Hello there, anon! First– I think it’s great that you’ve committed to writing a story. It’s a huge effort and it’s also very, very normal as the writer to think that your own work is garbage. We are all our very own worst critics. First drafts are hard, but I definitely want to encourage you to keep going. You can do it, you can finish it! Because only you can tell that story that’s in your head, and then share it with the world.

Hey! :) What was the first scene you wrote for Seven Tears at High Tide? Which character did you create first, Morgan or Kevin?

Hello!

The first scene I wrote for Seven Tears At High Tide would have to be heartbroken Kevin on the pier, making his desperate wish. It was a really striking image to me and I really liked how it fit with how it introduced the idea of selkies and the story about seven tears into the sea, and also just introducing Kevin himself. He’s the first character who I created in the novel, as I thought about who he was and why he was heartbroken in the first place– Morgan came immediately after, altho...
