Blood Choice is LIVE!

I'm so excited (and a little bit sad) to announce that the sixth and final book of the Deathless Night Series is now LIVE and available at all of your favorite retailers!Description:A vampire cursed to be untouchable.Happy to be back in Seattle, Shea Bennet wants nothing more than to forget about the enigmatic warlock who saved her from a fate worse than death. But his topaz eyes haunt her, and his wicked scent makes her crave something she will never be able to have, something more than his blood — his touch. Though she feels his presence everywhere she goes, she is taken off guard when he suddenly appears as she is hunting, and Shea finds the tables have turned, and it is she who is the prey.A warlock determined to break the curse.Ever since he let her leave, Jesse Moss finds he is the one possessed — with the memory of a vampire he felt compelled to protect for reasons he can't explain. He lies awake night after night wrapped in her scent, her whiskey voice invading his dreams, and for the first time in his solitary life, he feels alone in the dark. The only light in his world is a vampire who wants nothing but to be far away from him. Concerned for her safety, he tracks her to her home and offers her a deal, if she will only agree to spend some time with him. A deal he has no intention of keeping. Her past won't let her have him.Her future insists she must.Grab your copy here: Blood Choice (Deathless Night Series #6)

NaNoWriMo- 1 Book in 1 Month

I am so not ready for this. And I only have one more day to prepare. For anyone not in the writing community, November is NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). The goal is to write 50,000 words of a rough draft in one month, basically what's considered a full-length novel. (Now I said rough, not ready to publish. Re-writes and edits will come later.) To put it in perspective, I can normally write a 70-90k novel in THREE months, and have a pretty clean manuscript at the end. Some people can write faster, some are slower, but for me, three months is what it takes. I've joined NaNo for the past two years, and I haven't made it to 50k yet. However, it's an awesome motivator to get you into the habit of writing every day, without worrying so much about typos, etc. I will have to fire my inner editor for the month, and not let her go back and nitpick over what was written the day before. My family will have to feed themselves, and the house will not get cleaned. But I'm doing it. I'm determined. Mostly, to make up for the time lost over the summer while we moved from Seattle to Austin. It's crazy, it's insane, and it bonds together a group of writers who spend much of their time alone, except for the characters in their head, of course. Plus, it's just fun to try! Those of us participating who live near each other will get together for Write-Ins at coffee shops, bookstores, and libraries. And we track our words written everyday, all for bragging rights that you "won" at NaNoWriMo. So, I say, let's do this, people! And hopefully, I'll have something at the end of the month that I can polish into a great book. :)Please send chocolate, coffee, and the occasional motivational meme.See you in December. :D

Not The Book! Just The Title...

As most of you know, I am currently in the process of writing the sixth (and final?) book of The Deathless Night Series, which I had always planned to call "Blood Magick". However...It has recently come to my attention that the amazing and talented Nora Roberts published a paranormal book with that exact title back in 2014. So, I've decided to change the title of my book from "Blood Magick" to "Blood Choice". I apologize if this causes any confusion, and I will try my best to update everything. I really strive to avoid having duplicate titles if I can help it, and...you know...it's Nora Roberts. Look for Blood Choice (Deathless Night Series #6) coming October 2017!!

So, We Have Bears...

I live in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. At least for the moment. We're moving back down south in a few weeks, and no, I'm not happy about it. Not at all. But I digress...and that's a separate blog post.   We live on a small mountain in a little town just outside of Seattle, WA. I LOVE it here. It's beautiful and green and when it rains, a gloomy mist hangs over the tree-covered mountains. It's just like in fucking Twilight, and I pronounced that I had to live here the first time I saw the area. And my favorite part: we have wildlife!   Last Sunday, my husband and I woke up at around six in the morning to find five deer right in our backyard: two doe and three fawns. We also have bunnies, and the most beautiful birds. Occasionally, I see a coyote wandering back there (and hear them at night), and every once in a while, we get the coolest visit of all - a black bear.    The bad part about the bear visits is that they only come calling to get into our trash, or our neighbor's trash, that they then eat in our yard. I leave the back light on for them. You know, so they can see. We had one come visit Thursday night, and my poor husband had to pick up the trash from the bear picnic Friday morning before he went to work.   The next night, we stayed up way too late watching The 100 on Netflix, and I had to get up for the 2017 Readers & Writers Event in Seattle. But it's a good thing we did, for lo and behold, just as we were dozing off, we heard one of our trash cans fall over.   Joe and I jumped out of bed and he ran for the flashlight while I flipped on the porch light, but the stinker must have heard us because all we saw was our compost can laying on its side (which is bear-proof), and no sign of any naughty bears.    Me: "Guess we'd better pull those trash cans into the garage."   (They're all full of food trash, because we've been cleaning out our house to get it ready to sell.)   Joe: Looks at me all like "I'm not going out there."   Me: "If we don't pull in the cans, it'll just be back and the naughty bear will have our trash strewn all over the yard."   Joe: Blank stare.   Me: Runs to the back deck and flicks on the light, makes sure our visitor hasn't wandered up onto the deck, then goes on outside. I can hear the bear tromping through the woods behind our house. "It's okay, he's out back. I can hear him. Go on, and I'll keep watch!"   Joe: Heaves a great sigh, and goes out in the dark to do his manly duty.    My husband did not get eaten by the bear, in spite of the fact that I sent him back out there a good three times to pull in cans, as I stood out back and goaded it for being so naughty. (The bear, not my husband.)   Needless to say, after the thrill of having such a large, furry animal in my trash (again, I'm talking about the bear), I was exhausted for the reader event on Saturday. I'm going to miss them, though. We don't have bears down south. We have armadillos and opossum. It's not nearly as exciting. Except when we see a snake...which I'm absolutely terrified of. Honestly, I prefer living with the bears.

To KU, Or Not To KU? That Is The Question.

Almost one year ago, I made the decision to pull all of my books off of Amazon Kindle Select, and give it a try making them available on all vendors. What this meant to you, my awesome readers, is that my books would no longer be available on KU (Kindle Unlimited), but theywouldbe available on iBooks, Nook, and Kobo—among others. The decision was not an easy one to make (I agonized over it for a good month), but my thinking at the time was that I wanted my books to be available to everyone, not just Amazon readers. So, here we are a year later, (yes, I know, I can't believe it's been that long either), and I have been re-thinking my decision to pull my books off of Kindle Select. To be completely transparent here, I just don't get a lot of sales on the other vendors. And I think that's because Amazon, and particularly Kindle Unlimited, are where the readers are for my genre. Romance readers are voracious, as I know, because I'm one of them.  They go through 2, 3, 4 books a week, sometimes more. So KU makes sense for romance readers. That being said, as of today, my books are all back on KU. I sincerely apologize to any readers I have gained on these other venues, but I have to do what's best for my business. And thisisa business for me. It's how I make my living and pay my bills. At some point I may decide to publish wide again. It all depends on the market, but for now I'm staying on KU.Thank you all, so much, for your continued support and readership!I am so grateful for all of you.Much love,L.E. Wilson

Why I Am Leaving KDP Select

After mulling it over for many months, I have recently come to the decision that I am not going to renew any of my books in KDP Select. This means that my books will no longer be available in Kindle Unlimited or the Kindle Lending Library.

I realize that many of my readers use these programs and please believe me when I say that I value your readership just as much as everyone else!  I will continue to price my Indie books fairly and competitively, and I sincerely hope that I don’t lose any of you because of this decision.

Amazon and their KDP program have always been wonderful to work with, and I am forever grateful that I was able to have my first published books on Select to take advantage of their promotional tools etc. Also, I think many new readers were more likely to try my books by being able to get them on KU or KOLL, and I was, and continue to be, very grateful for the exposure.

However, I have my reasons for doing this, and I thought it only fair to tell you all why. First and foremost, I want my books to be available to everyone, no matter what device they use to read them, not just Kindle or Kindle app users. I no longer want to put all of my eggs in one basket.
