In Review

So this is Christmas
And what have I done?

*“Happy Xmas” (1971) – liberty taken with the original lyrics by John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

With Christmas forthcoming, another year almost finished, and a new one about to begin—just what have I done over the past twelve months?

I finished writing my second Contemporary Women’s Fiction novel and submitted the manuscript, AN ENLIGHTENING QUICHE, for publication on March 31, 2016. The Paperback (550 pages) was officially published on August 22nd; the Kindle Edition (361 pages) on September 20th. Shortly after the eBook showed up at Amazon, I announced my novel’s release on social media.

Thanks to Advance Readers who volunteered to read the PDF file before my launch party, AN ENLIGHTENING QUICHE earned favorable REVIEWS on Amazon, which served as collateral for marketing and promoting a new launch. For my book cover blurb, I chose this excerpt from the first pre-publication review written by Author, Suzanne Kale—“A deep, warm read weaving together history, karma, synchronicity and chance.”

In October, my novel won UNDERGROUND BOOK REVIEWS’ “Pitch Perfect Pick” of the week, enabling it to become eligible for entry into their 2017 Novel of the Year Competition.

http://ow.ly/DPW2305IZRM

From late September until this point in time, AN ENLIGHTENING QUICHE has received 13 reviews (one 4-Star; twelve 5-Star) and two editorial reviews. http://tinyurl.com/htkxdox

The novel earned a 5-Star Seal from Reviewer, Joel R. Dennstedt for Readers' Favorite, which I have framed. One of the most endearing excerpts—“One cannot know if such writing comes naturally to the author, or if she suffers from the agony of meticulousness required to produce such an exquisite work. The end result hearkens to the classics for its resemblance to such deeply thoughtful plotting, characterization, and the gorgeous prose used in its exposition.”

https://readersfavorite.com/book-revi...

Although position will fluctuate, as of December 9th on GOODREADS, it ranked:

1st out of 70 books in the category “Books Set in Rhode Island”

2nd out of 11 books in the category “Must Reads by New Authors”

3rd out of 55 books in the category “Best Indie Books 2016/2017”

18th out of 811 books in the category “Self-Pub or Indie Books Worth the Read”

18th out of 120 books in the category “Culinary Fiction”

26th out of 202 books in the category “Favorite Books Released in 2016”

116th out of 445 books in the category “Food-Related Fiction”

450th out of 3,109 books in the category “Indie Authors Everybody Should Read”

https://www.goodreads.com/list/book/3...

How did AN ENLIGHTENING QUICHE land on 9 lists? Fellow Indie Authors nominated it.
Why do ranks fluctuate so frequently where you gain and lose a lead? It’s all about authors supporting other authors, sacrificing personal gain to help another attain more visibility to prospective readers by nominating and voting. Thus far, favorable reviews and votes have enabled this quiche to rise to the occasion in 2016.

12 Authors from Around the World Take Over!

Maybe not the entire world, but a corner of it on Facebook through a LIVE author event held on Cyber Monday (November 28th), masterminded and coordinated by our group administrator Alex Abaz. Titled, “Book Bargains: Christmas Shtick with 12 Authors around the World,” twelve authors did just that—stick together!

Merry Christmas from 12 authors around the world:

http://tinyurl.com/j6wjlt9

Buoyed by holiday spirit and team cooperation, each of us did our share to publicize the event well in advance. Here is the historic link leading to interesting, informative, and interactive posts created by each author for our welcome guests:

EVENT:

https://www.facebook.com/events/22458...

Here is our landing page from which avid readers can access each of our 12 books sold at Amazon by clicking on a book cover: http://bit.ly/12best-books

My decision to write this blog is based on my own fascination with “the story behind the book” you won’t find in any synopsis or back-cover bio. Based on that premise, and keeping matters brief, my sincerest intention is to pay tribute to each author’s uniqueness. Intrigued by what I discovered during our Christmas Shtick, a blog was born:

Alex Abaz, author of CATCH THE SPARK WITHIN started off her shtick by sharing photos capturing the beauty and splendor of Toronto, Canada where she resides. Throughout her time slot she presented intriguing photos or videos as backdrop for focal points generating discussion about optimizing our prospects for selling. A hardcore entrepreneur who’s built companies from the ground up, the author has published numerous books on an array of subjects: Internet marketing and poetry & photography. Her sci-fi manuscript, ‘Sweepers,’ is halfway there. She has the uncanny ability to spark interest in many areas of expertise!

Jacqueline Creek, author of THE GIRL WITH THE EMERALD BROOCH, started her own fancy-dress costume manufacturing business and opened a retail outlet, both which grew rapidly, requiring a work force of over thirty people. Supplying many other UK shops with her costumes and exhibiting at Birmingham and London--“I made Pudsey Bear costumes for the BBC along with some of the tatty ones for ‘Last of the Summer Wine.’ After selling her business in 2012, she decided to develop her talents further by joining writing and poetry groups. Members encouraged her to write her life story after hearing her first chapter, and she was presented with a Silver Quill award. Hence, the novel featured on our landing page!

Lisa Dyer, author of SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE, composed a novel that started off as a spec script which earned Second Place in the Prequel to Cannes screenwriting contest, becoming one of 25 scripts competing in the BAFTA/Rocliffe New Writing Forum, before finding a home in print and e-Book with Crooked Cat Books. Featuring characters whose teen years span the late Seventies and early Eighties, the author’s all-time favorite bands of those eras manifest themselves through Hal, the main character who’s into punk/ska/reggae music. No surprise, the book title was inspired by hard-rock song, “Since You Been Gone.”

Vonnie Hughes, author of MR. MONFORT’S MARRIAGE—“I write Regency and Victorian Romantic Suspense and Contemporary Suspense. I try to make my historicals meaty without being didactic. Rules are the bane of my existence. Often those writing rules take me on a journey I did not expect. Ask any writer. I’m a pantster, but I still have to abide by rules such as external and internal goals, motivation and conflict – the stuff that strikes fear into all writers … my writing seems to lend itself to the twists and turns of warped minds à la Ruth Rendell and Jeffrey Deaver.” An artist in the true sense of the word, Vonnie is happiest when she reigns as typist, hammering out a few more lines of psychological suspense.

Catherine Kullmann, author of THE MURMUR OF MASKS, exemplifies a historical fiction writer who is fastidious in perfecting her craft. “I keep a detailed list of all the names I use in a book, broken down into main characters, minor characters and walk-on parts. I also keep a master list of names used in all books. Because I write what I describe as a “loose series” set in the same society, walk-ons in one book may have a leading role in another. I also keep a list of residences.” Besides plotting and reveling in the challenge of evoking a historic era for characters to behave authentically in their period, she can also reproduce an original plum pudding served by Mrs. Cratchit in ‘A Christmas Carol.’

Sean MacCotter, author of OBLIGATION FLIGHT (A Jack Riley Mystery), writes and self-publishes historical fiction novels with heavy doses of adventure and mystery stirred in. Residing in Maryland, the Bay frequently finds its way into his novels. Having written four novels in the last eighteen months, he shared his daily routine—“I try to start at 6 AM weekdays and write for at least two hours. If I get rolling, I'll go for more. Generally, I shoot for a chapter a day. However, I spend at least as much time researching as I do writing. Then editing adds to that, of course. And, I belong to a really tough Writers Group who makes me add more feelings to my characters. I have one noteworthy ancestor (out of thousands), who fit into the plotline of ‘The Key Trilogy,’ of which ‘The Gentleman Adventurer’ is the second book. My other books aren't focused on relatives.” Clearly, this author’s imagination takes flight!

Cathy McGough, author of A MATHEMATICAL STATE OF GRACE: Book One: Fragment, refers to herself as a genre-jumper, having written several books in various categories. She revealed that poetry is her first love, having dreamed of publishing a book called, ‘Painting with Words,’ when she was a teenager. Equally noteworthy, the author takes a unique approach in her INTERVIEW Series featuring “Legendary Authors from Beyond,” where she conducts extensive research in order to flesh out her posthumous subjects so that she actually feels she’s met them all. This author has mastered the knack of infusing new life into beloved and bygone writers of long ago.

Eva Pasco, author of AN ENLIGHTENING QUICHE. I was featured in TIME Magazine shortly after the publication of my first novel in 2008. Eight years later, a “quiche” rose to the occasion. My character-driven novels host personas who plunge the depths of despair in their darkest hours prior to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel through redemption and empowerment. My books are also distinguished for incorporating Rhode Island’s historic landmarks, geographic entities and regional culture.

Gemma Roman, author of THE YEARS OF US, deserves a standing ovation for winning her first NaNoWriMo award by accomplishing 50,045 words in 29 days as of 11/29! By her own admission during the event, “This month has been hectic as I decided to build and launch my website, participate in the NaNoWriMo challenge for the first time, and put in hours at my day job as retail store manager. The author earned an MA and Doctorate at University of Calgary, Alberta, specializing in Modern and Contemporary Latin American Poetry. There’s no telling what her next achievements will be.

Aleigha Siron, author of MY HIGHLANDER. Following the recent discovery of distant Scottish ancestors, she embarked on a trip to the Highlands. Although she had already developed the characters for her featured book, a trip to the Highlands enriched the characters and enhanced the story direction in her first full-length Romance novel. “Who doesn't desire a guaranteed happy-ever-after scenario?" The author is working on a prequel and another time-travel novel set in a later period than 1705 Scottish Highlands. Her poetry has appeared in numerous anthologies and university presses over the past few decades under her alter ego’s name.

Barbara Spencer, author of BROKEN (Coming of Age/Teen & Young Adult), a novel which was a finalist in the Fiction category of the Book Excellence Awards. Also an award-winning children's author, she has 12 books to her name! She received the Bronze medal for ‘The Amazing Brain of O C Longbotham’ at the Wishing Shelf Book Awards. This same book was also a finalist in the Peoples Book Prize Winter 2014-15. The author is frequently invited to schools to either read her children’s books aloud or talk about the creative writing process.

Miichael Wills, author of ONE DECENT THING in the genre of Thriller/Terrorism, Michael Wills has a writing repertoire with latitude. His teaching career included time working in rural Sweden, a period which first sparked his now enduring interest in Scandinavian history and culture—an interest that after many years of research, both academic and in the field, led him to write several novels set in the Viking period. “I had a bizarre but very useful experience a few years ago when researching for a Viking novel. I decided to follow a Viking sailing route in my little sailing boat to an island in Sweden which used to be a major trading town over 1000 years ago, and, after a difficult voyage I landed on a small jetty with the help of three strangers. When the tourists had left at night, my wife and I found ourselves the only two not dressed as Vikings, among 300 who were.” This author is living proof that imagination will get you far!

One of 12 authors from around the world who took Cyber Monday by storm at our live 24-hr. event, my respect and admiration for each author in the group increased by leaps and bounds during our engagement. Thank you, Alex, for envisioning and executing a collaborative endeavor of magnitude.

Until our next venture …

Merry Christmas from 12 authors around the world!

'Tis the Indie Author's Season!

… To make merry by marketing our books in earnest from Cyber Monday until December 25th. God rest ye not merry gentlemen and women, let nothing you dismay until all selling endeavors wind down on Christmas Day. O tidings of comfort and joy!

For the task at hand, I happened to come across 20 book ad slogans, some of which, through the stretch of a writer’s imagination, could be incorporated in a Christmas-theme FACEBOOK AD post. Honestly, they strike me as persuasive sentences for third graders concluding their oral book report.

Escape into a book.

Reading shapes you.

The right book will always keep you company.

Books let you live a double life.

Become someone else.

http://ebookfriendly.com/ads-for-book...

Aside from engaging in creative holiday exploitation because ‘tis the Indie author’s season, and Christmas actually abounds in my Contemporary Women’s Fiction novel, AN ENLIGHTENING QUICHE--my book is listed alongside 100 other book deals for the month at eBookSoda from November 21 – December 21:

http://www.ebooksoda.com/ebook-deals/

In front of the largest number of potential readers in a targeted audience interested in Women’s Fiction, it remains to be seen if I’ll sell one book for my monetary effort as my eBook is the most expensive in the bunch, retailing for $3.95!

http://www.ebooksoda.com/ebook-deals/...

By holly, my last-ditch efforts to generate book sales by Christmas include:

Author, Kay MacLeod’s Indie Advent calendar promo event from the 1st - 24th of December for which I submitted information about myself as an author and my book with buy links.

https://www.facebook.com/KayMacLeodFa...

On Cyber Monday, I am one of twelve authors participating in the “Book Bargains: Christmas Stick with Authors from Around the World,” a 24-hour event extravaganza created to acquaint potential readers with our bargain books which make great gifts.

https://www.facebook.com/events/22458...

Last, but not least, I’ve signed up for an author takeover event from December 17th – 18th, organized by the administrator of “The Indie Writers’ Cooperative. Maybe last-minute shoppers will feel the pinch of time and buy Indie books.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Indie...

It’s all over when Scrooge sends a prize turkey to the Cratchit home for Christmas dinner.

All you within this place,
And with true love and brotherhood
Each other now embrace;
This holy tide of Christmas

Whether or not we lost face in a book selling disgrace.

O tidings of comfort and joy.

Hark! The Herald Authors Sing

Hark! The herald authors sing
Glory to our literary things!

Peace on earth and mercy mild
saints and sinners book-reconciled!

Joyful, all ye sales rise
Join the triumph of book buys!

With all due respect for Thanksgiving, I hope to tap into the holiday spirit on Black Friday by launching the first of several Christmas-theme book ads for my novel in the genre of Contemporary Women’s Fiction, AN ENLIGHTENING QUICHE. Since my story incorporates “A Christmas Carol,” I’ll enjoy being creative during my author takeover at The Indie Writers’ Cooperative on December 17th. “I don’t find the situation ill-used, I’ll be bound!”

Having already expressed my opinion about book blog tours of any kind based on my own ongoing experiences with a Book Blast Tour through “Pump Up Your Book,” I’ve turned a corner by trying to boost sales through book promo sites.

*Influential factors for choosing my promotional venues: my eBook is not part of Amazon’s KDP Select; nor do I intend to open a Twitter account.

When forthcoming, I’ll check my sales information for the Kindle Edition on Amazon once the following venues of one-month duration get underway:

November 21st: eBookSoda - http://www.ebooksoda.com/

Prices vary by genre.

Requirements:

Error Free. We look for content that is well-formatted, and free from typos and grammatical errors.

Blessed with a great cover. Unfortunately, people do judge books by their covers, so it will need to be a fairly good standard to make it past our control team.

Highly Rated. Books should have a minimum of 8 reviews with an average star rating of 3.5 unless it’s a new release (less than 3 months old).

Priced at $4.99 or less on the day of the listing. At eBookSoda, you don’t have to have your book on sale to qualify for a spot. As long as your book is $4.99 or less on the day of its listing, it’s eligible for submission. Obviously, you’ll get more downloads if it’s a promotion as everyone loves a good deal, but the visibility should still earn you some new readers.

Easily Available. We only feature books that are available from at least one major retailer.

If your book meets all of the above, we’ll take a look at it. If it’s right for our readers, we’ll give it the green light and away we go!

You can promote the same title as many times as you like with eBookSoda, as long as there is a 60 day gap between promotions. We also like a 2 week gap between titles by the same author.

Dec. 1st: People Reads – http://myreads100.webs.com/

Several options.

Requirements:

10 reviews on Amazon (US and/or UK) with an average rating of 3.9 stars or better (review requirement does not apply to New Release Listings.

For books with 50+ reviews an average of 3.8 stars or better must be maintained and for books with 200+ reviews an average of 3.5 stars or better must be maintained.

The work must be reasonably free of typographical errors.

The work must have professional cover art

December 22nd: The Fussy Librarian – http://www.thefussylibrarian.com/

Price varies by genre.

In order to be considered, you must have published an ebook with:

10 reviews and a 4.0 rating on Amazon, 11 to 19 reviews and a 4.0 rating, or 20 reviews and a 3.5 rating. If you have 10 reviews split between Amazon's various stores — like US and UK — your book is eligible. Reviews must be from Amazon.

You can specify when you want us to send you a reminder email that it's time to promote again — anywhere from 21 to 365 days.

By the time each monthly promo expires, I hope I can sing the tune, “Jingle bells, my book sells—smiling all the way!”

An Enlightening Quiche

Book Blog Tour: Blast or Bust?

As promised to those Indie authors who wanted me to share my experience in navigating the uncharted territory of booking a blog tour, here’s my take:

It’s no secret I’ve embarked on a month-long “Book Blast Tour” with PUMP UP YOUR BOOK:

http://tinyurl.com/jdgqfnb

I chose them because of:

1.The impressive citation: PUMP UP YOUR BOOK is an award-winning publicity company placing first in the P&E Readers Poll for Best Book Promotion Company in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

2.Author testimonials galore!

I opted for the One-Month Book Blast – November 7 – 30 (no limit on participants):

Book Blast Page includes your book cover, book blurb, and buying information. Also includes author bio including website links and other information the author would like included. This page will also host your book blast stops and comes with SEO optimization.

Maximum Social Media Exposure through participating blogs and PUMP UP YOUR BOOK.
Media Packet which will be sent to all blog hosts before your blast starts.

Cost = $90

Now for my diary of dilemmas in real time:

November 7, Day 1 – Had to contact the organizer because my book trailer was missing from the first blog stop. Corrected.

November 9, Day 3 – Informed the organizer the blog link netted the message, “Blog not found.” Updated with the correct link. Later, discovered a spelling error in my book title on the book plate image. Irritated!

November 10, Day 4 – Noticed my book feature was not posted at its stop, so wrote a note to the organizer who contacted the host there. The buck stopped there. Nada! Blown off!

Each day I dutifully make it a point to stop at each blog and leave a comment. Thus far along the tour, I feel like the only elephant loitering in the room, as I haven’t detected any visitor counter, or the number of blog followers to make me think this is a busy thoroughfare.

Be still, my heart! I nearly fell off my chair upon discovering a comment left by a reader expressing interest in my book. I feel somewhat exhilarated because I see other authors have no comments whatsoever.

The success or failure of such a venture hinges on the publicity company and bloggers who are responsible for directing traffic to their websites. After all, the reason I signed up for this tour of duty is to reach a targeted audience of potential readers.

Book Blast or Bust?

Although it’s early along my tour, I don’t predict a tidal surge in exposure, let alone one book sale! In my dual capacity as judge and jury, I’m rendering this verdict a BUST! I do not recommend any type of blog tour. Save your money!

Pinch Me!

Since launching my novel in the genre of Contemporary Women’s Fiction—AN ENLIGHTENING QUICHE, late September, I’ve had more gains than setbacks along my journey as an Indie author. I did recover from that Facebook lockout mentioned in “The Horror of Realization!”

Every single day I strive to accomplish a goal toward achieving more exposure for my book. Thus far, I can’t believe my good fortune. Pinch me!

Social media has enabled me to make meaningful connections with fellow Indies, participate in author events, and discover promising leads I doubt I’d have stumbled across on my own:

Thanks to supportive family members and friends who cast their votes:

UBR (Underground Book Reviews) congratulates Eva Pasco, author of our latest Pitch Perfect Pick winner AN ENLIGHTENING QUICHE:

http://ow.ly/DPW2305IZRM

Rocking Friends & PA Indie Book Awards:

Nominee - Favorite Contemporary Women’s Fiction Author: http://tinyurl.com/hrkforp

Nomination - Favorite Contemporary Women’s Fiction Book: http://tinyurl.com/jbgrgs6

I’m taking off to find the sky via my cyber taxi throughout the month of November: Pump Up Your Book “Book Blast Tour” with a different blog stop each day. Heading my way? ----->

http://tinyurl.com/jdgqfnb

Sending out press releases and/or cold calling on the local level netted these results:

A full-feature story about my novel and me appearing in the “East Bay Life” section of every East Bay area newspaper in Rhode Island (October 20, 2016).

Due to this article, I received a librarian’s invitation to speak and sign at the Barrington Public Library on January 18th, 7:00 PM.

Encouraged, I pursued and landed another solo signing event at North Providence Public Library for January 7th, 10:00 AM – 1:00PM.

I will be joining other authors for a signing event at Cumberland Public Library in February, and at Barnes & Noble in Smithfield come April.

I’ve plenty more wild geese to chase in my pursuit to spread the word about my book and sell a copy or two here and there. To me there’s nothing more rewarding for an author than flourishing a pen to address a reader by name and inscribe heartfelt phrases to the person who will forever treasure the story you’ve told.

Is it all a dream? Pinch me!

Tribute to the Indie Fab Five!

“One for all, all for one!”

This mantra sums up the spirit for a close-knit group of five authors who stick together in comradery despite writing in different genres.

“Huzzah!” frequently pops up in our comments when such an ebullient outburst is called for.

We even have our own self-appointed or bestowed superhero names which genuinely reflect our unique natures:

J. B. Richards (Orb) -Author of ‘Miriamne the Magdala - the First Chapter in the Yeshua and Miri Novel’ Series, in the genres of Historical Fiction; Romance; New Adult; Young Adult; Gnostic Fiction; Religious Fiction.

Lyra Shanti (Vortex) - Author of ‘Shiva XIV’ Series: “Shiva XIV” (Book 1), “The Veil of Truth” (Book 2), “The Riddle of the Gods” (Book 3 – Release Date: Nov. 14) in the genre of Epic Sci-Fi/Fantasy. She is also the author of ‘The Rainbow Serpent,’ a Biblical Fantasy novella.

Aliya DalRae (Mindbender) - Author of ‘Sweet Vengeance’ (Jessica Sweet Trilogy, Book 1) in the genre of Paranormal Romance.

R.M. Gauthier (Oracle) - Author of ‘Control’ (Release Date: Nov. 10) in the genres of Suspense; Mystery; Romance with elements of BDSM. And, on Oct. 26th, she launched, ‘Waiting,’ a novella in the genre of Romance, where The Oracle so kindly acknowledged The Fabulous Five!

Moi, Eva Pasco (Insight) - Author of ‘An Enlightening Quiche,’ my recently launched second novel in the genres of Contemporary Women’s Fiction and Women’s Fiction (Friendship).

Of all the proverbial gin joints at Facebook—Lyra, J.B., Aliya, and I just happened to participate in the same interview hosted by kindred Indie, Suzanne Paschke, via her blog, in conjunction with Indie Author Day. Ironically, the four of us ended up in a sequential lineup for an Author Takeover event on October 2nd, organized by Renee (R.M. Gauthier) at the newly formed support group, The Indies Writers’ Cooperative. I’ll never forget how Renee hung in for practically the entire 24-hr. stretch, messaging each participant to let us know when we could start posting/strutting our stuff.

Shortly thereafter, it seemed natural for the five of us to mesh. As Aliya said, “Pay it forward!” And, like true Musketeers each of us shows up for the other’s author event to provide support, boost morale, or liven things up. We recently eavesdropped on Aliya’s live blog talk radio segment (Author, Susan Wingate’s Dialogue between the Lines).

Immediately afterward, each of us let Aliya know she was fabulous in her delivery, and in delivering interesting information about her debut novel.

Come February, we’re following through on J.B.’s suggestion for the five of us to participate in Susan’s interview together. Unprecedented!

It goes without saying, we’ll form a procession in the lineup of time slots available for the next Author Takeover at Indie Writers’ Cooperative on Dec. 17th where the Fab Five will deck the halls with bells on.

Since it became no longer viable to conduct our business or banter through messaging, Renee set up a private group which Lyra dubbed our “mansion”—a place where we can commiserate in a more organized fashion.

Before I conclude, here’s a collective shout out to the wonderful supportive author groups the five of us have in common: The Indie Writers’ Cooperative and Scribes & Bibliophiles. We’re also of the mindset that most Indie authors collaborate with, rather than compete against one another. Therefore, we wholeheartedly endorse the buddy system, and encourage other authors to set up their own sanctuary for likeminded individuals who will be with you through the thick and thin of writing, editing, publishing, marketing, and whatever life happens to toss at you.

An Indie Fab Five huzzah!

Opportunity Knocks But Once!

An Indie author, I seize every opportune moment to market my new release in the genre of Contemporary Women’s Fiction. One of this week’s highlights was a full-feature story about my novel and me appearing in the “East Bay Life” section of every East Bay area newspaper in Rhode Island. My one disappointment is that there was no way for me to link the article to social media.

Although I seized other opportunities by proverbially grabbing bulls by their horns, I’ve set these aside so as not to eclipse exciting news with potential to help an Indie Author rise above the ashes of obscurity.

Not the first time I’ve mentioned it this week, I’m blaring my trumpet again, by sharing a notification I received from UNDERGROUND BOOK REVIEWS on October 19th pertaining to my book submission pre-publication:

Congratulations on having AN ENLIGHTENING QUICHE selected as a Pitch Perfect Pick Finalist!

Our judges analyzed your book’s pitch, sample content, and several other factors and found its initial presentation comparable to other quality books in its genre and market. Once qualified, it had to finish in the top five of all our weekly qualifiers. This is an honor not given lightly.

Your book will be promoted as a finalist on our Facebook page by Monday. The following Sunday, we will add up your Likes and shares on Facebook, as well as the votes on our website. The winner will be published to our Magazine the following week, and the synopsis will go out to our 2000+ subscribers and 2000+ social media followers.

The winner will also join the ranks of a select few books that are eligible for entry into our 2017 Novel of the Year competition.

VOTE: http://ow.ly/t7jP305mJLc

While I am deeply grateful for the nomination, I must try very hard to win because of the potential to boost author recognition and book sales. This is an opportunity I must seize by garnering support of family, friends, and fellow group members in the days to come. The only way I have a shot at winning is through the variable of coordinated support which I intend to orchestrate as effectively as I can without inconveniencing anyone more than absolutely necessary.

As Indie Authors live by the creed, “One for all; all for one,” I want to extend my sincere thanks to those authors who take time to read my Memoirs, essays, blogs, book posts, and daily bio updates on my web page at Authors Den:

http://www.authorsden.com/evapasco

I would not have gone very far along my literary journey without the likes, shares, and “being there” at any hour of the day from those in my Facebook groups:

Scribes & Bibliophiles

The Indie Writers’ Cooperative

Marketing for Creatives

Opportunity may knock only once, but when it does, you need the cavalry behind you to succeed.

3-2-1 ... Blast-Off!

Every breath I take and every move I make
I’ll be watching out for future book sales.

(Inspired by “Every Breath You Take," a song by English rock band, The Police, from their 1983 album ‘Synchronicity’)

My latest move since the recent release and launch of my second novel in the genre of Contemporary Women’s Fiction, ‘An Enlightening Quiche,’ earlier this month, is that of submitting my book to free and paid promotional venues.

My biggest speculative venture for outlaying even more cash as a struggling Indie Author is that of signing up for a virtual book publicity tour with Pump Up Your Book. I made my decision based on awards for “Best Promotion Service” cited by Preditors & Editors, and client endorsements.

3-2-1 … Blast-Off! I’m prepared for take-off in November, having chosen to participate in:

ONE MONTH BOOK BLAST

Duration: One Month (no limit on participants)

Book Blast Page: Includes your book cover, book blurb, and buying information. Also includes author bio including website links and other information the author would like included. This page will also host your book blast stops and comes with SEO optimization.

Maximum Social Media Exposure through participating blogs and Pump Up Your Book.

Media Packet which will be sent to all blog hosts before your blast starts.

Since most of my blogs pertain to what I’m up to as an Indie author, I intend to follow-up with my experiences navigating uncharted territory when they’re forthcoming.

Meanwhile, with every breath I take and every calculating move I make, I’ll be assessing progress made, or lack thereof, in accruing book sales.
