~ Frightening Journeys
Someday I hope to meet Nerine Dorman. A South African writer, editor, photographer, model and musician, I "met" her through a Yahoo Group many years ago, and we've been in touch off and on ever since. During that time, I've gone on to publish books, and now she's on the eve of the release of her own first fantasy novel, Khepera Rising. Life does move forward…
This week she did a short interview with me to post at the Frightening Journeys site. You can check it out and say hi to Nerine here.

~ Don't try this on Golden Gate
OK, for everyone who's never gotten to walk or drive across the Golden Gate Bridge… this one's for you. I've done both now (it's much easier to drive it!) On my way back to San Francisco after exploring the small seaside towns of Jenner and Bodega Bay an hour or two north of there, I decided to film my re-entry to urban sprawl. Can't beat the soundtrack that just happened to come in on cue from the radio, either!
Here's the leadup to my "Golden Gate" video: After flying from O'Hare to SFO and ...

~ The Horribly Slow Murderer
I probably won't get to posting about the second half of my San Francisco trip for a bit, but in the meantime, here is perhaps the best horror movie trailer that isn't a trailer of all time:
Thanks to Jeff Strand for finding and poaching this first!

~ Taxi Confessions & Aural Loss
Taxis only show up early when you're not ready. Otherwise, they're late when you really need to be… on the road!
This morning, my cab was early. He sat in the drive as I pulled my son's socks on for him since mom was in the shower, gulped a half cup of coffee re-warmed from yesterday's unemptied pot, and downed a Claritin-D. And then I was off to O'Hare Airport on a Sunday morning… and got there in half the usual time, which means I really could have slept in longer…

~ Decatur, Geneva & Seattle!
Booksignings this week!
Let the tour begin…
[image error]Last weekend, I sent out a hurried edition of my e-newsletter as I was heading out to be an author guest at Zombie Con X in Milwaukee where the paperback edition of The 13TH debuted. If you're not a subscriber to the monthly update, you can join here: www.johneverson.com/list.htm
The con was great fun — and if you ever get a chance to see a movie called The ZomBeatles… all I can say is … DO IT. I'll hopefully get a chance to blog about that trip h...

~ Zombies, Dark Flix & The 13th

OK. It's all about to get crazy again. Tomorrow I'm off to Milwaukee for the weekend to guest at ZombieConX… which will also serve as the launchpad for the mass market paperback release of The 13th. Leisure Books shipped the first box, hot of the press, directly to the hotel… so copies are actually there waiting for me now (I haven't seen a copy myself yet!)
After Zombie Con, I'll be doing a couple events in Illinois before heading off to Seattle for my dayjob's annual convention… though...

~ a SIREN & a Shed
On February 2, 2009, I started writing my fourth novel, SIREN in my usual "writing night" haunt at Rizzo's in Naperville, IL. Six months later, on August 3rd, I finished the final chapter in my usual spot - booth #11 - at Rizzo's. In between were many writing nights at Rizzo's, as well as many early 6 a.m. mornings writing in my home office before heading to work, and late nights in a candle-lit basement, with the Cocteau Twins providing the musical atmosphere. From hard start date to hard ...

~ Under Siege!
Yesterday, a few blocks from where I work, a convicted armed robber escaped from his escort on the way to a court sentencing. The guy changed clothes with one of his former guards, hijacked a car and then ditched it not far away — in the parking lot next to the office building where I work! I gotta tell you, it's hard to get much done when all the buildings and schools in the area go on lockdown, everyone is staring out the windows at the phalanx of police cars parked next door, and the...
