PODCAST: What’s Up With Demon Sex?
President Trump recently spoke in support of a physician who held a minority view on COVID. She has also stated that gynecological ailments might be the result of sex with demons.
Where does this idea come from? Does the Bible have anything to say about it?

PODCAST: Liberty and Virtue During a Pandemic
In a 1787 letter, Benjamin Franklin wrote, “only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.” When I look at how so many conservatives and libertarians are reacting to COVID, it’s hard not to be reminded of Franklin’s words.

PODCAST: Render to Caesar – What do Christians owe to the state?
In this episode, Aree Spivey (artist, Failed Kingdoms) and John A. Dangelo III (writer, antiwarwarvet.com) were my guests to talk about the infamous “render to Caesar” passage from Matthew 22. Does this passage establish that the state has a separate domain from God’s that we owe a special allegiance to? Was Jesus arguing that Christians are obligated to pay taxes? Are illegal immigrants disobeying the command to “render to Caesar” when they enter a country without the state’s permission? Listen and find out!

PODCAST: Breaking Ourselves of Our Breaking Bad Politics
My wife and I recently re-watched the TV show Breaking Bad. If you’re not familiar with the show, it’s about a high school chemistry teacher who starts making crystal meth after a cancer diagnosis, ostensibly to provide for his family after his death. Once his cancer is in remission and he’s earned more money than he could have dreamed of, he continues to build his meth empire, leaving many dead bodies in his path.
But that’s not what I’m here to tell you about.

PODCAST: The Political Common Ground on Racism
In this short episode, I discuss a recent article by conservative columnist David French that points a way forward for conservatives and moderates to address racism alongside progressives without having to go all in on progressive politics.

PODCAST: Why Nonviolence?
I’ve spent a lot of time engaging with conservatives about my Christian nonviolence views. Conservatives tend to be big supporters of the military and the police and believers in gun ownership and self defense, so that’s no surprise. But in light of some of the protests over the police murder of George Floyd turning into riots, I’m seeing a lot of my liberal friends also now justifying violence as a legitimate tool of bringing about social change. So, I’d like to look at scripture, reason, and experience to ask, when it comes to protesting the state, why nonviolence?

In a conversation sure to agitate both conservatives and progressives, Aree Spivey (artist, Failed Kingdoms) and John A. Dangelo III (writer, antiwarwarvet.com) were my guests to talk about Christian libertarian and anarchist perspectives on police violence, COVID-19, and creating a liberty-based society.

PODCAST: How Do I Know if I’m Saved?
In this open invitation Zoom chat, I highlighted the thorny question of how a Christian can know if they’re saved (also called “assurance”), gave some answers from historical Christian figures, and opened the floor up for discussion. This was a great conversation that covered a range of topics from the debate between faith and works to the philosophy of time and whether Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure or Back to the Future is the better time travel movie.
