A Genius is Raised from the Dead

Five hundred years ago in 1516, Hieronymus Bosch – one of the world’s greatest painters – passed away, leaving behind a body of work that has beguiled, inspired and outraged his audiences. Sadly, an unknown number of his paintings were destroyed by fanatics during the wars of the reformation. The works that survived, however, have inspired generations of scholars, surrealist artists and science fiction writers.

Very little is known about the man behind the paintings and in 'The Infidel’s Garden,’ I’ve depicted him as a subversive who, through his controversial masterpiece: ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights'; foreshadowed the downfall of a Christian Church wallowing in corruption.

To honor this genius on the quincentenary of his death, I've written a more detailed piece about the joys of bringing such an enigmatic character back to life on my blog. You can link to it here: http://www.theinfidelsgarden.com/

And here's another link to a wonderful article on his work and life from The New York Review of Books.

Enjoy!

The Infidel's Garden - Free Reading for July

To celebrate several five star reviews and the launch of its very own blog, The Infidel’s Garden is FREE for the whole of July.

Just go to the site and click on the book link to Smashwords, Kobo and Barnes and Noble to download a free copy.
Alas, Kindle Direct publishing won’t let me offer it free, but if you would like a copy, please email me and let me know your preferred format on ingrid.banwell@gmail.com.

Oh yes – one other thing. If you loved the story and feel inclined to shout from the rooftops about it, a review would be much appreciated!
Here’s a link to The Infidel’s Garden blog which gives a little taste of the book (I hope!) and answers some of the wonderful questions I’ve had from readers.

Happy reading!
