Now Available for Pre-Order: “Bitter Springs” by Laura Stone

interludepress:

Henry Burnett was like no one Renaldo had ever met. He made Renaldo want to be on his best behavior, want to be respected and liked. With a pang, he realized that when this trail ride came to an end, he might not ever see the man again.

In 1870s Texas, Renaldo Valle Santos, the youngest son of a large and traditional family, has been sent to train with Henry “Hank” Burnett, a freed slave and talented mesteñero—or horse-catcher—so he may continue the family horse trade. Bitter S...

seelarrawrite:

Don’t fall into the danger of comparing your writing to anyone else’s.I believe that is the darkest place imaginable for a writer. You’re never going to write like your favorite writer because, just like them, you have a unique voice and you’re the only one with it.

You write beautifully and there will always be someone better than you and someone worse, but there will never be anyone who can do what you can.

Keep going and write like no one’s reading!

osgoodmichelle:

Seven Tears at High Tide was so sweet, and so earnestly heartfelt, that just thinking about it makes my heart glow. The two main characters, Kevin and Morgan, were such good people that when, at one point, when Kevin seemed poised to make a terrible and manipulative decision, I was quite literally on the edge of my seat with anxiety.

It’s refreshing to read about two boys who care so deeply–and not just about each other, but everyone in their lives. Kevin’s relationship with h...

“But don’t forget who you really are. And I’m not talking about your so-called real name. All names are made up by someone else, even the one your parents gave you. You know who you really are. When you’re alone at night, looking up at the stars, or maybe lying in your bed in total darkness, you know that nameless person inside you.”
