Let It Be Monday, 186!
Hello dear friends!
Thank you for your patience yesterday! I hope you’re coming out of a lovely August weekend (literally HOW is it almost September!?) and I hope you’re feeling steady in this Monday. Take it slow. Let’s just ease in.
Maybe this recipe for Red Beans and Rice will help… it is a Monday tradition.
This past week I taught my first yoga class to a handful of very patient students.

Let It Be…
Friends!
Thank you for your patience and grace this Sunday! I’ll have our Sunday links for reading up on Monday this week. These days have been so full and I’d rather do a great job than a rushed job. Ya feel me?
Just like every other Sunday, I hope for you hot coffee and lots of ease. Perhaps this French Toast For One or Two will inspire you to take a few moments in the kitchen today.

White Bean Skillet Crostini
It’s been three weeks notice, about 27 texts, and four menu swaps in the making, but tonight is Friend Dinner around the big table at my house. We call it Friend Dinner because, well… I poorly named it two years ago well… we are in fact friends who dinner, so. Just be careful what you call things. It could be lame but stick.
Everyone has a task around the big table at dinner – not to bring a dish but rather, one person is in charge of the record player, someone is on water duty, someone helps me finish setting the table.

Let It Be Sunday, 185!
Hello friends!
It’s been an emotional and exciting week and, don’t worry, I’ve eaten plenty of cookies and french fries about all of it. I’ve also gone in on comfort food like Apricot Chicken with couscous – which, if you’re looking for dinner this week, is a very good idea.
I’ve been working hard in my yoga teacher training and truly it feels like opening a box of infinity.

9 Ways To Lemonade
Hey it’s me. Just sliding in your inbox with a refreshing thirst trap for ya. A thirst trap for the actually very thirsty. And more than a trap it’s a solution.
Lemonade. All kinda of ways. Pink, green, spicy, tropical, healthy, caffeinated. Gosh Beyonce would be proud.
I’m just trying to keep it fresh for us this August! These days are aggressive and we need a little solace in the glass.
Here are nine ways to lemonade.

Let It Be Sunday, 184!
Hello my friends!
I’m not sure I could tell you about my week. It was mostly blurry though I’ve heard talk of eclipses and Mercury retrograde and what I do know is that it has felt like my feet aren’t quite on the ground but I’m moving on through.
There’s a light dusting of flour still on my counter from making these doughnuts as a treat for my Yoga Teacher Training friends.

Gluten-Free Fried Chicken and fried shoestring onions
I remember the first time I had fried chicken because IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD FRIED CHICKEN. There’s a picture of it somewhere it an old family picture album – six year old Joy with a bucket of KFC fried chicken on a picnic blanket – little Joy never looking happier, most sincerely.
I come from a family of enthusiastic tofu eaters so fried chicken as a youth..

Let It Be Sunday, 183!
Hello dear friends,
I’ve been visiting my sister in Seattle this week, and if you’ll forgive me a sentence or two of weather talk – WOW I’ve been almost chilly for the first time in months. It rained. It was chilly and it rained – god bless! (Thank you for indulging me.)
We visited the restaurant Junebaby which was named (not so casually) the best restaurant in America by the Beard Foundation, and it doesn’t take reservation (which is very egalitarian of them I love it), and you most certainly have to stand in line for an early seat and it is most certainly worth every moment of waiting.

Everything Fried Pickles with buttermilk ranch dip
On the short list of life skills I’m willing to boast about are these: my ability to watch any and every Liam Neeson and Denzel Washington movie (see: Taken 2 and Man on Fire), my willingness to fight for what is right in airplane armrest territory, and my eagerness to say, “Hey, let’s fry that!”.
This recipe falls under the ‘hey let’s fry that’ category though, for what it’s worth, I’m also typing this post with my arm firmly but politely planted on an airplane armrest that is under siege by a man who frankly, seems to know no better.

Let It Be Sunday, 182!
Hello friends,
It’s been one of those weeks I’ve been eyeing on the calendar for a few good months thinking… yeeeeks I better not stack anything else into that week or I’m sure to blow a gasket. Low and behold, the week was packed to the gills, it came, I worked my ass off, it went, and here I am to tell you about it from the other side.
The past few days I’ve worked with my dearheart Cara Nicoletti, real life friend, incredible sausage maker, and now, I’m happy to say – my favorite friend to cook with in the kitchen.
