A Day To Revise

When I was in University one of my Creative Writing Professors told me that the key to good writing was "Revise, Revise, Revise".

I believed him at that point in time, but through the years I have found he lied to me. Of course some revision is necessary and I'm not trying to say it isn't, but revise, revise, revise? Well, I think that's over doing it a bit. I've found that too much revision can destroy a piece of work. Just as over polishing a fine piece of woodwork can wear down and dull the finish, over revision can do the same to your writing until you end up with a dull piece of writing where once it had been polished to perfection.

So, I say to you, my fellow writers, don't overdo it. Revise, of course, but when it's done it's done. Don't over "polish" your writing.
