I’m going to just put this here because I don’t how to phrase it or process it properly but I know Cal had lots of admirers on here…

I am utterly, utterly heartbroken that Calvin unexpectedly passed away yesterday in animal hospital.

We raced across the country to say goodbye and to speak to the vet, who seemed as totally shell shocked as we are. The procedure he was admitted for last week was totally routine, run of the mill and completely non invasive. It was the gold standard treatment for Calvin’s hyperthyroid condition. we tried every other treatment and this is considered the absolute safest, one with zero risk of ill effects. Nobody can tell us what happened yet and they said that this has never ever happened before (they are the top animal hospital and leaders in their field for this treatment for over 20 years)

It’s incredibly hard not to feel like I let him down somehow or overlooked something. I had never ever considered this was a possibility and neither did the vet. It’s so hard to hear that there is no explanation. We will hopefully get some answers but it will take a few weeks. I just feel so crushed.

He was my bestest friend, studio assistant and we spent almost every single day together - I would pester him for attention just as much as he pestered me for the same. I know everybody says this about their cat but he truly was one in a million, like no other. Our time with him was cut so short and he has left an absolutely humongous hole in our lives and our hearts.

He was very sweet but I suspect he’s the one who squashed all of our leeks! 😆 Someone or something seems to have been using the mesh we put up over them as a giant trampoline…😂
