#TuesdayTreasures Your Body

Good Morning Friends,

It's been so long since I shared something I treasure with you, I was unsure what to write about until I looked at a couple of pics from my recent trip to Bandera, TX.

How often do we think about our bodies with awe and appreciation?

I'd reckon not as often as we do with disgust or displeasure.

The Bible states that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and that God knit us together in our mother's womb. Therefore, the human body is a miraculous machine and I've come to appreciate mine more over the last few years than I ever did as a younger woman.

Especially when it enables me to hike and experience a view like this one from Lost Maples State Park in Vanderpool, TX....about 35 miles NW of Bandera and deeper into the Hill Country.

So the next time you're tempted to complain about your body, take a moment and think about all it does for you, then praise and bless it instead.

You'll be amazed at how much better it responds and you'll feel.

Something to think about....

"Inspirational with an Edge!"

PS: Hope you enjoyed today's treasure and that you'll visit weekly for Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlight.

Until next time...take care and God Bless.

#SaturdaySpotlight is on Linda Hebert Todd and Wild Justice!

Good Morning!

As I've mentioned before it is always a pleasure to introduce you to a brand new author, especially one from Bayou Writers Group which I co-founded in 2002 and today's guest is another great member! Linda has been with the group almost from it's inception and has worked steadily to hone her craft and write this novel.

I hope you'll give her a warm welcome and best wishes....

Linda Hebert Todd writes fiction and poetry, and since she enjoys reading mysteries, much of her fiction is about mayhem and murder. Nearly all her fiction is set in the bayou country of south Louisiana, where she came of age swimming in the river and listening to tales of LaFitte the Pirate and the loup-garou.
Linda has a short story in Journeys: Bayou Writers Group Anthology Volume 1 (Bayou Writers Group, 2014). Several of her short stories and poems have won prizes in various contests, and have appeared in the Jambalaya Writers’ Conference anthologies.
She has one novel completed—Wild Justice, a crime story with a revenge theme, and has started another one set in Labrador and Louisiana.
Linda is a member of Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime on the national level. She is a charter member of the Bayou Writers Group in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and a member of Writer’s League of Texas based in Austin. She is past Secretary of Bayou Writers Group and is currently serving on the board as Member-at-Large.
Find out more about Linda by visiting her Website and/or Blog and connecting with her on Facebook
Now here's a sneak peek into Linda's novel, Wild Justice...
Keeley Chesson, a crime reporter for a city newspaper, is orphaned at age fourteen, courtesy of a sheriff’s deputy who killed her parents and got away with it. Now, fourteen years later, the deaths of her parents still a mystery and the deputy now her town’s police chief, tragedy again rocks her world when her aunt, the woman who took her in and finished rearing her, is murdered. Keeley is inside the house when her aunt and cousin are shot by two gunmen. She narrowly escapes detection, but is able to watch the men drive off. One of them she has known since elementary school—the good-for-nothing son of her town’s chief of police. As they drive away she sees someone else in the truck—the killer’s girlfriend who is also Keeley’s best friend. Wracked with grief over the deaths of her relatives and her friend’s betrayal, Keeley vows to get justice. She’s afraid to call law enforcement because the killer’s father has made sure his son never had to pay for anything he ever did. She feels she has to do it herself, and begins a quest for justice and revenge that puts her in danger of losing her own life.
Here’s an excerpt from Chapter One: The screams stopped, quenched into silence when the roof of the vintage car disappeared under the cold waters of the Calcasieu River. Deputy Brad LaCaze stepped out of the shadows where he’d hidden his patrol car in a copse of trees. The sinking car, a fully restored 1955 Chevrolet BelAir, triggered a momentary twinge of regret. Then he remembered the treachery of Moira Adams Chesson and that son-of-a-bitch, Joe Chesson.
Here’s the last paragraph in the chapter: One of the divers broke the surface and waved his arms, signaling discovery, and two fingers signifying two bodies. No one noticed the satisfied smile that for an instant flickered across Brad’s face. And no one, including Brad, saw the solitary figure across the water paddle the pirogue around the bend.
Wow, Linda sound intriguing!
Wild Justice can be purchased at Amazon in Ebook and Paperback.
Hope you enjoyed today's spotlight as much as I enjoyed sharing it with you! Come back each week for a new Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlight.
Until next time, take care and God Bless. PamT

#ThursdayThoughts Guest post by Gail Kittleson

Good Morning Friends,

It is my pleasure to introduce you this new-to-me author....

Gail Kittleson taught college expository writing and ESL. She now writes women’s fiction and facilitates writing workshops and women’s retreats. She and her husband enjoy family in northern Iowa, and the Arizona Ponderosa forest in winter.

WhiteFire Publishing released Gail’s memoir, Catching Up With Daylight, in 2013, and her debut women’s historical fiction, In This Together (Wild Rose Press/Vintage Imprint) released in 2015. She also contributed to the Little Cab Press 2015 Christmas Anthology,The first novel of her World War II series released recently (In Times Like These), and Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas will release the sequel in February, 2017. You can count on Gail’s heroines to make do with what life hands them, and to overcome great odds.Find out more about Gail by visiting her Website, Facebook Page, Amazon Author Page and following her on Twitter! Now let's see what's on Gail's mind....  My tea bag this morning says, “Aspire to inspire before you expire.” Not bad advice, eh?How do people become inspirational to others? Start! What we overcome makes us stronger, more aware of others’ struggles, and gives us perspective.
But if we’re in the midst of anguish, we certainly don’t want to hear this old line. What doesn’t kill you makes you strong . . . you’ll emerge from this period wiser, believe me . . .
Yada, yada, yada. At the time, we just want to get through this pain! Who cares about inspiring others?
But when the worst has passed, the inspiring comes naturally—we don’t even know when it’s occurring.
“Start by doing what’s necessary, then do what’s possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” Saint Francis of Assisi
Perhaps the same might be said of doing the inspirational. Paying attention to inner and outer guidance, we work hard at our passions—necessary labor. We start with the possible, and as we toil away, the meaning of possible expands. Our vision enlarges, new ideas flow, and voila! We’re inspiring others.
I’ve found this with my writing. The first step, starting, challenged me. All kinds of arguments formed from voices I’ve listened to my whole life. But I had to move beyond what they said in order to follow my vocation’s rhythm. WRITE, WRITE, WRITE . . . for years, unsure of the outcome.              And now, readers tell me my work inspires them. This must be how it works, but doing the necessary and possible initiated the process. I’d love to hear how it’s worked for you.
*********You are so right, Gail....there is always a purpose to our pain.
Gail's latest book, In Times like These can be found at Amazon.

Thanks for joining us! I hope you enjoyed today's thoughts and that you'll come back weekly for more Thursday Thoughts, Tuesday Treasures and Saturday Spotlights.Until next time...take care and God Bless. PamT

#TuesdayTreasures #NewRelease by Marissa Garner

Good Morning from Bandera, TX!

A couple of weeks ago I shared how important and thrilling a new release is to an author. As both reader and author, I know when my favorite author(s) have a book coming (or due) out, I'm as anxious as an expectant mother.

With that in mind, here's another new release to treasure...TARGETED (FBI Heat #2) by Marissa Garner....

RIPPED FROM THE HEADLINES…
FBI Special Agent Marissa Panuska faces the most explosive case of her career when she impersonates a female terrorist to infiltrate an al-Qaeda cell. Her dark hair, olive complexion, and Arabic fluency make her the perfect imposter, but each passing hour raises the risk of discovery. Can she stop the dirty-bomb plot—alone—when the Feds don't even know the target? And should she trust the mysterious man who bursts into her life when her cover is blown?

SO CLOSE TO REALITY…

Former Navy SEAL Ameen Ali has a very personal reason for hating the terrorists and vowing to stop them. But when a beautiful woman joins the sleeper cell spreading death-to-America propaganda at his mosque, he doesn't want to believe she shares their evil goals. Can he convince her to join forces before it's too late?
Excerpt:Marissa slipped around the corner of the nearest building and held her breath. She inched backwards. When her foot came down on the paw of a dog sleeping against the wall, the mutt yelped and sprang to its feet. It growled and then barked ferociously.
“Hush. No bark. Quiet,” she scolded in Spanish to no avail.
She scooted back to the corner and peered down the road. As she had anticipated, the men were searching for her in the direction of the border crossing. But hearing the barking, they stopped, turned, and raced back in her direction. Marissa spun around, ran several steps, and stopped with a gasp.
The short alley was a dead end. And she couldn’t return to the road because Samir and Omar would see her.
Trapped.
With the dog biting at her heels, she tried to pry open the door of the building on the right side of the alley. The door refused to budge. Rushing across to the other building, she slammed both hands into the door. It shuddered open a crack. She rammed her shoulder into the wood and the door gave way. Ignoring the pain shooting through her arm, she swung inside the abandoned building, pushed the dog back outside with her foot, and shoved the door shut.
Minimal moonlight filtered in through the dirty, broken windows. She strained to see as she felt along the grimy walls until she found a doorway. Repeating the pattern, she worked her way back through six rooms. Where’s another exit? There can’t be only one.
The dog’s blood-curdling yelp stopped her in her tracks. Oh, God. Samir’s knife.
When the two terrorists shouted and barged into the building, Marissa slipped into another room and flattened herself against the wall beside the door. Her eyes desperately sought a way out. No more doors. Only two windows, four feet above the floor, shattered in the center. Could she dive through one without ripping herself open? Was there time?
Not bothering with stealth, the men cursed as they separated and searched, room by room. Closer and closer. When Omar stepped through the doorway, Marissa slammed the door into his face, her bulky clothes hampering her efforts.
She dashed toward the windows, but Omar recovered before she reached them. Grabbing her abaya from behind, he yelled to Samir. Viciously, he kicked the backs of her legs, buckling her knees.
She collapsed to the floor.
Samir charged through the doorway, brandishing the knife in front of him.
As she scrambled up onto her hands and knees, Omar yanked off the veil. He clutched handfuls of her long hair, exposing the back of her neck and dragging her forward. She cursed and clawed at her attackers, but both stayed just out of reach.
Samir grunted as he raised the massive knife high over her neck.
“Benja! Miláčku,” Marissa screamed.
Marissa Garner is a wife, writer, chocoholic, and animal lover, not necessarily in that order. As a little girl, she cut pictures of people out of her mother’s magazines and turned them into characters in her simple stories. Now she writes edgy romantic thrillers, steamy contemporary romance, and sexy paranormal romantic suspense. Her stories will titillate your mind as well as your libido. Shelives in sunny Southern California with her husband, but enjoys traveling from Athens to Anchorage to Acapulco and many locations in between. You can find and follow Marissa at the following locations...Newsletter:  http://bit.ly/1NTfT19Website:  www.marissagarner.comFacebook:  https://www.facebook.com/MarissaGarnerAuthorTwitter:  https://twitter.com/M_Garner_AuthorGoodreads:  https://www.goodreads.com/marissa_garnerPinterest:  https://pinterest.com/garner1819/

#SaturdaySpotlight is on Kara O'Neal and The Miller Brides!

Good Morning Friends!

I pray whatever you do to celebrate this weekend you have fun and be safe!

Today I am excited to introduce to you an author never before featured on our blog. I met Kara O'Neal through an online promotion group I belong to. I received a copy of her book The Miller Brides to read, review and share in a "pass the reads" event. I loved this book! You can read my review HERE.

Naturally when I meet a new author or read a great book I like to share them with you. So without further ado, meet Kara O'Neal....

Born and raised in Texas, the state had to be the setting for my first series. From the food to the fun, like floating the rivers, it is the fire in my blood that inspires me. My family and friends take center stage in my books. My sisters and best friends are my heroines, and my husband created my favorite hero. Love and family are the point of my stories, and I seek to entertain, relieve stress, and inspire people. Books can take one on a journey that one can relive over and over. I am extremely grateful to those authors who did that very thing for me. I learned and I fell in love with their words and characters. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Please visit me at www.karaoneal.com
You can also connect with me on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter, and visit my Amazon and B&N author pages.

After Eulalie Miller was left at the altar, her younger sisters, Susannah and Lucy, pledge to never forsake her, not suspecting the vow would label them "Spinster Sisters". Neither did they realize Eulalie would become so formidable, the male population would be too scared to darken their doorstep.

But, while Eulalie makes it her mission to protect her sisters from men, she can't stop Brady Callahan, the saloon owner, from turning Susannah's head. Nor can she keep Harold Dawson, recently widowed, from stealing Lucy's heart. And when Richard Morrison comes calling for Eulalie, expecting courtship, marriage, and her love, Eulalie’s world is turned on its axis.

As the "Spinster Sisters" tumble into romance, the people of Pikes Run might have to seek a new title for them. One of distinction and hope…

The Miller Brides .
Excerpt:The sign was red and gold and gleamed brightly in the sunlight. Callahan’s. The scrollwork was gorgeous, and if rumors were correct, she knew Brady Callahan had carved the word himself.

Swallowing thickly, she ignored her shaking knees and went up the steps. The lively music frightened her, but she wouldn’t let it deter her from her course. Setting a hand on the batwing doors, she pushed inside.

As her eyes adjusted to the dimmer light, she was aware of the sudden stop of the music and the sound of crashing glass as something hit the floor. While she’d seen his saloon before, during the protests the Ladies Auxiliary had conducted, she’d never been inside.

Blinking away her fuzzy vision, she found a very tall and broad shouldered man behind the bar. His jaw was slack as he looked at her. Unable to say anything to him, Susannah ignored his shock and ran her gaze over the rest of the establishment.

Billiards, tables, the piano—with an equally shocked piano player—dominated the large room. There was a mirror over the bar, several shelves of glasses and a stairway that led to upper rooms. The only men inside appeared to be employees of Callahan’s. A slow exhale escaped her lips.

The establishment held no innocence, nothing feminine. She was in a man’s domain. Heavenly days!  What was she doing?

“Did I hear somethin’ break?”

Susannah froze at the sound of Brady Callahan’s voice.

“Zeke?” he called when no one answered.

Still neither man said a word.

Heavy, booted steps sounded from the back.

Oh, dear. Oh, dear. Oh, dear. Her throat went dry. Her knees shook uncontrollably.

He emerged, looking as dark and as wolfish as always. He wore only his shirtsleeves, black pants and a satin vest of deep blue. He paused when he saw her.

His dark hair was so thick, her fingers itched to run through the strands. Run her hands through his hair, indeed!  What a thought. But she couldn’t banish the need.

He walked toward her. Slowly.

She clenched her hands into fists and lifted her chin.

“Aren’t you a brave one?” he drawled. “Comin’ in here when you stole from me.”

She couldn’t seem to force any words past her lips. Oh, dear.

“All by your lonesome, too, huh?”  He stopped a few feet from her.

She could smell his spicy cologne, feel the heat of his gaze on her. Oh, dear.

“And just why are you here?  Come to see the devil’s den?  Come to spit in my face?”

Her heart twisted at his question. Images of him holding flowers in his hand stole her breath. My God!  Why was his mere presence so powerful?  Heat radiated off him, searing her flesh and making her sway toward him.

He put a hand on her upper arm. “Susannah?”

The sound of her given name on his lips made her insides melt and her intent spill from her mouth. “I’ve come to court you, Brady Callahan. What do you say to that?”

#ThursdayThoughts: Guest Post by Christine Lindsay

Good Morning and Welcome to the last Thursday Thoughts of June 2016!

Our guest today is no stranger to the blog. She was spotlighted in April and shared treasures with us in May. Today she shares some thoughts with us on personalities....

Personalities, Two Sides to the Coin -- by Christine Lindsay
Personality traits have always fascinated me. How does our early life mold our personality? How much of it is inherited? What aspects of personality affect people’s choices of work, exploits or lack of exploits.
Have you ever noticed that there is a good side and a down side to our personality traits?
I love doing tests such as the Myers’ Briggs, and on one test I found myself as a Protagonist under the heading for Diplomats. They describe this personality as:
Everything you do ripples outward and affects everyone. Your posture can shine your heart or transmit anxiety. Your breath can radiate love or muddy the room in depression. Your glance can awaken joy. Your words can inspire freedom. Your every act can open hearts and minds.
My goodness, how very flattering. This all comes in handy when I write and do the occasional speaking. The down side however, is I can also lock myself away for hours on end with my laptop. I tend to be a workaholic, and prefer my solitude a bit too much.
Enough of me.
While developing the characters for Sofi’s Bridge , I wanted to know the good side and the bad side to the personality traits of a doctor. On the site MedoholicI found certain personality traits that are predominant in medical students.
The traits of a doctor who will go beyond himself to save others. But what’s the possible downside? In the Supporter Personality tests doctors and nurses are referred to as “Supporters” with the passion to be saviors.
So, what’s happens when a healthy individual with the personality traits to make a good doctor finds himself in a personal situation that twists his passion for saving others into circumstances that will destroy him?
·         Have you ever stopped in the middle of helping your kids or a friend out of a jam, and thought, “maybe it would be better if they took their lumps and learned from their situation?”
This particular truth inspired my latest historical romance Sofi’s Bridge . The hero and the heroine in this book are both savior personality types, and put aside their own welfare to “fix” the lives of their respective siblings. In Sofi’s Bridge, both Sofi Andersson and Dr. Neil Galloway must learn the same lesson that I had to learn in my life—that we cannot save the ones we love. Only God can do that.
**********
Wow, learn something new every day! Great info Christine, thanks for sharing.
Christine Lindsay is the author of multi-award-winning Christian fiction. Tales of her Irish ancestors who served in the British Cavalry in Colonial India inspired her multi-award-winning series Twilight of the British Raj, Book 1 Shadowed in Silk , Book 2 Captured by Moonlight , and the explosive finale Veiled at Midnight .
Christine’s Irish wit and her use of setting as a character is evident in her contemporary romance Londonderry Dreaming . Her newest release Sofi’s Bridge also features a dashing Irish hero.
Aside from being a busy writer and speaker, Christine and her husband live on the west coast of Canada. Coming August 2016 is the release of Christine’s non-fiction book Finding Sarah—Finding Me: A Birthmother’s Story .
Please drop by Christine’s website www.ChristineLindsay.orgor follow her on Amazon on Twitter. Subscribe to her quarterly newsletter, and be her friend on Pinterest , Facebook, and  Goodreads

#TuesdayTreasures: Guest post by Ryan Clemons

Good Morning Friends,

It is always a pleasure to have guest authors share something they treasure with us, especially a new author and doubly so when it's a new Pelican Book Group OR Bayou Writers Group author!

Today's guest is new to me and to Bayou Writers Group in Lake Charles, Louisiana...the group I co-founded back in 2002.

Ryan Clemons resides in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication and a concentration in Public Relations from McNeese State University. Ryan had the opportunity to intern with University Image, a marketing firm at McNeese State University. She also had the privilege to work for three forms of media: Television: KPLC News: News Content Specialist, Print: The American Press, Account Executive Radio: KZWA 104.9, Radio Personality.

Ryan is currently president of 3RP Productions, a nonprofit organization committed to changing lives by touring different cities and hosting the "It's Over" Revival. She's also serves as the Executive Director of Pink Life, a non-profit organization that assists mothers who are in need of diapers and wipes free of charge. In her spare time, Ryan speaks at youth organizations, non-profit organizations, women's conferences and seminars about her journey. She is dedicated to changing this generation by encouraging and inspiring others.

Now that we've met Ryan, let's see what she treasures....
I treasure my college class ring, because it's a constant reminder of my will power and determination. In college I was a single mom working three part-time jobs. I made the decision to put myself through college, so I applied for a position at McNeese in administration. I also worked part-time in security, and I was a waitress for a privately owned catering company.
Over the course of three years, my life was consistently about college and Tyler. I was my my biggest motivator, and I had to push forward. During that period I learned to managed it all because I was determined to make it. It seemed as if I was going crazy at times, averaging four hours of sleep, but I had a goal to reach. I knew because of my current status as a single mom I had to try harder, study harder. Being a student in class was more of a challenge to to me than anything else. I couldn't afford to waste time lagging behind my classes because I wanted to pass and graduate.
When I look at my ring it's a symbol of my strength and it proves I am capable! ****************
Boy to many of us understand, agree and treasure our class rings also Ryan! Thanks for sharing.
Ryan's debut novel, Victorious: The Journey of a Single Mom and Her Faith, can be purchased at Amazon
Ryan will be returning to share some thoughts with us and we'll spotlight her book at a later date, so be sure and visit weekly for Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlight!
Until next time, take care and God bless. PamT

Most of the time, Heather McNeil loves her job as assistant to the director of the Washington DC Market Show Center. Because she’s a good listener and even better at solving problems, her boss assigns her to handle a lot of the day to day issues that arise during the shows, exhibits, and conferences being held there.

The Business Technology Exposition at the Market Center is set to open with a major new product announcement from one of the biggest companies in the computer electronics business. Before that event, though, the president of industry-leader MegaComp has a very public argument with a man who accuses the company of stealing the concept for a technical process from him. The announcement goes off without a hitch. But when the accuser returns a phone call from Heather, she becomes an unwilling audience to his murder and later finds his body in a private section of an exhibitor’s booth.

Heather is more than happy to leave the investigation to the police, but she’s the person everyone talks to and she soon learns more than she wanted to know about the victim and all the people who really didn’t like him very much.
Excerpt: Ninety-nine days out of a hundred I love my job as assistant to the director of the Washington D.C. Commerce and Market Center. That particular Monday morning, however, I had a hard time remembering why. Setup day before the start of the Washington, D.C. BizTech Show had already staked its claim as the one in the current hundred that made me want to re-examine my career choice.Whatever my title might indicate, I spend most of my time as liaison between the exhibitors and the director, being general troubleshooter and flak-catcher. That part of the job I usually don’t mind so much. I’m good at listening and staying calm and finding ways to make things better. I keep my head when everyone around me is losing theirs. In general, anyway. But dealing with a list of problems growing faster than I could possibly handle them set my nerves on edge.On the plus side, the exhibition starting the next day meant I had to be down on the show floor rather than at my desk dealing with the mountain of paperwork that filled my inbox, the gazillion phone messages, and an email box that beeped and glared at me, sulking because I’d neglected it for so long. Of course that just delayed tackling the mess, which would only grow bigger and be even harder to face later. On the down side, by ten-thirty in the morning I already had a full day’s worth of aggravations to deal with. Plus, setting up for a trade show creates a huge, headache-inducing racket. Several hundred booths being assembled at the same time in an echoing, cavernous space could make an aircraft carrier sound peaceful by comparison. Metal clanged against metal as structures were put together and pieces whacked into place, voices called back and forth, boxes were ripped open, hand trucks squealed on constant rushes back and forth from the loading dock, and footsteps tromped relentlessly. The buzz of an electric screwdriver rasped my nerves again while my temples throbbed in time to the pounding of a hammer on steel joints. One of the rental bucketlifts chirped a grating counterpoint to the banging as it backed up.My throbbing head demanded a couple of ibuprofens before I tackled the next item on the list. I headed for the elevator to go back upstairs, but no such luck. A pair of men approached at a run, their eyes focused on me. I sighed and waited. I didn’t recognize them, but their intent gaze said they knew who I was. Next crisis, I thought.“Miss McNeill?” The man in the lead stopped and huffed in a sharp breath. “I think you might want to do something. A couple of guys are…”“What?”“Fighting,” the second one, older and a bit pudgy, said. His face was red and pulled into a worried frown.“Really more of an argument,” the first one elaborated. “A loud one.” Great.

You can purchase Wired for Murder at Amazon.
Check out Karen't previous visits here, here and here!
Hope you enjoyed today's spotlight and that you'll return weekly for Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and of course, Saturday Spotlight!
Until next time, take care and God Bless. PamT

Recently we heard a pastor challenge his congregation with a question. “What is it to have a mission as a Christian?” He went on to mention that the term is used rather loosely; even a fast-food place will say they have a mission to serve the best burgers. It got us to thinking that while we do think we have a mission in life, what does that really mean? It is supposed to represent our vision, but that vision should be aligned with God's Vision for it to be valid.
We may think our mission should be family. Or to be outstanding in our life's work. It may mean being a good friend. It can also involve what we do for our church. All these are noble goals, but are they our real mission in life?
If our vision is to be God's, it must stress God's Word and evangelism. What we do and what we say should be a witness to our faith. When there is an opportunity to witness our faith by action or word, do we take advantage of the opportunity?
We have a great deal left to do in understanding and sharing God's Vision. That mission was given us by Jesus Christ in The Great Commission.
-Fred R. Eichelman, Ed.D.

Thanks Fred, definitely something to consider.
Frank's latest project is Faith, Family, Film: A Teacher's Trek

Discover a hidden, heartwarming side of Hollywood and politics you never knew existed.
Faith, Family, Film: A Teacher’s Trek describes the worlds of entertainment, literature, and politics as experienced by the author during his lifetime. Dr. Eichelman reveals how films and television programs influenced his growing up, his teaching career, and his Christian ministry by reflecting upon the beautiful souls who throughout their storied careers have touched numerous lives, not just his own. His anecdotes feature such personalities as John Wayne, Roy Rogers, Elizabeth Taylor, Jimmy Stewart, Rhonda Fleming, Ronald Reagan, Andy Griffith, several Star Trek cast members, and many more celebrities well into the twenty-first century. The introduction by actress, producer, and motivational speaker Nancy Stafford promises that Dr. Eichelman will take you “where no man has gone before,” a promise that he delivers upon in charming, “come in and set a spell” Southern storyteller fashion.

EXCERPT One night there was a late phone call from Doc Jones. “Al, Ann, I need a favor. I am taking care of too many sick animals right now, and I have a man here with a pair of dogs he brought from Germany. Rex and Regina. Never seen anything like them. Regina is about to deliver; could you two come over here?”
Of course my parents agreed.
To their surprise they found the dog owner to be Pulitzer Prize–winning author Louis Bromfield. His home was originally in Mansfield, Ohio, but he also had a home in Hollywood, California, and until recently one in Paris, where he had lived a few years. My parents were very familiar with Bromfield, as his books were widely read, and two were made into successful films, The Rains Came and Mrs. Parkington. Bromfield had recently been in Germany and had seen a new breed, Boxers. Boxers were the result of the interbreeding of Bullmastiffs and English Bulldogs and were considered perfect working dogs.
At that time Adolph Hitler was taking control of the German government, and Bromfield knew that if he didn’t bring these dogs to America quickly, he might not get another opportunity.
Al and Ann were happy to help out, and Louis Bromfield was especially pleased that my mother had read several of his books and was a fan. It was a perfect delivery of puppies and he thanked them profusely. Then Bromfield said, “Take your pick of the puppies.” Surprised as they were, they did not hesitate, and four weeks later a female puppy was delivered to their home.

#TuesdayTreasures: New Release by Toni V. Sweeney

Good Morning and Welcome to another edition of Tuesday Treasures!

As an author, a new release is always something to treasure. From the moment of creation, to completion then contract, the entire process is a thrill. Then comes the promotion part. Many authors are intimidated or overwhelmed by the advertising aspect of writing. Some enjoy this aspect of their career just as much as the writing.

As a reader, the discovery of a new author or a favorite author's new release is something we anticipate.

Either way, new releases are treasured.

That's why I'm pleased to bring you my new author friend, Toni V Sweeney's new release,  THE SUNDAY MAN (Book 5: Liam, in the McCoy Family Saga.)

Like his uncle Padraig, Liam McCoyh is the black sheep of the McColy family’s third generation.  Unlike his uncle, he has no intention to change. Being the owner of some questionable businesses suits him just fine.
Unfortunately Liam never fully recovered from the shoot-out saving his cousin’s life, and if he doesn’t change his way of living soon…he may not be living much longer.

When his father demands he return to Ireland, Liam has to again become the gentleman he was raised to be. A devastating rainstorm and a spirited Irish lass will definitely change the way he thinks about a lot of things.
Excerpt:
He couldn’t believe it. Liam clutched the letter, his fingers crushing it into a ruined ball as he stared at the ceiling. Everything blurred and he realized his eyes were filled with tears.
“Are you all right?” Siobhan gave him a few moments alone to read his letter before she came in.
He didn’t answer, simply shook his head and looked away, blinking rapidly.
“Liam? What’s happened? What did the note say?” She reached for it.
“That’s none of your business.” He jerked it away, holding it so she couldn’t touch it.
“I think it is.” She didn’t attempt to take the letter again, however. “You’re upset, and if that affects your recovery…”
“Just leave me alone,” he interrupted.  He didn’t tell her he was more angry than hurt, that he, Liam McCoy, who’d always been so careful not to form any emotional  attachments, had finally found someone he could really care for…and she’d tossed him aside. He was too sharp to be captured…and now, the one woman to whom he’d told he might love if she wished it, had jilted him, because of something he couldn’t control, because he was ill. I’m this way because of you. I left your bed and rode into the rain and that’s why you’ve deserted me?
Injured masculine pride stung.
**************
Wow...sounds intriguing doesn't it? You might know we get in on the 5th book in a series, right? LOL!
Anyway you can purchase The Sunday Man directly from the Publisher, or at Amazon.  It is also available in the UK, France and Germany (I think).
Hope you enjoyed today's treasure!
Drop by each week for Tuesday Treasures, Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlight.
Until next time...take care and God Bless. PamT
