My Favorite Spanking Scene: “Fraternity Tales”
(Part III)The Bottom
As I’ve previously noted, the bottoms in spanking videos
tend to be the focus. This scene in “Fraternity Tales,” though, gives
both Vinnie and Rob equal attention. In fact, when Rob, the bottom, first
enters the scene, he remains essentially in profile. The focus remains on
Vinnie as he declares his intent to beat Rob’s ass.The bad thing that could have happened with this scene would
have been for Rob to have been a completely passive bottom, caving immediately
to Vinnie’s dominance, leading to a flat, boring spanking scene that relied on
the viewer being turned on by Vinnie. It almost looks like that is what is
going to happen at first. Rob, while actually perfectly fit (as we will see
when his round butt is exposed) looks like a tiny beanpole next to Vinnie. When
the reality of a spanking becomes clear, Rob’s face furrows in nervousness.It turns out that Rob is actually a great, extremely natural
bottom. I actually don’t know how much of this is “acting” or how
much is just Rob reacting normally. I have no way of knowing Rob’s level of
experience, but I’m betting it’s not a lot (I haven’t seen any other spanking
videos with him in it). Nevertheless he put out one of the best representations
of spanking bottom acting I’ve seen.To start with, Rob is never a passive recipient of Vinnie’s
punishment, despite the size difference and despite his inability to actually
get any sort of control of the situation. He squirms wonderfully throughout the
OTK spanking. Not only does this force Vinnie to keep control over the
spanking, his squirming bottom looks damn good when it’s getting spanked. Rob
is a normal looking guy who looks ten times hotter when he’s being punished.His verbal reactions work well. He whines and asks for the
punishment to stop frequently enough to sound realistic and assure us the pain
is real, but he never oversells it or sounds fake. He occasionally calls Vinnie
names, which appears to serve the purpose of goading Vinnie on to punish him
harder.Rob is great squirming around across Vinnie’s knee during
the hand spanking, but he absolutely comes alive during the paddling. Rob
absolutely refuses to accept his fate as the bullying victim, even though he is
completely unsuccessful in stopping the paddling until Vinnie decides to stop.
Rob jumps around, squirms, tries to protect himself and forces Vinnie to
repeatedly push him back down into position. Rob never completely submits. He
resists the whole time, bouncing his ass around and complaining. He does
“apologize” now and then for whatever made-up sin he’s being punished
for, but he never stops physically resisting. For fans of the bully-victim
spanking trope his constant struggle helps raise the quality level of the scene.
It emphasizes the idea that Rob is unable to stop Vinnie from doing what he
wants to do to Rob’s poor, stinging bottom.When I was a bottom, I always fantasized about a scene where
I struggled to escape my punishment and failed. Now as a top, I fantasize about
keeping a squirming bottom in place for punishment. It’s a tough fantasy to try
to live out though if you are committed to safe play (and I am). I am more
“bullying” to bottoms that I know well and whose limits I am familiar
with. But I have yet to have the opportunity to have a scene like this play out
in real life. (I did get pretty close with one guy though who loved to squirm).If Rob is an inexperienced bottom, that makes his final
insult against Vinnie—calling him an asshole at about 12 minutes in—particularly
brave. The swats have been pretty hard and Rob’s butt is pretty red. The insult
leads to a final flurry of paddle smacks that end with one very obvious welt on
his right cheek (it doesn’t screencap well, unfortunately). After the
punishment, Rob stands up and gives Vinnie an absolutely amazing “Holy
fuck, that hurt!” look. Again it doesn’t screencap so well, but I loved
it. In my fantasy, such a look would inspire Vinnie to bend him back over again
for another fifty swats or so, but in the real world, obviously that was a sign

Look at that magnificent burly hunk of late-‘80s man meat!
If my memory were better I’d be able to date when this video was originally filmed
based on that green polo shirt. (It could actually be very early ‘90s.)I have no idea if the original cut of this scene actually
gave these guys’ names, but there’s no mention of it here, and there’s about
three lines of “plot.” The spanking actually starts in less than a
minute after the 14-minute scene starts. Let’s just say I will not be devoting
posts to the “storyline” or set design. Anyway, I’m going to call the
top “Vinnie,” and the bottom “Rob.”When you see a guy like Vinnie in a spanking video and
you’re experienced in spank porn, you probably immediately think, “He was
obviously cast for his size. But can he actually dominate the scene and dish
out the punishment?”Yes, Vinnie can. His hand spanking is stellar. His paddling
isn’t quite as skilled, but that actually works out well to extend the scene. I
love hard paddling, but it necessarily shortens the length of the punishment
because of its harshness, especially in porn where bottoms may not actually be
experienced masochists.More importantly, his imposing size isn’t just for show. His
physicality is an important part of his control over the scene. He actually
hardly says anything at all. He is not the sarcastic, insulting bully like some
of the other Control-T tops. Instead his intimidating strength is used to
control the scene, and it works really, really well. I’m going to have an entire
post devoted just to the physical dynamic between Vinnie and Rob. It’s so
important to why the scene as a whole is a favorite for me. There isn’t a point
in this scene where you don’t feel as though Vinnie isn’t entirely in control
of Rob and is the one deciding how long the punishment will last. Without a
sense of Vinnie’s strength and size, the scene wouldn’t be successful playing
out like it does. I’ll explain more when I analyze both the OTK spanking and
the paddling in separate posts.And while he isn’t particularly demonstrative, there are
moments when he has Rob over his knee when we see flashes of a grin (check the
third image). He is enjoying spanking Rob, though Rob is not in a position to
see this, which makes it all just a little bit hotter. Rob doesn’t even know
that Vinnie apparently enjoys it when Rob squirms and Vinnie has to use force
to control him.Between the spanking and the paddling, Vinnie takes a moment
to strip off his shirt, and the camera lingers over his body. This is very
interesting and something that is rare in spanking videos, particularly these
days. We are invited to eroticize the sadist in this scene. As I mentioned in
Part I, typically emphasis on spanking videos is focused on the bottom and his
attractiveness. But there are parts of the video where Vinnie’s form is
permitted to dominate the frame. We are encouraged to lust after the man
administering the punishment. That’s what I mean when I say that Control-T
videos also feel like they had the fantasies of spanking bottoms in mind as
well. I don’t know if it’s intentional or not, but it’s definitely worthy of
note. We see the eroticization of tops in BDSM porn, but not often in spanking-only
movies, unless there is a reversal and the hot top ends up getting spanked,
too. That happened sometimes in Control-T scenes, but not always, and not in
this video. Vinnie is never not in charge, despite being an object of viewer lust.The final detail that puts it over the top for me for loving
Vinnie as a top is that he chews gum for the entirety of the scene. No, really.
It seems like a silly thing, but there are two subtextual consequences. One: It
emphasizes Vinnie’s casual control over the scene. He can keep Rob under his
physical control, despite Rob’s squirming, and not have to spit out his gum to
focus. Two: It lends an odd sort of workmanlike normalcy to the spanking. Like,
this is just a thing that Vinnie does every day. No big deal. Another day, another
ass to blister. That’s a pretty hot concept if you like the bully top trope.For Part III we’ll look at Rob’s role.

The consensus was surprisingly mixed on whether to shift content over from my reblog blog or not. Some people prefer the separation between ‘clean’ and ‘not clean’ images, or they like the focus this blog (sorta) keeps on hot dudes from licensed material.
I do try to keep this tumblr sorta on-topic, but honestly I’ve never done a particularly good job of it. Usually when I drift into unlicensed art or video it’s because it appeals to a specific fetish of mine (spanking), was made by a friend or creator I’m a fan of, hit me at just the right time so I posted it on a whim, or otherwise wanted to give more exposure. That last reason is the one that’s troubled me since beginning Soup Reblogs. While it’s nice to shunt the off-topic stuff onto it’s own site, if nobody sees it then what’s the point? Especially when there are so many hard-working artists who could use the page views. And if I could help get that for them, even in a small way, I’d like to.
Plus, this blog has felt a bit… sparse lately, hasn’t it?
So with that in mind I have decided to merge the two blogs back together, but with a couple provisos.
1) No unsourced content. More and more I’m becoming aware of the vast amount of art theft that goes on on the internet. It’s one of the reasons I try to distance myself from my old blogger site because I used to do it there myself–on a near-constant basis and thought nothing of it. I was very much part of the problem. But those days are over now, and I try to put a source on everything I post that I don’t make myself. If there is no source provided I’ll do my best to find one.
2) NSFW stuff will be tagged accordingly. Followers who don’t wish to see anything explicit can blacklist the term ‘NSFW’ and be untroubled.
So expect a flood of porn in the next couple days as I repost a bunch of stuff to here! Those who are already following Soup Reblogs, don’t feel like you should unfollow it in response to this or anything. I’ll still keep it around for certain things I appreciate but don’t fit the theme of this main blog.

Once upon a time the Internet didn’t exist (or more
accurately in this case—barely existed). Porn certainly existed, but you either
needed to go to porn shops or order it from magazines.For me, coming out of the closet as gay also meant
acknowledging my spanking fetish at the same time. I had a vague sense that
others shared my fetish but didn’t really know how to meet them or anything
like that as a teen in the mid-late 1980s in Central Florida. Central Florida
did have lots of porn shops though, and the first time I braved one I
discovered a very small number of spanking-themed videos in the man-on-man
section and was very, very happy.There were two main male-spanking studios active at that
point: Man’s Hand Films and Control-T studios. Man’s Hand is still around (and
I actually know the people who operate the studio now because they also help
put together the Moonburn spanking party in Los Angeles). Control-T studios,
however, is no longer around.“Fraternity Tales” is a Control-T film, though I
can’t exactly tell you when this exact scene was actually made other than
sometime in the late 1980s. The scenes from their videos have actually been
pulled apart and repackaged in various compilations. This one apparently was
released in 1999. These compilations are now available for streaming on some
porn sites. It’s not a complete collection, sadly. There are some scenes I
recall watching back in the day (and even owning) that I don’t see among what’s
available now.You can take a look at what’s available to watch at
MaleFlixxx.tv. There’s even previews for all the videos so you can get a sense
of the quality and whether the spankings float your boat. Some are kind of
lightweight. Others seem pretty real. Some of the dialogue is ridiculous.I wanted to start my look at “Fraternity Tales” by
talking about the studio first because Control T had a certain type of style
that still shows through with what’s left. Yes, it did have some typical
“Dad/Son” scenes or scenes where misbehavior is being punished. But
they also had several scenes where the discipline was of a bully tormenting his
victim. It was not about the bottom doing something wrong and getting punished,
but rather the top asserting his dominance, both verbally and physically on the
“victim.” Even sometimes when something “wrong” was
involved, it was really just a pretext for the top to have his way. The tops
enjoyed dishing out the spankings and they expressed themselves that way. Several
videos and compilations directly reference “bullying” in the title or
description.There are so many more spanking videos available out there
now than there were back then, which is very, very awesome. But that style of
spanking video is now few and far between. That dynamic is still present in a
lot of BDSM videos that sometimes include spanking and flogging, but it’s much
less common in spanking only movies.My theory on that is because back then, when it was harder
for people to actually meet, spank porn was meant to appeal to both tops and
bottoms. So, having different kinds of personalities for tops actually
mattered, too. If a spanking bottom couldn’t find a guy to punish him, he could
at least find a video and fantasize about the top tormenting him in the place
of the bottom.But now, if you’re a spanking bottom, it is so much easier
to find somebody to spank you if that’s what you want. It may not be your
perfect fantasy, but you can get your ass beat if you’re willing to commit. On
the other hand, tops are the ones who have to make their cases and connect with
the bottoms. It’s a lot more work for the top than the bottom to hook up. There
are more men who fantasize about giving spankings than receiving (there’s actual
scientific data to back this up). A top may not get to spank as frequently as
he wants to, so there’s still a market for spanking porn that targets what tops
are interested in. We end up with a lot more emphasis on the look and attitude
of the bottom. The top is much less an emphasis and is usually portrayed as an
authority figure and “right.” And when the top is wrong, it’s often a
situation where we see a reversal and the top will also get punished. There is
much less variety in tops and few market their movies based on the identity of
the top (there are always exceptions, of course). Sometimes the top is also the guy putting the movies together and putting them out there.This is not a judgment. I’m not one of those “Things
were so much better back then” kind of guys. Like I said, there’s now so
much more spank porn out there, many involving guys who are really, really into
it, so we can see more intense scenes than back in the day.But when I first started fantasizing about spankings, I was

peers. As I grew older and became a top, that fantasy remained: I just switched
sides. As such, Control T’s movies, even though they were sometimes rather

examine very, very thoroughly is a pitch-perfect example of my bully-victim
fantasies in just about every way. I actually didn’t find the video until the
compilation was released, but after I watched it I immediately knew it was the
scene I had been looking for all my life.
