Daniel & the brachial plexus
I believe this question has been raised before, but I still get email about it so I thought I'd put it front and center:
I have just finished The endless Forest and I'm still puzzled by the nature of Daniel's injury. For a long time I thought maybe it was dislocated but now I think not. What is actually wrong with his arm i.e how would it be described in modern terms?
When Daniel was shot and fell out of the tree, there was severe damage to the bundle of nerves in the shoulder (the brachial p...

what the?
Is anybody familiar with the pdfqueen download site, or other sites like this? It looks like pirating to me, but I'm not going to pay them for the privilege of stealing The Endless Forest.
I've emailed my agent and editor to see if they have any insight.

TEF question and answers: spoilers
I was confused as to why Callie would be afraid of losing the orchard to Jemima, since Jemima had sold it to Mr. Stiles, and Callie had bought it back (Fire Along the Sky). It seems it should have been Callie's property, and no longer Nicholas' property to go to any heirs. It made the whole premise of the book confusing for me.
Spoiled rotten: Want the

Kindle & Ebook format ITW, DDS; etc
I've just signed the amendment to my contract with Bantam that allows them to publish ITW and DDS as electronic books. I don't know how long it will take at this stage, but we are a step closer.
Later today I'll answer a question about TEF that is too complex to explain in the TEF spoiler thread. And if all goes well, you've have more info about Simon tomorrow.

discussion questions: into the wilderness
For the third time in less than a month, somebody emailed to ask me about discussion questions for ITW. There never was an official list of such questions, unless I'm blanking on it.
Anybody care to suggest a discussion question, limited to the first book in the series? I bet you lot could come up with some good ones.

details
kiwi.lana commented that one of the reasons she likes the Wilderness series is that she loves being able to trust the details.
Which is a huge compliment, and at the same time, makes me nervous.
Because I do get things wrong. For example: hay bales were an impossibility in 1793, but I've got them in Into the Wilderness. There are more than a few things like that scattered through the books. Fewer as the series went on and I learned not to trust my instincts on a lot of things. But many times ...

somehow this got filed away
I've had a lot of questions over the years from well-meaning people who compare my work to Diana Gabaldon's. Then there is almost as much mail asking me if I resent being compared to Diana.
Comment: You are a Gabaldon wanna-be.
Answer: Well, of course. Who wouldn't want to write such beloved novels?
Comment: Do you wish sometimes people would stop saying you two write alike?
Answer: Yes. And no. That comparison would never have occurred to anybody if Diana hadn't been so supportive and generous ...

bookreviews
As I remember, y'all liked my book reviews. I've been spending a couple minutes a day for the last month or so trying to retrieve all the fiction reviews I've posted, here or anywhere else, (which were scattered to the winds, to my annoyance), and putting them all in one place. So if you are interested in old reviews or new ones (I put one up now and then) head on over to goodreads.
Sara's over at goodreads too and has an author page, but she's refusing to participate. So everything there is ...
