Interview with S.M. Blooding, WHISPERS OF THE SKYBORNE

Can you give us a brief overview of your latest book? Is it part of a series?

In this book, he discovers that the real enemy is hiding behind the faces he’s been fighting, and he has to try to save his people from their plan to annihilate their planet.
Do you have a favorite character?Right now, my favorite character is Neira. She’s a great leader in that she understands her people and her land. She has a great love for them and is willing to do what is needed for them.
She has so many layers, and she was a total surprise character. Originally, I’d created her because I didn’t want Synn to take over the leadership of the League. Well, he refused and I had to come up with a Plan B. However, the more I get to know her, the more I realize she’s a pretty awesome person.
Do you outline your story or just go where your muse takes you?I outline and go where my muse takes me.
I keep track of my pace by word count. By 1,000 words, we need to reach the inciting incident. By 5,000, we need to know what the theme of the book is. Etc., etc., etc. But that is all rather loose. I usually outline (loosely) the first five to ten chapters, and then work backward from the end for about three chapters.
Then, as I go, I outline each chapter. I write down what the point of the chapter is, show that to my characters, and then let them go. Sometimes, the outline is fairly detailed. Most times, it’s just a word or two, or even part of a conversation that needs to be had.
As I progress the story forward, I look at the end again and work it backward. My objective is to always keep my characters on track and to never let the pacing drag. If I don’t, my characters tend to take over the story and talk and talk and talk about stuff that doesn’t matter to anyone.
Did you hire an editor to review your manuscript before publishing?I always hire an editor. The few times I didn’t were epic failures. It means that I have to eat hot dogs and mac’n cheese, and watch 10 pounds added to my butt because of it. But going without editing has proven to be disastrous.
My writing is pretty clean, typically. But! There are times when I see, hear, and know what’s going on in a scene, and it just doesn’t translate. I just survived a small stint where all my editors were crazy busy and my deadline was super tight.
I’ve learned that it’s best to just push back the publishing deadline and wait. I’ve discovered a few more good editors, too. So, that helps.
What have you’ve learned during your self-publishing journey?A lot. A great cover means sales!
But, also, it doesn’t mean everything. They might purchase the book because your cover is amazing, but that doesn’t mean that they will read your book. Giving away your work for a reduced/free price doesn’t always equal sales. What that means is that people will buy your book. Great. It’s on their cell phone, Kindle, iPad, tablet, whatever. But they’re not reading it. When they don’t read it, they don’t go looking for the next book. When they don’t go looking for the next book, they don’t buy the next book.
So, sometimes, having a book at a higher price is like reminding people, “Hey! I bought that book. I should go read it.” Instead of forgetting about it.
The flipside of that coin, though, is that you get fewer downloads. So, you really just know how many people are ignoring your books instead of wondering where all your reviews are.
Quality matters…and it doesn’t.
When people are justifying themselves on why they didn’t read your book, they pick out the one typo you had on page 15 and say, “It was riddled with typos and was in desperate need of an editor.” Which is fine. Every book could use a little more help, even from the Big 5.
But, then, you see them give another book high reviews and it was one that you put down for the same reasons.
Editing is hugely important. Don’t get me wrong.
But if you can just hit your reader’s “interest bone” just right, it doesn’t really matter if there are typos or not.
Besides Amazon, are there any other sites where your books are for sale?My issue is that on some sites some of my books are under S.M. Blooding and some are under SM Blooding. It’s very frustrating, but all my books are here.

Do you find it difficult to juggle your time between marketing your current book and writing your next book?I used to. A year ago, that was the hardest thing for me because as I’m marketing my Devices of War novel, I’m writing/editing my next Whiskey Witches novel. They’re two very different series. They have two very different plots and sets of characters, two extremely different voices.
But I took last year off from writing. I had some major changes in my life, new people added to my everyday routines.
And now, it’s not so tough. I’m back to writing what needs to be written in the allotted space/time I have. Zero excuses. I either get it done, or I quit. I want to make this my full-time job, and I can’t do that if I allow myself a whole bunch of excuses.
So, I learned how to juggle.
What advice would you give a new author just entering into the self-publishing arena?Prepare for some really hard work. Yeah. Yeah. I hear you. You think you’ve done hard work before. I did, too.
I’ve been working my butt off in this arena for nineteen years. My first book was published in 1997. I’ve been picked up by a traditional publisher, and then dropped. I’ve been picked up by a couple of small publishers, and then dropped. I’ve had to fight to get my rights back after a publisher folded.
I’ve published over 20 books in that time period. Some can’t be republished for a very long time. Some shouldn’t be republished. Ever.
If you’re going to make it, you’re going to have to make your own luck. That “luck” is going to look a lot like hard work. Some authors truly are lucky. They publish their first book. The readers overlook all their newbie mistakes.
But, chances are, you aren’t going to be that person. Chances are, you’re going to be the one who launches a book and then it’s instantly destroyed. Or completely ignored.
So, if you’re going to walk this path, be sure this is something you really, really, really want to do. You will hate it at times. It will make you cry at times. It’ll make you rue the day you ever said, “Hey, I could write a book.”
Anyone can write a book.
Fewer can write that book, fall flat on their face, get up, and do it again.
Besides writing, do you have any other passions?
OMW. Do I have other passions? That is such a silly question. LOL!
Most of my passions are writing/publishing related right now because that’s what I have time for. Graphics design. Website design. Music. Writing. Researching. Editing.
But I’m a crafter/creator. I crochet. I sew. I quilt. I’m helping my dear, dear friend and almost sister-in-law start her soap business (PinUpSoapS.com).
I spend a lot of my time supporting other artists. By “a lot,” I mean, my free time—which I don’t have a lot of—by helping them with their websites, and their marketing. I do what they need done so they can concentrate on their art because I want them to be successful.
I love wine. Oh, dear. Yes. I love wine.
I love my Darling Dork and his two girls, Things 1 & 2. I’ve really taken to this Wicked Step-Mother role. I love it.
One day—one day—I’m going to re-engage a few of my other passions. Traveling, for one. Hiking and camping for another. I love to shoot. I’d love to learn to fish. I love being outside and need to get back to that again.
What’s next for you?Devices of War will continue in 2017 with the continuation series that is tentatively called The Skyborne Saga. I’m working on the origin short story this month, Planet Fall. That’s a working title, but I’m very excited about it. I love telling stories about villains (as the people of Devices of War see the Skyborne right now), and then showing them as living people. That’s what that short story will do. It’ll be free to those who subscribe to my newsletter.
There’s a very real possibility that a series of episodes will be written for either Captain Rose and her Sky Gypsies, or for Haji and his group—which needs a name so badly. Right now, I’m calling them the Marines, but I can’t use that term.
Right now, however, I’m working on Blood Moon Magick, which will launch May 30. Following that, is Barrel of Whiskey that will launch in June. Witches of the West is currently set for an October release. That’s all for my supernatural Whiskey Witchesseries.
It looks like Dreamland Stories will finally launch in December with Mechanic’s Nightmare. Not a super sexy title, but—for the love of Pete—I LOVE this series! I love it!
And Dream Killers will finally, finally continue early 2017 with a set of stories from Wonderland. Dreamland’s version of Wonderland. So, you just never know what could happen. I love Dreamland.
Book Blurb:The world has changed. The Great Families are no longer in power. Queen Nix of the Hands of Tarot has been stripped of her title and incarcerated. The League of Cities has been formed to provide a new line of defense to the smaller tribal nations. Not without consequences, though. Another of the original Great Families has been destroyed. As the new leaders rise from the ashes, a new threat comes to light; something no one saw coming, something that had been lurking under the surface of their society for generations. The Skyborne. As they discover just how deep the Skyborne’s influences are, they realize the war they thought they’d been fighting . . . . . . wasn’t the real one.

Interview with Amanda K Byrne, BROKEN DOWN

Have you ever had a minor character evolve into a major one? Did that change the direction of the novel at all? Sort of. Krista first appears in Hidden Scars(she’s Sara’s best friend), and while I’d originally intended for Hidden Scars to be a standalone, Krista decided she wanted her own story (yes, my characters are annoying voices in my head), and Broken Down was born, giving me the second book in the Hidden Scars series.
Are you currently under a traditional publishing contract for future books or do you have manuscripts that you will self-publish? Are you doing both? I’m currently under contract with Lyrical Press, an imprint of Kensington. The first book in my New Adult romantic suspense trilogy will be released this summer! I’ll continue self-publishing, if the project’s right. Look for the next book in the Hidden Scars series to release in June of 2017.
What is your writing process? Do you listen to music or do you like silence? I tend to bounce between projects when I’m in the drafting stage until one really grabs my attention. I usually write a 1000 to 1500 words a day when I’m drafting, but I’ve learned over the years that if my brain isn’t giving me new words, it’s better to turn the laptop off for the day and do something else. I make playlists for a lot of my books, though I rarely listen to music when I’m actually writing. I don’t like having someone else’s words in my ears when I’m trying to write. If I’m drafting a fight scene or one with a lot of action, though, I might listen to classical music. Morten Lauridsen (a choral composer) is a favorite. His pieces are gorgeous.
Do you outline your story or just go where your muse takes you? Outlines scare me. When I get an idea, I may make notes or write out a synopsis to help keep it in my head, but that’s about it. Usually I just write chapters until I either reach the end of the story or I run out of steam. That means I have more than a few unfinished stories lying around, but I’m okay with that.
Do you find it difficult to juggle your time between marketing your current book and writing your next book? Not really. I find the best marketing tool is to write the next book, and I would almost always rather be doing that. So I’ll set aside about fifteen minute in the morning to check in on social media and then do it again around lunch time and then again in the evening, but the rest of my time is spent on the next book.
What advice would you give a new author just entering into the self-publishing arena? Take your time, learn everything you can first, ask lots of questions, and do not, under any circumstance, skip the copy editor. And keep your expectations reasonable. If you’re a debut author, it can take time to build your audience and make back the money you spent, so don’t give up!
Besides writing, do you have any other passions? Reading. While everyone else is binge watching the latest season of Daredevil or House of Cards, I’ve got my nose in a book (though Underwood on House of Cardsis a spectacularly manipulative son of a bitch. I kind of love him). I’m also a big baker. It’s relaxing.
Some fun facts about you, which do you prefer – dogs or cats? Chocolate or vanilla? Coffee or Tea? Talk or Text? Day or Night? I’m a cat person. My partner doesn’t like cats (and he’s allergic to boot), and he gets irritated with my cat pretty easily. I would rather email than talk or text. I rarely talk on the phone with anyone, and text message notifications annoy me, even if the phone’s on vibrate. Give me hot cocoa any day over coffee or tea – Ghiradelli makes the best hot cocoa mix.
What’s next for you? 2016 is a busy, busy year for me. The first book in my New Adult romantic suspense trilogy, Game of Shadows releases in July, with book two, Game of Vengeance, releasing in October. I’m also in an anthology with Teresa Noelle Roberts, Tina Donahue, and several others, set to release sometime in August. Nine short novellas, all set in New Orleans, all pretty steamy. Mine is called Sultry; it’s a friends-to-lovers story about a guy who has a sort of embarrassing request to make of his closest female friend.

Interview with Ashley Drew, NEVER STOP FALLING

Do you have a favorite character?Hands down, one of my favorite characters in my story is Braiden Sanders, Nick’s other best friend! This guy is completely nuts! I think when I wrote his character, I was thinking “Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn) in Fast Times at Ridgemont High” mixed with a little bit of “Joey Tribbiani in Friends.” He gives the story a little comedic substance!
If you used a graphic designer/publisher’s designer, how involved were you during the creative process for your cover?I absolutely love abstract covers, so of course when I was thinking about my book cover, I knew I wanted something artsy and abstract. Although Never Stop Falling is categorized as New Adult Fiction, it also has a Contemporary appeal, so I wanted a cover that could appeal to readers who are interested in both sub-genres. My cousin, Raeanne Villongco, is a graphic designer, so I let her take the reins in coming up with an idea for the cover! Her thought process behind the design was to have the main image on the cover represent Corinne’s heart, and if you look closely, the veins form the outline of the maps of California and New York with the silhouette of a girl falling in between. Without giving too much of the plot away, the image represents how Corinne’s heart is in two places. The triangle overlay was added to represent the various love triangles in the story. There were multiple designs that Raeanne came up with, but the moment I saw this one, I knew I had to go with it!
What is your writing process? Do you listen to music or do you like silence?Music is my muse. I’ll listen to my writing playlist on repeat when I’m not writing, so whether it’s in the car, or when I’m out for a walk, or when I’m cooking or cleaning, it’s always on. My best ideas come to me when I’m listening to my playlist, so when I’m ready to sit down and write, no time is wasted trying to come up with ideas. I usually like to have my music playing while I write, but if I find that it’s too distracting, I’ll turn it off.
Did you hire an editor to review your manuscript before publishing?Of course! I don’t think any writer should publish anything without having an editor look at it. All writers need a fresh pair of eyes to look at their manuscripts because more than likely, there are going to be things that are missed. I combed through my manuscript a billion times (okay not that many, but it seemed like it!), and I couldn’t believe the things I hadn’t caught or noticed before!
Besides Amazon, are there any other sites where your books are for sale?Yes! My book is available on Barnes and Noble online, Kobo, and Apple iBooks.

What advice would you give a new author just entering into the self-publishing arena?Work hard, work hard, work hard! There is nothing about this process that is easy. The writing part is one hurdle. The publishing and marketing aspect of it is another. You have to be determined, and you have to set realistic goals. You can’t go into this thinking you’re going to become the next New York Times bestseller (though wouldn’t that be nice?!). And don’t set your expectations too high. Going into this, my goal was to see my words in print, to be able to hold my book in my hands and say that I wrote a novel. And I told myself that I would take whatever comes after that.
Besides writing, do you have any other passions?I don’t really have any other passions besides reading and writing. I do love the outdoors and exploring new places. My family means the world to me, so when I’m not writing, my time is spent with my husband and daughter. I’m also a foodie, so I love checking out new restaurants!
What’s next for you?I’m currently working on my second book that I hope to have a blurb and title for in the next few months. I can’t wait to put this story out as it is definitely a different type of love story than Never Stop Falling. I don’t have an exact release date for this one, but I’m aiming for early 2017.

#Excerpt: TRIFLING FAVORS by Heather Hiestand

Victor smirked. “I’ll fix you, Redcake. I already did. And don’t get cozy with my sister.” He pulled a wooden truncheon, similar to a police weapon, out from under his coat.
Greggory realized that had been the reason for Victor’s strange immobility. Before he could so much as shout out a protest, the young man swung the truncheon at the infamous window. The glass shattered, shards raining down inside the tearoom.
Greggory heard Miss Popham shriek. Was she injured? He heard the truncheon fall onto the wood floor inside the broken window. Victor ran down the street away from him, the coward. Greggory kicked the rest of the glass out of the frame and climbed back into the tearoom to check on Miss Popham, his heart beating at double speed.
“Are you injured?” he called, his eyes dazzled by the light outside. He couldn’t see. Instinctively, he put out his hand. Small, warm fingers touched his hand, then squeezed his palm.
“I’m well enough. Why did he do that?”
“He belongs in Bedlam,” Greggory said, squeezing Miss Popham’s hand in return. He didn’t want to let go. Moments passed as he blinked his vision back into working repair. When he could, he peered at her closely, brushing her abundant hair away from her face so he could examine it. While her perfect, peaches-and-cream skin seemed untouched, he found a tiny speck of blood on her cheek. His finger came away with a minuscule shard of glass.
He showed it to her. “He’ll pay for this, Miss Popham. I’ll see him jailed for assault. You have his address?”
“Of course, Mr. Redcake.”
He continued his examination, finally, regretfully, releasing her hand so he could check for glass. One piece had imbedded itself in her sleeve, leaving a hole, but otherwise, she had sustained no damage.
“I will pay to have your blouse repaired,” he told her.
“Oh, it scarcely needs mending,” she said, much too calmly for a woman who’d just been hit by flying glass.
Her willingness to dismiss the attack made him want to shake her. Or embrace her. “You could have been badly wounded, even blinded.”
“You told me to go into the kitchen,” she reminded him. “Not only that, I brought Victor’s wrath down upon your tearoom.”
Was she staying so eerily calm for fear that she’d lose her position? “Your mother’s sins, even your father’s, aren’t yours,” Greggory said.

Greggory Redcake's plate is full. Widowed young and left with two small children, the manager of the Kensington location of the illustrious tea shop is besieged on all sides between the bakery and family matters. If only his remarkably efficient shop assistant, Betsy Popham, could manage his home life, too! But Greggory can't linger on thoughts of Betsy's fetching smile when a dead body is discovered in the bakery…
Betsy has no time for romance, not even with the delectable Mr. Redcake, whose kisses are all too unforgettable. Haunted by a specter from her family's past, Betsy is terrified that the man blackmailing her has turned to deadly violence. Yet the only way to save her position--and possibly her life--is to accept Greggory's help as their delicious attraction sweetens into the tantalizing promise of true love…

#Excerpt: YOU CAN HAVE MY HEART, BUT DON'T TOUCH MY DOG by Dixie Cash

Close to sputtering, all Sandi could manage was, “I love Waffle and he loves me.”
“Look, I apologize for coming across wrong. I got overexcited when I realized I’d found my dog.” His deep voice almost became a purr. Sexy and seductive. “I know that women who are alone tend to get involved with their pets, especially if they don’t have much social life or kids to take care of and—
“What? You know nothing about me. About my life.”
“Now don’t get upset. I asked the woman who gave me this puppy about you. She told me you’re divorced and don’t have any kids, so you give all your love to animals.”
Such a rage raced up Sandi’s spine her head might explode and her eyes might burst from their sockets. She squelched the powerful urge to grab her head with both hands in case that very thing happened. She would kill that Prissy dead, dead, dead the very next time she saw her. “Prissy Porter discussed me and my personal life with you?” Her voice had become as shrill as a harpy’s. “Why, in all my life, I’ve never—”
“Now, calm down.” Nick patted the air with his palm. “I didn’t mean to upset you. What I mean is, you said you were in love with a parrot, too. What that says to me is you throw that “love” word around pretty freely. Maybe you need a boyfriend or something.”
That was the last straw. “What?” She sank to the floor on her knees beside Waffle and wrapped protective arms around his neck. Summoning her dignity, she set her jaw and lifted her nose. “I’d like for you to leave my store, Mr. Conway.”
“But—”
“I’d hate to call the police, but I will.” She leveled a searing stare at him that said she meant business. But it was hard to be tough when she was sitting on the floor and he stood six feet tall above her. Their stares locked.
“Okay, I’ll leave,” he snapped. “But I’ll be back. Buster is my dog and you can’t refuse to give him to me.” He reached down and stroked Waffle’s head, putting only inches between her face and his. “Don’t worry, Buster,” he said to Waffle. “I’ll be back to rescue you.”
He straightened and stepped back. Waffle sprang forward. Even with all her strength, Sandi barely held him in check. She scrambled to her feet, still hanging onto his collar. “We’ll see about that. Have you ever heard possession is nine-tenths of the law?”
He glared at her. “Oh, yeah? Have you ever heard a picture’s worth a thousand words?”

BLURB:
General Manager of the Flying C Ranch, Nick Conway, has searched for months for his lost dog, Buster. Giving up on ever finding him, he looks for a new dog and finds a puppy at a pet grooming shop. While he went to the shop to see a puppy, he also encountered a beautiful redheaded woman he can’t put out of his mind. Little does he know that she found Buster in an alley and has now claimed him as her own. Sparks fly between Sandi and Nick when he steals Buster and sues her in court for custody. It will take a mouthy parrot, a sitting judge, the matchmaking skills of the Domestic Equalizers and Cupid himself to resolve this conflict.

I’ve read the first book in this series and it’s awesome!

At the heart of this city is Natasha Kestal, a young blackjack dealer looking for a way out. Like many, she's heard of a mythical land simply called “the Blue.” They say it’s a paradise, where the sun still shines and the waters are turquoise. More importantly, it’s a place where Nat won’t be persecuted, even if her darkest secret comes to light.
But passage to the Blue is treacherous, if not impossible, and her only shot is to bet on a ragtag crew of mercenaries led by a cocky runner named Ryan Wesson there. Danger and deceit await on every corner, even as Nat and Wes find themselves inexorably drawn to each other. But can true love survive the lies? Fiery hearts collide in this fantastic tale of the evil men do and the awesome power within us all. This is a remarkable first book in a spellbinding new series about the dawn of a new kind of magic.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00938VD1U/ref=twoen-20

Months after Nat and Wes said good-bye on the shores of the Blue, Nat is learning how to control and use her new power. She and her drakon are the last of their kind—and she’s risked her life for their reunion. When she receives a mysterious distress call, she races to help, soliciting the guidance of her new friend, the beautiful and aloof Faix Lazaved of the Blue.
Still heartbroken over losing Nat, Wes is racing cars on a New Vegas racetrack while his team is scattered and lost. When he finds out that his sister, Eliza, is being held in the golden domes of El Dorado, he does what he’s best at—running to her side—and gambles on luck to see him through one more time.
Magic, romance, and danger collide as Nat and Wes become entangled in a dark new adventure that leads right to the heart of the mystery of their frozen, broken world. It was supposed to be the best day. I was marrying the love of my life–and nothing would ever be the same.

EXCERPT:
Even from behind, he was something to behold. He had on a black leather jacket with a charcoal gray hoodie. On anyone else, it would have looked juvenile, hipster even. Like someone emulating ‘rugged’ based on what they saw in a magazine or on some TV show. This guy was all man, all testosterone with his broad shoulders and jeans that gripped an ass that I was dying to grip.Realizing that I was staring at some stranger’s behind, my eyes shot up to tamer territory, but his dark wavy hair was even more dangerous. It was just long enough that he could do that man-bun thing that was all the rage. But nothing about this man was forced. He didn’t follow trends; he made his own. His dark locks were wild and free.I hadn’t even seen his face, but I knew he was trouble. With a capital T. Which meant I was in trouble, because if I wasn’t sure I was gonna take the job before, well, I was positive now.“Oh! Mr. Carraway, I didn’t know you were on site today.”I gasped.No.NO.The allure, that instant draw…I should have known. It had only happened once before when I was partnered with the hottest guy at Rhoades High in Advanced Chem.He turned from the espresso machine and I stopped breathing.Lincoln Carraway smiled at me like a wolf about to rip out the throat of its prey.“Welcome to Make a Change, Catherine.”

#Excerpt: YOURS TRULY 2095 by Brian Paone

“Mr. Blue!” Kelly said, immediately recognizing me.
“Jeff,” I insisted.
“Jeff, how have you been? What brings you here?”
“Jeff just recently came out of a coma,” J0 interjected.
“Oh, my!”
“He thinks that, by seeing our house, it could help him,” Mr. Kaminski added.
“Of course,” she said. She looked at J0 and extended a hand. “I’m Kelly Kaminski.”
“Julie. Julie Blue,” J0 replied and shook Kelly’s hand.
“This must be so hard on you.”
“Yes, it has been. We’re getting through it, together, one day at a time.”
“Jeff is lucky to have you.”
It felt so natural to have J0 introduce herself as Julie like that. Surprisingly, it wasn’t disturbing in the slightest.
“Believe me now,” Mr. Kaminski said, “we’ve been very happy here.”
“I’m delighted to hear that,” I said.
“What can we do to help?” Kelly asked.
“I’m not really sure what I came here to find. I guess I was just hoping that being back here would spark some memory.”
“Has it?”
“Not yet, but—”
“We aren’t willing to give up,” J0 finished. “We’re trying new things every day.”
“Do you want to try going upstairs?” Mr. Kaminski suggested.
Their guests were restless on the verge of annoyance. Mr. Kaminski also seemed to notice. In his attempt to move us along, it appeared he was trying not to be overtly rude or inconsiderate.
“I think it might be helpful,” I said.

BLURB:
During Jeff's perilous journey through the future, he will have to discover the truth about J0's origins, and solve the mystery behind how he wound up in 2095, in order to uncover the reality of his own destiny.
Armed with a one-way ticket to the moon, Jeff must race against the clock to seize what might be his last chance to return home to his time. A time without hover cars, Justice Computers, or TeleSkins - a time over 100 years ago.

#Excerpt: WAY TO GO Series by Mandy Colton

I was dreaming about Gremlins, an old movie I’d watched years ago as a kid. The little critters in the movie were really cute, until they got wet and then multiplied and wreaked havoc. Somehow they’d gotten in my head and dragged a hot tub in with them, having some twisted version of a frat party. That’s when my dream turned into a nightmare—fur balls popped as the creatures multiplied, wiggling and wallering around squealing. All the bouncing around and commotion started to nauseate me. My subconscious pleaded with me to wake up and just make it stop.
When I finally opened one eye and turned to look at the clock, a line of drool followed me. I smacked at my lips, grimacing at the strange taste in my mouth, and looked down at my pillow. Yuck. I seriously slobbered in my sleep?
Nice, Lane. Can’t wait to look in the mirror.
I swiped my hand across my mouth and slowly opened the other eye. Looking down, I waited a few seconds for my vision to clear. No nightgown. Drooling and naked. Not good signs. Blinking a few times, I looked around the room.
Agh, shit!
I closed my eyes and declared in my head that I was still having a nightmare. I would open them again and just be curiously sitting here naked with a hangover. That’s all. One, two, three…
I opened one eye. Aww, fuck—I mean, fudge. What did I do? Uhn…probably did just that.
There was a man in my bed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:

She calls inquiring about a job in the newspaper, a group escort for a small tour company in Atlanta. She is hired immediately and leaves the next day with her first group to Jamaica. First, she meets a handsome pilot with the charter airline they use, and then there is one unusual group participant that doesn’t seem to belong. He leaves the group for periods of time and when things happen, he uses MacGyver like skills to get them out of the situations. She is aggravated and knows something is fishy and the bad thing is, the man is very charismatic and she’s not just a little attracted to him.
Upon their return, she finds out that the man is friends with her rather unconventional boss and after a second unusual group excursion to Puerto Rico; she knows for sure that the little tour company in Atlanta is not really what it seems on the outside. When the truth is revealed, she finds herself unintentionally dropped into a new career that she can't exactly add to her resume.
Veronica finds herself in uncomfortable and hilarious situations, surrounded by crazy tour participants, family, friends, neighbors, and pets. After a long dry spell, she finds that there is suddenly an overabundance of romance, drama, and intrigue in her life. Her life is now a sometimes very bumpy, yet exciting ride.
