Facilitating virtual networking has its challenges, to be sure.

Those spontaneous conversations don’t happen the same way online as they do in a physical space. Business cards are replaced with chat, eye contact is difficult to judge, and distractions abound for each individual.

But...

Engineering Virtual Event Engagement – Sneak Peek

I’ve been writing a new eBook about virtual event engagement, and here’s a sneak peek into the content. Enjoy!

So you’re hosting, planning, or speaking at a virtual event soon.

Have you thought about how you’re going to engineer engagement?

In-person events naturally lead to input from a speaker and engagement from an audience. Virtual event engagement is the interaction between the hosting operation and the viewers or attendees of your event.

Large-scale virtual events are a one-way input. The ...

Unsolicited Advice Is Not Meant for You

“When we put ourselves out there, we can become targets of another person’s thoughtless ego-trip moments.”

We’re six months into Covid-19-restricted life and I’m seeing an interesting uptick in rotten behavior. (No, I won’t be covering politics today). Actually, I’ve noticed A LOT of unsolicited advice being offered. Perhaps it’s a new habit resulting from boredom and isolation. Maybe the advice slingers believe that since they are online it’s fine to be insulting. Who knows? What is true...

Celebrating 100 Years of the #19thAmendment

100 years ago today, women won the right to vote with the ratification of the 19th Amendment.

In this presidential election year, we’ve seen (and heard) a lot of commercials, billboards, ads, and emails telling us to vote.

Today I’d like to focus on celebrating three things: celebrating those who paved the way for voting rights, the privilege of voting, and progress.

Celebrating people who paved the way

To the suffragettes, including Susan B. Anthony, who was pardoned by President Donald Trump ...

Top 5 Zoom Failures of Paid Speakers

If you could make a slideshow of the funniest video call moments you’ve experienced in the last 7 months, we might be able to bring back “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” now replaced with “America’s Funniest Work-from-Home Video Calls.”

In 2020, we don’t have the luxury of our flubs and fails to be curated to a few seconds, showed to a live audience, and get prize money for how funny we are in that short clip. Instead, our live and recorded work is so easy to do poorly, and difficult to do rig...

When Being Good Isn’t Good Enough

Many organizations in ag are busy in July and August preparing for and kicking off the 2021 selling and marketing season. With that in mind, this week’s blog will focus on taking your organization from being good to being great for a changing marketplace.

Think about a brand you love, a brand you buy over and over because of quality and consistency.

Some brands give us a sense of status among peers. Others represent our identity. Still others stand for things we believe in.

No matter why we buy...

Be an influencer to your customers

ACT Like A Pro, Issue 135

Your customers and prospects are actually your followers once you are able to positively influence them. You need that now in today’s market more than ever. It’s downright essential to transform customers into followers, and develop influence with them.

The consolidation of ag brands confuses customers & prospects. It also restricts the available market share to a small segment, and an overcrowded market means standing out and being unique is even harder.

That’s befor...
