The Haunted Man
THE HAUNTED MAN
It started back when I was ten
I was so much younger then
When I awoke deep in the night
To see the first fright of my life.
I had woke from dreamless sleep
And from my bed I did creep
While my family in silence slept
Down the stairway I had crept.
Not daring to turn on the light
I saw only by moonlight
And ran my hand along the wall
So I would not trip and fall.
Finally now I was down
The journey made without a sound
And then I thought that this was scary
For sure it was extraordinary
This old house had creaked and moaned
The steps had always squeaked and groaned
And now I moved about in silence
This was sure a case for science!
Now standing in the living room
Squinting through the dim lit gloom
I looked across the dining table-
I’ll tell it all if I am able…
The moon now lit the white lace drapes
And here is where my mind escapes
For even with the windows closed
They stretched out like when the wind does blow…
And from the windows on both sides
Came the ghosts with unseen strides
There must have been about thirteen
And each one held a knife honed keen!
The moonlight danced on blades of steel
The knives they held were very real
Just like the one on the butcher block
Big and broad with a wooden stock!
When they turned to look at me
Their eyes were blazing red
I wished I had never gotten
Out of my safe warm bed!
I watched them walk right through the table
Each one with knife held high
I could not move if I was able
And thought I’d surely die!
Though I tried to call for help
My voice had now gone dry
All I could do was stand in place
I could not even cry.
I don’t know what happened next
I must have passed out cold
They found me there in the morning
And would not believe what I had told.
Since that day my life has changed
The goings-on have been so strange
Believe this story if you can-
For it is told by a haunted man.

Silence
But in your silence I discern
The many things that I might learn
Pressed against the thin drawn lips
Waiting in your fingertips...
For in those thoughts I may detect
Useful things I may reject-
Better they're not said at all
Then send a blow to make me fall...
Oh the mind can hear the thought
That the waiting ears cannot...
And though you seek to comfort me
What harm is there to set it free?
Said or thought I do not care
I will find some value there
For the truth is often found
In the things that make no sound.

New Review
Jupiter's Children........An interesting read telling the constant story of the battle between good and evil. Mr. Carson brings in all the playersof the supernatural battle including satan, his cohorts, and the angels remaining with the creator. There's a lot of storylines going on here and sometimes I forgot one story as I read into another one. However, overall, I enjoyed the book and can see a sequel possibly andvancing the main character, Johnny Angel. John Grady Plymouth, California

Level The Field
Writers have always used the tools available in their time; from quill pens and parchment to the old Underwood typewriters, word processors and computers. But the balance of power has long been stacked against them when the work was finished.
Getting the books to the audience has always been a challenge and while some writers are excellent at their craft or have an urgent message to share they are not necessarily good at marketing and promotion or have the time and energy required.
Enter agents and publishers-a Godsend to writers; a great tool to get the job done! IF you are fortunate enough to get their time and attention. They are busy people too and while they may be great at what they do they simply do not have time to read every work that fills their mail box. Nor do they have the budget to finance and promote all the works they feel are deserving of the effort.
I understand that many traditional publishers, while using the latest tools and technology themselves are naturally upset about the new tools available to writers to produce and market their work via non-traditional channels like Amazon and Createspace. And it is not hard to understand why. All writers would like to reach a large audience; they all have something to say and most would love to have a Best Seller at least once-and for that the validation of a well known imprint is invaluable! But like everything else in life the process can be daunting, frustrating, long and a little like winning a lottery. It usually is an arduous uphill climb that takes a lot of time away from the process of creation.
Enter the Internet with its tools like Facebook, Twitter, Amazon and Createspace. Though writing and publishing a book still takes help and expertise these tools level the field making it possible for writers to build and reach an audience without all the hoops of the traditional routes of the past.
The world of technology changes fast and while most of us embrace this change those who do not are destined to go the way of the dinosaurs. I myself do not wish to be discovered after I am gone.
You can help today's authors level the field by doing what readers have always done; talk about and share the books you love or the ones that spoke to you in some way. Then use the tools available on the Internet and share, share, share.
I and many others will thank you.

The Better Mousetrap
It has been said; Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door. Well, this may be true if the world finds out about it.
So it is with books-many a great work has been gathering dust, lost in a pile of overwork and underpaid on some desk whose occupant may never have the time to spot it in the constant ebb and flow of the manilla sea.
A Best Seller is often not just a great story but a fortunate one; rescued from the ocean of envelopes by good fortune and borne along on the winds of experienced marketing announcing it's impending arrival as it rounds the Cape of Good Hope.
But those were the good old days. Today's Internet has learned to ride the waves on sites like Facebook and Twitter, Goodreads and Amazon; more authors have a chance of being discovered instead of being marooned on desert islands with nothing but a better mousetrap.
Today saw the launch of my new Facebook author's page and the recent release of my new book, Jupiter's Children now has the opportunity to sail the world and find new ports of call. But some things haven't changed and one of them is the need to tell people about it; and you have the opportunity to participate in the process. Would you take a moment to share my new page with your friends? Perhaps even buy a copy and tell us how you liked it. I promise I will do my best to entertain you with this book and my future works as well.
The world may not beat a path to my door but at least it will have the opportunity to make the decision.

Patience
One of the secrets of happiness and success in any endeavor is patience. Things just don't always go as planned. Unforseen events can and often do lead astray even the most carefully made plans of mice and men.
The hard copy release of Jupiter's Children is now awaiting a new cover and we hope to have news of a release date soon. The book currently sports a generic cover which is not all bad in itself. It is possible the publisher will release that version and the new cover version when it becomes available.
In the meantime the book has been sent to several reviewers and those reviews will be posted as they arrive. Feel free to read the Kindle version in the interim and post a review on Amazon or Goodreads. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Anything in life worth doing is worth doing well and doing things well requires the thing that often mice and men do not have enough of.
I thank you for your patience.

Coming Attractions
I am happy to announce that my book Jupiter's Children will soon be available in print! I am hoping for news of the release before the end of July.
Many readers still prefer curling up with a book instead of a laptop or Kindle and I am one of them. Although in today's busy high-tech world both have their place and I as a writer am happy to be available in any form of media. Like any artist or musician the work is only half done when it is created; it is not complete until viewed, heard or read and appreciated by someone. Until it has an audience it is just stored energy.
I am currently at work on a new novel; my first in a long time and hope to complete it before the holidays. Until then I will be keeping it under wraps even though I am excited about it and eager to tell the tale.
So along with the summer movies please add Jupiter's Children to your summer entertainment schedule; be it on a Kindle or in paperback curled up in an easy chair in a quiet corner of your world.

Graduation
All of the recent graduations in our family and friends lives remind me that with discipline and effort people can accomplish anything they set their minds to.
It is with that truth in mind that I have set out once again to write a new novel.
After years of overcoming a neurological condition God has seen fit to inspire me to be creative once again and placed the examples of all the recent grads in front of me to renew my spirit.
This new work reminds me that the first part of the word CAN't is CAN and with God's help I too will earn my degree and graduate with a successful novel.
