.

Writing is very intense for me and taking time to relax may help.
(2) Sometimes I can think about which characters are in the scene that I'm working on; where are they at exactly, what is about to happen or what just happened? I have to ask myself a few questions and visualize what should come next.(less)

A little info about my books and my inspiration

A reader asked what inspired me to start writing books. I think my answer is I began to think about different scenarios and asked the question what if. And so from there I would think of characters and the different situations they could be in and what happened when they were in those situations. And usually my storylines involve a man and a woman and some dilemma that they're facing and it's g... Read more of this blog post »
