Look at me, the cheap tart

I’m excited to share some brilliant news with you. But the title of this post might be misleading. I’m not cheap, I’m…FREE!

Yep, you read that right. For a limited time, my menage novella, Chasing Sunset is available as a free download from most of your major outlets. Amazon and Barnes & Noble so far, but keep an eye on the Samhain and Sony stores in the near future.

If you download the book and like it, I’d love it it you’d leave a review at the outlet from which you downloaded it. We authors love reviews, and they help other readers decide if they might like the book too. Thanks!

Chasing Sunset:

After an unsettled childhood, Sidney McCall has finally found a home in Graceville. This dream town comes with a dream boyfriend. Drew Buchanan is charming, romantic, completely devoted to her—and he cooks! Now if only the whole commitment thing didn’t give her night sweats…

Drew, a professional chef, wants nothing more than to give Sidney everything she’s ever dreamed of, both in and out of bed. Even if it means serving up her most secret wish complete with a whipped-cream topping: a tryst with two men. His best friend Brody Nash is the missing ingredient, and the only man he trusts with the woman he loves.

What starts out as a little harmless sexual play quickly boils over into something none of them expected. An emotional minefield that could forever change the course of their lives.

Warning: Contains explicit sex scenes including; ménage a trois, oral sex, stripper heels, creative use of whipped-cream deserts, sex in a public place, light bondage, hanky spanky and hunky, bossy men. In short, more than enough naughty business for one little novella!!!

Excerpt

“Brody?” Sidney’s mind blanked at Drew’s answer. “What’s Brody doing here?”

She’d rarely seen Drew appear sheepish, but it was the only word she’d use to describe the expression that crossed his strongly carved features. “Ah, that’s what I was trying to talk to you about.”

Sidney watched as Drew refastened his jeans, only then remembering to smooth down her dress. She was still dizzy from the aftereffects of the fantastic sex they’d just had and figured it must be adversely impacting her hearing. “Did you invite Brody here tonight?”

“Yeah. I did. But it’s not what you think.”

She crossed her arms over her chest and scowled. If Drew thought beer and poker was in the cards tonight after she’d spent all afternoon cooking, she’d kick him right in his cute behind with her five-inch stripper heels. “You mean you didn’t arrange some kind of boys’ night on our anniversary?”

His laugh held an irony she didn’t understand. “No, definitely not a boys’ night. More of a girl’s night, actually.”

Sidney squinted at him, confused. “Huh?”

The rapping on the door boomed once again and Drew called out impatiently, “Just a sec.” He turned back toward Sidney. “I meant to explain this as soon as I got home, but you looked so damned sexy. And then you started rubbing up against me and the words just”—he waved a hand in the air—“disappeared.”

Rubbing up against him! He made her sound like a stray cat. “I swear, Andrew Buchanan, if you don’t start making some sense I’ll…”

She bit off the end of her threat as the knock came again.

“Do you guys want me to get out of here?” The sardonic lilt of that masculine voice confirmed that their visitor was indeed Drew’s best friend. Sidney uttered a frustrated sound. She whirled around and swung open the door. Surely, once Brody got a look at the way she was dressed, the fifty or so candles she’d lit and placed all around the dining area, he’d get the message loud and clear that she and Drew were busy.

Brody Nash stood in the hall, almost filling up the rectangular space formed by the open door with his wide shoulders. He carried a bowl of something that looked creamy and decadent tucked under his arm. Brody was one of the best dessert chefs in the business, a skill Sidney had always considered incongruently delicate for such a hulking bear of a man.

The gaze he raked over her held a wealth of blatant masculine interest. He didn’t bother to hide the fact he was x-ray visioning everything beneath the racy black dress she had donned for Drew’s benefit.

Sidney fought the urge to shuffle her feet. She was assailed by the possibility that Brody had heard everything that had just happened. He must have been in the hallway, right on the other side of the wall she’d just demanded Drew fuck her against. His dark brown eyes held a hint of wicked knowledge that seemed to confirm he’d been privy to all that crazy dirty talk she’d screamed because she knew it drove Drew nuts. Not to mention all the banging against the wall she’d been doing while she’d been banging her boyfriend.

Her cheeks grow hot beneath Brody’s lazy scrutiny of her body. But it was the burst of something else unexpectedly heated that made her breath still in her lungs. As the man’s gaze brushed over her cleavage, Sidney’s nipples pebbled. She still felt sensitized where Drew had so recently been inside her, and those nerve endings zinged with something that had nothing to do with embarrassment.

The thought that Brody had heard her howling at Drew to make her come actually turned her on.

I Did Some Cool Stuff

Oh it probably doesn’t look like much to anyone else, but for this girl–who in 2007 when she was first published was aking questions like ‘what’s a blog?’ and ‘How does one get one of those address thingies that have their name in them?’ (yeah, a domain name y’all)–being able to make improvements to my own website is proof positive that I’ve come a long way in terms of understanding techy related bibs and bobs (they should name a course that — techy bibs and bobs 101).

I added my upcoming books to my little books slideshow that appears on every page AND changed the way the slides change
I rearranged the order of the links I have in the left widget area
I finally understood what a widget area was
I added my goodreads shelf to said sidebar widget area–defying all warnings that it would not work on WordPress sites! Flouting rules, too, I am I am.
I added a litte graphic to my home page with the word ‘Welcome’ in fancy writing. I know, you didn’t notice. Go look now then, and please appreciate that it was much harder than you can possibly imagine.

Today it was my birthday, and my pressie was to be able to do whatever I wanted without having to attend to housework and kids. Congrats to hubby, he thought of the BEST PRESSIE EVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take note men, you want to know what women want?

Time. To. Themselves.

Mystery solved :)

June Round Up

I haven’t blogged very regularly this month, so I thought I’d do a quick round up of what I have been doing with myself.

I’ve been playing domestic goddess. Two birthday cakes in a week (one for Princess’s actual birthday and one for her party day—that’s the number 7 that looks suspiciously like the head of a brontosaurus during a flower power phase) .
I’ve been playing writer. I made a submission in mid June and fingers crossed something comes of it. During the time I’ve been waiting (not obssessively fixating mind you, but calmly waiting. Believe me?), I’ve completely plotted out a book that (hopefully) will become the follow up to Moonlight Mirage. Yes, I’ve plotted it! Plotting–me? I’m as shocked as you are.
I’ve also plotted out another book (in my head) and am having some writerly indecision about which story to persue. Me–indecisive? That I’m not so shocked about.
I have been celebrating the completion of the editing process on Moonlight Mirage, which is now up for preorder at Amazon. It’s also up on Samhain’s coming soon page along with Jess’s and Lexxie’s books. How cool is that?

The Aussie taking over the Samhain site :)

5. Have been contemplating going into a 12 step program to prevent me going on and on and on about having 2 releases in as many months (weeks in fact :) ).

6. Actually, no I haven’t :) . I’ll probably mention it again one of these days.

Here’s to a productive July!

Lucky 7

I’m pretty sure I was tagged for this game once before and because I was so busy I didn’t get around to participating. I broke the chain–shame on me! So this time I decided I should give Lucky 7s a go, if for no other reason than the talented Erin Nicholas is far too nice to say no to. So here goes:

Post seven lines from a current work by following these rules:
Go to page 7 or 77 in your current manuscript (fiction or non-fiction)
Go to line 7
Post the next 7 lines or sentences on your blog as they are (no cheating, please!)
Tag 7 other authors to do the same

So here are my 7 sentences from pg 7 of Erica’s Choice (preorder it NOW!!!!! Was that subliminal enough?).

Tonight, Erica was not in the mood to be dismissed. She would make a move on him, no matter the potential for embarrassment.

The very thought made her heart rate triple. Her palms grew slippery against the tweed fabric of her skirt. Tweed. Erica would have laughed if her lungs were capable of expelling air. She was the kind of woman who wore tweed and modest button-up blouses, who stayed home most nights rereading her favorite Jane Austen novels instead of venturing out to experience life. Was she out of her mind even to daydream a man like Corey Wachawski—local hero, calendar model, Adonis—would want to take her up on a sexual proposition?

Authors I’m tagging right now (they don’t know it yet he he) are:

Caitlyn Nicholas

Mel Teshco

Rachael Johns

Christina Ashcroft

Beverley Oakley

Kerri Williams

Cathryn Hein

Tropical Haze – It Must be Bandicoot Cove

Just a week ago the stunning covers for the new Bandicoot Cove Anthology: The Wedding were revealed on the Down Under Divas blog and the Bandicoot Cove site (see them here if you haven’t already. Aren’t they gorgeous?). Now we thought we’d tease you a little more, with a new cover…and a peak at the blurbs of the three novellas.

Yep, we have a print book coming next year, an anthology of the three stories: Afternoon RhapsodySunset Heat and Moonlight Mirage.

Read on for your introduction to the tropical haze on Bilby Island.

TROPICAL HAZE: The Blurb

Steamy days, sultry nights, sinful fantasies. Welcome to Bandicoot Cove.

 Afternoon Rhapsody by Jess Dee

As Bianca puts her pending divorce aside to enjoy her brother’s wedding, she unexpectedly falls in lust with Brody, a gorgeous man who’s also getting a divorce. However, personal revelations change what they thought they knew about their troubled pasts. And suddenly they wonder if it’s possible to move on.

Sunset Heat by Lexxie Couper

Kennedy never thought she’d be standing in front of Luke again. Naked, thanks to her butterfly phobia. He not only still lights her fire, so does his self-professed rake of a cousin.

Luke fell for Kennedy four months ago, yet he can’t stop thinking about sharing her with Addison. And Addison is shocked that he wants to know Kennedy on all levels. But can desire bring three people together? Or will it destroy any hope of happiness?

Moonlight Mirage by Sami Lee

At her friend’s wedding, Hayley is forced to face the former boss whose rejection sent her packing. Mitch makes her burn as hot as ever. Trouble is, she hasn’t come to the wedding alone.

Mitch knows he made a mistake by pushing his one-time intern away. Hayley’s “plus one”is an unexpected obstacle, but luckily Mitch has never shied away from a little competition…

Be sure to check out the other girls’ blogs if you want to read the full blurb of their contributions to the anthology — Here’s Jess and here’s Lexxie.

And here’s the full blurb for Moonlight Mirage…

____________________________________________________________________

A new lover, an old flame, sultry moonlit nights… Why let inhibitions stand in the way?

Bandicoot Cove: The Wedding, Book 3

Two years ago, Hayley Bryant left Australia on a round-the-world odyssey that changed her life, and her attitude. After that, coming face to face with the man whose rejection sent her packing shouldn’t affect her at all, right?

Except there’s one thing that hasn’t changed—her former boss Mitchell Wood makes her burn as hot as ever. The difference is, Hayley’s now a grown woman who knows how to get what she wants, and she wants Mitch. Trouble is, she hasn’t come to her friend’s wedding alone. Her very sexy friend with benefits, Ty Butler, might pose a problem.

Business was always Mitch’s first love…at least until he hired his little sister’s friend as an intern. Pushing her away was the right thing to do, but now his sister’s wedding has Hayley re-entering his life—and the empty place in his heart. Soon he’s acting less like the consummate workaholic and more like a man crazy in love. But Hayley’s “plus one” is an unexpected obstacle.

Fortunately, Mitch has never been one to shy away from a little competition…

Warning: Bilby Island’s sensual spell strikes again. Book contains hot lovin’ made in beautiful tropical surrounds, some exhibitionism, voyeurism and bondage. Best read with a Margarita in hand and the fan switched to ‘high’.

Six Sentence Sunday – Moonlight Mirage

This is a little snippet from my novella Moonlight Mirage, which I’ve been working on final line edits for this morning. This is the hero, MItch, and the heroine, Hayley, kissing for the first time after two years apart, after having watched the sunrise together over the ocean. Sigh.

“He wouldn’t have thought it possible for someone to taste like the sunrise, but Hayley did. She was beautiful and golden, and she enveloped him in glorious warmth. He let their lips meld in their own way, not trying to drive the kiss, using no technique whatsoever. The kiss turned brighter and hotter and more vivid until Mitch felt infused with the heat and life that was Hayley.

Utterly lost, Mitch wasn’t even aware of taking her down to the sand. One minute he stood with his arms wrapped tight around her, the next they were horizontal.”

Now you gotta now what happens next right? Sorry, you have to wait until September 4th! Grrr! But in the meantime watch out for the big cover reveal and other cool stuff both here and at the Bandicoot Cove website. There will be lots happening over the next couple of months.

And today you can check out other participants of six sentence sunday here.

Cheers,

Sami

Bestest Recipe EVA!!!!!

My first meat and veg soup of the season, mmmm. Want the recipe? Here goes:

Take some garlic and smash it with a meat mallet because you’ve temporarily misplaced the garlic crusher
Dice some onion, realising only then that it’s the last one you have. Make mental note to buy more.
Ignore the expiry date on the open packet of barley. Pour some with a handful of yellow split peas into a strainer and rinse.
Heat olive oil in saucepan, add garlic and onion, saute. Chop carrot and zucchini, add to pan with split peas and barley.
Add stock. Exclaim ‘Oh shit I forgot to make stock’. Sort through unlabelled cubes of stock in cupboard, sniff out the vegetable cube. Recoil from foul smelling, out of date fish stock cube. Make mental note to throw it away before placing it back in cupboard.
Add stock, lamb bones and meat. Sort through fridge in order to locate any other almost turned vegetables that need using. Discover pumpkin turning mouldy. Exclaim ‘Oh shit, I was going to make pumpkin soup with that.’ Think, what the hell, I’m in the kitchen anyway.
Leave lamb and veg masterpiece to simmer. Begin making pumpkin soup.
Make vegetable stock—congratulate self on forethought—chop pumpkin and potato and put in saucepan with stock. Bring to boil.
Suddenly recall once upon a time making a thai inspired pumpkin and roasted capsicum soup that was delish. Find the almost ready to turn capsicum, cut into slices and baste with mixture of thai spices, lemon juice and oil. Decide to roast some garlic too. Baste, place it all under the grill.
Make mental note to check in three mintues. Who needs a timer? Your brain is a timer.
Get distracted by recently downloaded 80s power ballad (music is mandatory during all cooking experiments). Dance around living room singing ‘The beat of my heart is a drum and it’s lost and it’s looking for a rhythm like you…’ while mystified children look on. Respond to eldest’s deadpan request ‘Can’t we listen to P!nk?’ with heated lecture on the importance of understanding our musical history and respecting everyone’s taste in tunes, even those Nikki Menaj fans… actually not the Nikki Menaj fans, those people ought to know better. But don’t diss the guilty pleasure your mother takes in Air Supply classics…
What’s that smell?

burned the garlic

The capsicum survived. The garlic was not so lucky.
Make mental note to start using actual notes as mental mental notes are just…mental. Your brain is, as it turns out, not as good as a timer or a post it.
Wonder if it’s too early for wine. 11:58am, so… no.
Just kidding. Too early for wine.
Leave master creations to simmer, make a salami sandwich and write a blog post.
Listen to more Air Supply and refuse to feel ashamed
Consider applying for the next season of Masterchef. How hard can it be?

Try it yourself at home. The soup’s delish.
