New signing date, a giveaway reminder, and some cool trivia
Couldn't think of a better title for this post, so I just went with the facts! I'm going through one of those weird periods at the moment: loads of stuff happening behind the scenes, but I don't have much to say in public just yet. So here's a very brief update…
NEW SIGNING DATE WITH WAYNE SIMMONS
I'm really pleased to announce that I'll be signing with Wayne again at Waterstones Cardiff on Saturday 21st April from 12:30pm. We had a great time there last October, and I'm looking forward to returning. Please come along if you're able.

WALKING DEAD/HATER TRIVIA
Forgive me for shamelessly using the (justly deserved) popularity of The Walking Dead to promote my own work, but did you know showrunner Glen Mazzara wrote a script for the long-gestating, Guillermo del Toro-produced HATER movie? He mentions it in this interview.
Right, back to work. I finished writing a novel this morning. Can't wait to tell you about it.

Read the beginning of AUTUMN: AFTERMATH
For those of you who've not yet had chance to pick up the book, I've added the opening chapter of AUTUMN: AFTERMATH to www.lastoftheliving.net and you can read it here. Don't forget, I have ten copies of AFTERMATH to give away – click here to remind yourself how to try and get your hands on a copy. You've got until the end of March to enter.
Plenty of disgruntled UK readers have been in touch about the long gap between the US and UK releases. It's unfortunate and hardly ideal, but it's just one of those things, I'm afraid. Scheduling issues meant that the UK edits couldn't be completed until last month, whilst the US publisher had always planned to release the book this month. And before you start, I know it's the same book, but each publisher releases their titles in their own house (and geographical) style.
You could always console yourself by watching the AUTUMN MOVIE again and venting your frustrations by yelling at the screen. It's on the UK Horror Channel at 2:20am on Wednesday 21st March.

Body Horror launch event
Last Saturday I was in Chesterfield with editors Paul Kane and Marie O'Regan and fellow contributor Simon Clark for an event to mark the launch of the extremely well received MAMMOTH BOOK OF BODY HORROR anthology (see this 10/10 review here, and there have been plenty of other positive write-ups). The event was a lot of fun with both Simon and I reading from our stories before taking part in a Q&A session with the editors. Thanks to Paul and Marie for inviting me along, and to Trisha Hill for hosting the event.

AUTUMN: AFTERMATH – SKIN
AUTUMN: AFTERMATH is out this week. To get you in the mood, here's the first of two pieces of free fiction to set the scene for the new book, both beautifully illustrated by David Naughton-Shires.
Today, let me introduce you to SKIN.
SKIN's story is important, as you'll see, because it has an impact on JACKSON (who I told you about last month). A quick advance warning – SKIN is a story of teenage angst gone wild and, as you'd expect, it features drink, drugs, sex and all the other things teenagers love.
Head over to www.lastoftheliving.net now to read SKIN or to help yourself to some of the other 120,000+ words of free zombie fiction you'll find on the site.
Check back tomorrow for a launch day update and an exclusive AFTERMATH giveaway.

Guest post at SFSignal – The Post-Post Apocalypse
I like SFSignal a heck of a lot. They said lovely things about HATER, DOG BLOOD and THEM OR US when they were released, so I was really pleased to be invited to guest post there today. You can find my piece – about the Post-Post-Apocalypse – online now. Click here to read it.
Obviously, as I pinched the term post-post-apocalypse from the recent Kirkus review, the piece ties in to the release of AUTUMN: AFTERMATH next week. I was fantastically pleased to read another excellent review of AFTERMATH, this time courtesy of STARBURST: "The last few chapters are the greatest yet, and the questions posed stay with you long after the book has been put down… British horror at its absolute best."
I cannot wait for you all to be able to read this book.

Recommended reading – JUGGERNAUT
Last December I recommended OUTPOST - Adam Baker's Arctic-set thriller. Today I present the prequel: JUGGERNAUT. I'm pleased to report that Adam's written another cracker here. It's the fast-paced, sun-scorched story of the genesis of the disease which has destroyed the world in Outpost, all set against the beautifully rendered backdrop of war-torn Iraq.

Great characters, an amazing level of detail, an insane yet wholly believable plot – Juggernaut is an excellent read, full of grotesque images and unexpected revelations.

Mammoth Book of Body Horror out today
The Mammoth Book of Body Horror – which features my new short story, Almost Forever – is out today (the US edition follows in June). If you read my earlier post, you'll know there are plenty of reasons for picking this one up… an introduction from Stuart Gordon (director of Re-Animator), the original shorts which inspired The Fly and The Thing, additional stories from Neil Gaiman, Richard Matheson and many more… Starburst Magazine certainly liked the book: click here to read their review (which begins with the headline 'It really doesn't get any better than this.')
And don't forget, on Saturday 10 March I'll be at Chesterfield Library to launch the book along with Simon Clark and the book's editors, Paul Kane and Marie O'Regan. The event begins at 2pm. Click here to request your free tickets from the library.
In the meantime, you can order Body Horror from Amazon, Waterstone's and the Book Depository.

AUTUMN: AFTERMATH – first reviews are in!
Forgive me blowing my own trumpet for a moment… I've got several more posts and stories lined up before the release of AUTUMN: AFTERMATH on 13 March, but I just wanted to share a couple of really positive industry reviews the book has received.
Kirkus Reviews said: "While the earlier books in the series were more focused on adrenaline-pumping escapes from the undead, Moody always took time for character development, and it pays off here. His world is well rendered and well thought-out, and by taking the long view, Moody gets to try something new: asking what happens after the reanimated corpses are gone, when humans must decide whether, after all they've seen and experienced, merely surviving is enough. A fine study of the human race's chances in a post-post-apocalyptic world."
And Booklist trump that by saying: "As demonstrated throughout his previous novels, readers should crown Moody king of the zombie horror novel, and his final book in the Autumn series adds a much-deserved jewel to his crown. Certainly, this is action-packed, with corpses attacking on every other page, but the novel truly succeeds when Moody slows down the action and looks at human nature in the face of utter annihilation."
As you can probably gather from the way I'm boasting, I'm thrilled with those responses! I can't wait for you to get chance to read the final part of the AUTUMN story.
You can pre-order AFTERMATH from AMAZON, Barnes and Noble, and the Book Depository. The UK and German editions of the novel will follow later in 2012.
