Lassaâd Métoui was born in Gabès, Tunisia. He has been showing his work since 1985 in numerous countries: Switzerland, the Netherlands, Tunisia, Spain, Belgium, Egypt... In his practice, calligraphy creates the connection between an ancient tradition and a highly expressive modern art form.

Lassaâd Métoui received numerous awards for his work: Matmata (Tunisie) in 1989, lGold Medal at the VIIIth Salon de l'Automne in 1992 in Carquefou, First Prize in Carquefou in 1993, Gold Medal at the Festival international d'Arts plastiques of Mahrès (Tunisie) in 1995.
