This is a nearly 50 year old lens on my A7iii. My dad gave me his old Konika & while the camera might not be useable anymore, the lens definitely was. Someone had already made a file for a 3D printed adapter, downloaded it and any hour later I was shooting with it at 55mm 1.8. It's manual focus, manual aperture control but really great bokeh and sharp once dialed in. samples and Video coming to my channel soon. You can find these lenses on eBay for $20-30 and adapters all day long for this and many other combinations. #konika #sony #a7iii

Fuji Comes out with a brand new but overpriced lens in late 2018. Michael does a review pointing out why it is overpriced. Critics attack- how dare Michael say $2,000 for an APSC wide angle lens is overpriced?! Name calling ensues. 6 days later the price drops $500. You are welcome Fuji Nation- I am fighting for you! I didn't choose the thug life, it chose me - it's probably just a promotion tho so buy it while you can if you were interested - tons of great deals on many fuji lenses lol #fuji #fujifilm

Olympus OMD E-M1x Announcement - My Thoughts

$3000 for a MFT camera body? Even a flag ship? It is a little steep. I expect that price to come down in the next year, but paired with the the new lens Olympus announced, the 150-400 F4.5, it would make an incredible, compact combination for sports and wildlife shooters.

It also appears that Olympus is being more aggressive with computational photography in its live ND & HI Res modes, and AI has made its way into the new focusing algorithm.

I should have one in my hands shortly, let me know what you want me to test in the comments!

Fuji 8-16 f2.8 (Why it's not worth $2000) vs Fuji 10-24 f4

Im not here to tell you to run out and buy the latest and greatest just because. I prefer to "measure and report". Thank you to BH photo for their continued support, links to these lenses can be found below:

TL/DW - The 8-16 f2.8 is an incredibly well built Fuji XF Pro Red Label lens, but with 20 lens elements it has some limitations in both sharpness as well as exposure. You won't see them unless you are shooting side by side with the 10-24 f4 and really pixel peeping, but at $2000 ($1000 more than the 10-24 f4), I don't think its worth it unless you are a professional making money with your photography. IMO the 8-16 2.8 should be priced around $1100.

Glass

There really hasn't been much playing in the last few weeks, but Glass was something I wanted to see since Split.

If you are a fan of Unbreakable you are already going to watch it. It is one of my top 20 favorite movies of all time, though the pacing (editing) is just a touch slow. Felt the same with Glass.

Sometimes I feel like M. Night Shalyman is really good at taking a single incredible idea and spreading it around his dinner plate to make it seem bigger than it is, the opposite of a child who didn't want to eat something would to make it appears as if there is less. The exceptions to this were 6th Sense (his homerun), Unbreakable (also Amazing), and Signs was very, very well written. It was DEEP. Loved that movie.

Im a big fan of him and always will be- he is so talented, but sometimes his arrogance gets the better part of him. This was in full force in The Village, the first time I was actually upset with his writing. I felt betrayed. Too many times it was, the Cry Wolf of movies, "Believe this....no just kidding, believe this instead...no just kidding believe this instead...." It was all downhill after that with the Happening, The Lady in the Water, etc.

Im happy to say, I didn't get that vibe with Glass. One of his best in a long time. It felt very low budget to me, but still very well done.

There's some thing so satisfying about getting a 3D print right on the first try! As many on you know, the new Nikon Z6 / Z7 as well as the EOS R have different flange distances which means if you try to use a magnifying loupe to clean them, it won't work because the distance is different! Sure you could hold it higher, but that would tie a hand up. A customer actually asked me about this, so here's my solution shipping to him tomorrow. I'll have them on the store if anyone else wants one, it should also work on the Canon EOS R. I'll have one coming for Sonys and Fuji's shortly. ☺️ #nikonz6 #z7 #eosr #sensorcleaning

To me this is the biggest news coming out of #CES so far for the camera industry. (there's also a Sharp camera MFT that does 8k) There are a few things fascinating about the Z6 Pro Res Raw update- it's the first time I know of a previously released camera has been upgraded by official firmware to allow for RAW video capture, but the fact they are doing it over HDMI is even more impressive! ProRes RAW is about 6x smaller in file size to uncompressed 12 bit 4:4:4, basically looking at about 18-20 GB per minute of 4K video. It'll be interesting to see how easily (or slowly) it edits, but ProRes is typically super computer processor friendly. I'm excited to try it out! Nikon is also bringing eye detection video focusing to the Z6 Z7 - pretty impressive for a first full frame camera iteration!#prores #atomos #atomosninja #nikonz6
