Why Pinecreek Doug’s Flying Man Can’t Get Off the Ground

In this video, I explain how Pinecreek Doug conflates psychological and epistemological questions with his Flying Man Thought Experiment. And for that reason, his critique of 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 cannot get off the ground.

Is Morality Objective or Subjective?

Last week, I was on Eric Murphy’s show to talk about moral arguments for God’s existence. We didn’t get very far but we had a lot of fun doing it, so we tried again this week. And lo and behold, in the last two minutes, we finally got around to talking about God! The rest of the time, we were hung up on debating whether objective morality exists. This too was a lot of fun. Check it out.

The Jesus Creed Meets the Flying Man Creed

Atheist YouTuber and provocateur Pinecreek Doug has produced a “Flying Man Creed” which appears to be an attempt to undermine the creed of 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 by way of reductio ad absurdum or a slippery slope. Alas, Doug’s Flying Man Creed cannot even get off the ground.

I could never worship a God who…

Has anybody ever said to you, “I could never worship a God who [fill in the blank].” Does that make sense? In this video, I take a look at that all-too-common declaration.

Is it Okay for Pastors to Have Doubts? A Footnote

Jesus said of John the Baptist, “Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist…” And yet, at one point in his life, John seriously doubted Jesus. So maybe it is okay to have doubts.

What is ‘Progressive Christianity’ and why does Alisia Childers think it’s so dangerous?

In this video, I continue my critical response to Alisia Childers’ attack on ‘progressive’ Christianity as being dangerous. I point out that her definition of progressive Christianity is fatally flawed and I identify several instances where she fails to recognize that her own beliefs represent an interpretation of the Bible and Christianity.

Can a pastor have doubts?

In this video, I offer a critical response to Alisa Childers and Cameron Bertuzzi of Capturing Christianity as they discuss Ms. Childers’ former pastor who once described himself as agnostic. The video raises an important question: “Can a pastor have doubts?” The answer, I think, is that at times pastors will likely have doubts. The real question is whether they have a congregation ready and willing to journey with them through the valley of doubt.

Ravi Zacharias on Homosexuality: A Critical Response

In this video, I consider Ravi Zacharias’ response to a question about homosexuality. In my response, I argue that Mr. Zacharias offered a non-answer to the specific question that was asked. I also argue that he framed the issue poorly and I offer an interpretation of the question that I believe is more sympathetic to the questioner and more illuminating for the audience.

God, Morality, and Knowledge: A Conversation with Eric Murphy

This evening, I appeared on the personal YouTube channel for Eric Murphy of “Talk Heathen.” Though the original intent was to talk about moral arguments for God’s existence, we spent the bulk of our time talking about epistemology generally and moderate foundationalism in particular. But hey, that’s fine with me! It was a very enjoyable conversation despite some irksome technological challenges.
