“Not Your Villain” by C.B. Lee
Not Your Villain, Book Two in The Sidekick Squad series by C.B. Lee
Bells Broussard thought he had it made when his superpowers manifested early. Being a shapeshifter is awesome. He can change his hair whenever he wants, and if putting on a binder for the day is too much, he’s got it covered. But that was before he became the country’s most-wanted villain.

Want to use a fancy custom language for something, but don’t know how to make one?Use Vulgar!

Want a random conlang, straight away, with no prep or fuss? Just visit http://vulgarlang.com/index.html and click “Generate New Conlang”… and that’s it. Scroll down and through...

“i am not your sidekick!” the volume of her own voice surprises even jess, and it echoes in the hallway, but she stands by what she says, grabbing a stray bit of metal to protect herself. if it’s going to be a fight, she might as well be ready. “i’ve always been in your shadow, clauds. what makes you think i want to keep doing that? i want to be my own person, be liked for who i am, not just for copying you!”
YALLWEST 2017
This was my first ever YALLWEST, and it was one jam-packed day full of amazing authors, readers and just so much fun. It was incredible getting to be invited as a guest on a few panels and getting to talk to so many amazing people. This was also the cover reveal of Not Your Villain and we had a little cover reveal boba party with Duet Books!
It was also such a wonderful experience getting to speak as a panelist. I was on the panels Ask Me Anything: The LGBTQIAP+ Edition, moderate...
Foreshadowing and the Red Herring: Cluing Your Readers In
Anonymous asked: I am writing a story that requires a certain amount of foreshadowing. Do you have any advice on doing this well? Every time I write something it is too obvious.
Foreshadowing is a nuanced device. It is employed by writers at a near-constant rate, and many writers are unaware that they are even doing it. So, how do you purposefully inject foreshadowing into your narrative?
Firstly, a definition:
Foreshadowing (n): A device used in literature to create expectatio...
