“I take care of myself. I don’t need someone to take care of me,” Erin said.
Will ran a thumb across her pouty bottom lip. He didn’t doubt that she believed it. That stubborn tilt to her jaw said she was independent and self-reliant. She was tough, and strong, and he wouldn’t want her any other way. But God, he just wanted to hold her and care for her for a change.

He stroked her hair again, then through the strands until his hand was at the back of her neck.
“And then, I’m going to push that indecent dress up just a little higher, and see what you wore for me tonight,” he said, feeling her heart beat under his fingers.
She swallowed and started to reach for him, but he stilled her hand, covering it with his. He shifted so he could pull her closer.
“I know it’s something sexy,” he breathed into her neck, then pressed his lips against the soft skin below her ear. “Lace? Silk?”
Her breath escaped in a rush as he ran his hand down her body, over the curves that had been tempting him all night. His fingers played with the hem of the short dress and Erin shifted as his hand moved under the fabric and across soft, warm skin. His hands roamed higher, up the back of her legs, along the curve there and moving higher still.
His mouth went dry as he realized the lace and silk he was reaching for wasn’t there. Instead, his fingers brushed her soft, hot core, making her squirm against his hand.
“Jesus, Erin,” he breathed.

She killed the ignition, slipped the satchel’s strap over her head, and shouldered the door open. Outside, the cool morning breeze played in her hair.
The airship was a great hulking beast of a thing. The body reminded her of a bowhead whale. In the back, twin vertical steering fins were probably six stories tall at least. The gondola boasted three, four, maybe even five levels—she couldn’t quite tell from this distance—and was snuggly attached to the belly of the plump, stretching bladder filled with helium gas. Four massive propellers stabbed out from the gondola’s front and rear and could be swiveled horizontally or vertically for additional lift or propulsion. Interview with Kat Shehata, RUSSIAN TATTOOS

Can you give us a brief overview of your latest book? Is it part of a series? Russian Tattoos: Obsession is Book I of a trilogy. Falling in love isn’t a crime, but falling in love with a Russian mob boss could be deadly. When Carter realizes she’s in too deep with Vladimir and the Russian mafia, she must fight for her freedom before the attraction turns fatal. Love is blind, but it could also be deadly.
Do you have a favorite character?It's hard to pick, but Boris might be my favorite character in Russian Tattoos. He is a Russian hit man, and Vladimir charges him with babysitting Carter while he is at work. Some of the scenes between them are funny, while others are terrifying. When fans write to me about the book, most want to know more about him. He’s definitely the character fans love to hate, or hate to love.
What factors influenced your decision to go with a particular agent or publisher?I chose to publish with Limitless Publishing for three reasons:
I had read several books by Limitless Publishing authors before I submitted and knew Russian Tattoos would be a good fit with their current list.
With Limitless, I have the freedom to do my own marketing. I love making teasers, trailers, and connecting with readers as much as I love to write. Some publishers don’t give authors the freedom to run their own marketing campaigns and that was a huge downside with some of the larger publishers.
Limitless authors and very supportive of one another. I liked the idea of belonging to a group, and I am so impressed by how quickly they welcomed me to the team. We have a private group on Facebook where we share ideas, promotion opportunities, and make critique group connections. My fellow authors are some of the nicest people I know.
If you used a graphic designer/publisher’s designer, how involved were you during the creative process for your cover?I am a detail-oriented person, and I gave my publisher a lot of information about the tattoos Vladimir has on his hands. In the Russian criminal world, each tattoo has a very specific meaning, and I could not risk having a crucial mistake on my cover. I sent the cover design team pictures, illustrations, and a placement map of where the tattoos belong on Vladimir’s skin. I almost fell out of my chair when my publisher revealed the cover for Russian Tattoos. It was not what I expected, but I love it. They totally nailed it, and the tattoos are perfect.
What is your writing process? Do you listen to music or do you like silence?
I would love to write in silence, but I have an active family and a dog that loves squeaky toys. I listen to music on replay to tune out distractions. I often play music in Russian and Spanish because I don’t speak either language. It helps me stay focused on my writing.
Do you outline your story or just go where your muse takes you?I follow a screenwriting formula and write in three-acts like a movie script. I know from the beginning the setup and where the characters are going, but how they get there plays out as I write their story.
What kinds of marketing [twitter, facebook, blog, forums] are you involved with for promoting your book(s)?I am very active on my Facebook fan page www.facebook.com/katshehatafansand I do a lot of Facebook parties with my fellow authors. I have worked closely with elephants, primates, camels, bats, exotic birds, and everything in between. I weave my love of animals into all of my books.
What’s next for you?I am working hard to finish the second book in the trilogy, Prisoner, where Carter and Vladimir’s tumultuous love affair plays out on his home turf in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Being an author is the best job in the world, and I can’t wait to share the rest of the series with all the wonderfully supportive readers out there. I don’t want to ruin the surprise, but expect the unexpected.

Valette blackmails Marianne into working for him on a super secret mission. These two are like oil and water, bickering and testing each other at every turn. Valette only cares about one thing - rescuing a very important prisoner and if Marianne is compromised during the mission, he's prepared to leave her behind.
This is a very impressive debut by Ms. Bateman. I absolutely loved the sparks between Marianne and Nicolas. The dialogue was spot on and I was sitting on the edge of my seat to find out what happened next. The romance that develops between Marianne and Nicolas did not seem forced, but slowly the two realize that their feelings between them had changed. I loved how Ms. Bateman wove in historical facts about Louis-Charles into the plot. A very enjoyable read. Highly recommended.

We stood there and looked around, an awkward silence playing between us. Then he stepped closer and took my hand in his, sending a bolt of staggering electricity zipping through my chest. “Her hand fits perfectly in mine.” He whispered this, as if confirming it with someone. His gaze locked on it, analyzing, then with a shake of his head, he spoke louder. “Sophia, I’m sorry. I …I lied to you.”
I looked at him—bewilderment crinkling my face—and tried to understand. “Lied?” 

My voice broke. “I don’t get it.”
 
“I wasn’t sick that day. Well, in a way I was, I guess. The truth is, I was gut-sick. 

That guy …he was sitting by you the whole day …and …and he never left your side. I’d check throughout the day, but he was still there. I couldn’t help it. I was insanely jealous.” He looked down, his tone deepening as he flexed his fingers that were still laced through mine.

He lifted his hair off his forehead, pushing it up. His eyes locked on mine again, captivating me. I couldn’t look away. My self-consciousness took over—heckling me. The way I looked right now—with my hair a matted mess from the mist, and no makeup on—must look ridiculous. I drew away, making myself smaller.
 
I laughed my nervous laugh and kicked the sand with my shoe. “Who, him? You mean …Brian?” My words wobbled, but I giggled, unable to believe that Brian talking to me could make anyone jealous.

EXCERPT:I have zero interest in marrying Trevor, so I haven’t given that detail attention, but it’s clearly been on the other girls’ minds. I’ve seen it in their indecision. #Review: IN TIME FOR YOU by Chris Karlsen

When sisters Electra and Emily fall through a tear in time, they must use their wits to survive in 1357 England. IN TIME FOR YOU is the story of courage, desire and the need to protect one another. I enjoyed reading this story although it's the first one in the series that I've read. I assume the previous books dealt with the other knights who time-traveled and though it would have been helpful to know their stories, it's not essential to enjoying this story.

The author had clearly done research and painted a realistic picture of life in medieval times, but I thought Emily's character would not fare very well. She was much too outspoken and would probably have been punished for some of her actions. With that slight criticism aside, the story has the power to grab the reader and take them on a roller coaster ride. Will the sisters be able to return to their own time? Does anyone realize what happened to them?  Without giving any spoilers away, the plot moved along nicely to a surprising ending. Fans of time travel will enjoy this story.

There is one other hope for help the sisters don’t know exists. It’s Electra’s lover, Roger Marchand. A time traveler himself, he never told her of his past. When he realizes what has happened to the sisters, he enlists the help of a scientist friend to help him open the suspected passageway through time. I was born and raised in Chicago. My father was a history professor and my mother was, and is, a voracious reader. I grew up with a love of history and books.
My parents also love traveling, a passion they passed onto me. I wanted to see the places I read about, see the land and monuments from the time periods that fascinated me. I’ve had the good fortune to travel extensively throughout Europe, the Near East, and North Africa. 
I am a retired police detective. I spent twenty-five years in law enforcement with two different agencies. My desire to write came in my early teens. After I retired, I decided to pursue that dream. I write three different series. My paranormal romance series is called, Knights in Time. My romantic thriller series is Dangerous Waters. The newest is The Bloodstone Series. Each series has a different setting and some cross time periods, which I find fun to write.
I currently live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and five wild and crazy rescue dogs.
