Finalist!
Did you notice the nifty FINALIST badge on the front page? It's new! Into Shadow is entered in the 2015 Prize Writer Competition over at BookBzz.com. Their reviewers evaluated all of the submitted books and narrowed it down to 10 finalists in each category. Into Shadow made the top 10 for the Young Adult category. So exciting! Is Goodland for Real?
Yep, it's a real town in Kansas, current population about 4,500. A small town in the heart of "flyover" country, it's perfectly positioned to be safe from all the chaos of the 3rd World War. Check back on the blog in April to learn more about present-day Goodland and how it might change in Poppy's time. We'll be making a research visit to Goodland during spring break.

Costa Rica Cookies
One of the books I'm working on - Overachiever - is about a harried mom trying to juggle kids, work, and home life. Obviously there are some autobiographical inspirations there. :) (Including... Seat Stealer, for those who have been waiting for it!) My crazy and entertaining kids are definitely part of the inspiration there, too, just by being themselves.
