The Insecure Writer's Support Group

It’s time for another edition of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group, founded by Ninja Captain, Alex J. Cavanaugh.

Writing - that’s just not something that’s happening at the moment.

I got a good start on the fifth story for my next book, the one about the shark, last month. Plus I’m still editing the werewolf story.

But that’s mostly been put on the back burner due to submissions, edits, book releases, and new authors. I’ve had a lot of submissions through both Dancing Lemur Press and Freedo...

SEO & CDO and Under a Purple Moon

Today I am posting at The Insecure Writer’s Support Group - Why SEO & CDO are Important to a Writer.

I want to thank everyone for the words of encouragement on my IWSG post! Letting the online blogging community know that I own Dancing Lemur Press, L.L.C. and her imprint, Freedom Fox Press, was a big step. But I’ve worked very hard the past eight years building the company up and bringing on new authors. There are still things a traditional publisher can do for its authors that they can’t...

The Insecure Writer's Support Group

It’s time for another edition of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group, founded by Ninja Captain, Alex J. Cavanaugh.

I am going to take a HUGE leap of faith in this post. Thank you Randi Lee, Chrys Fey, and Elizabeth S. Craig for encouraging me.

I’ve been a business owner since 1990 when I opened Photo Impressions. I spent years doing stock photography for Cat Fancy, Homes Illustrated, etc. I moved into weddings and portraits and even shot an album cover.

I also got involved in MLM in 1995. Amw...

Germany's Fixed Book Price Law and Unprintable Fiction

Some interesting news from last week.

This first one could have a big impact on book sales and the entire industry. The German cabinet’s law on fixed book prices will be extended to include electronic books.

From Reuters:

“The law on the pricing of German language books, under which publishers must determine a price for every title they sell, traces its roots to the late 19th century.

“It is aimed at protecting small bookshops from being priced out of the market and at allowing publishers to m...

The Insecure Writer's Support Group

It’s time for another edition of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group, founded by Ninja Captain, Alex J. Cavanaugh.

I’ve been on this author journey for many years now. While many things become routine or not as fresh as they were in the beginning, it’s neat when something surprises or pleases in a new way. One of those boo-yah moments.

A couple recent boo-yah moments:

Last week, I finished editing one of the stories for my next collection. And you know what? I was just as excited about it. I...

When It Comes To Marketing, Where Should We Start?

Thanks for having me here today, Diane. Really appreciate it.

As promised I’m willing to share my marketing secrets. I’ve been sticking with smaller publishers. So when I was published, the marketing team at my fingertips was one overworked person supporting many, many authors.

If you want more then it’s up to you. Think of the marketing person as a resource full of information. They’ll share ideas and set stuff up. What stuff? Things like Facebook Virtual Parties, Cover Reveals, Blog Tours,...
