Real Us

This is the real us, co-share this beautiful planet. In the innovative venture together, we’ll shape the future and hold on to common values together.

In a world of filters,

where the colors are so diverse.

We find our truth in-

the light of dawn,

With every fear and every tear we share,

In the moments of silence,

we discover our true self.

This is the real us,

stripped down and free,

No pretense or shadows,

just try to make true influence.

In the "VUCA" realm,

we’ll find our own path,

In the hilltop & valley deep,

we’ll discover something unique.

Through the highs and lows,

we’ll stand side by side,

In the journey together,

we’ll take every stride.

With knowledge flowing across the boundary,

we’ll break down the silo walls,

In the sense of connectivity,

we’ll deepen our thoughts.

So let the world watch us,

with the inspiration within,

In the emotional flows,

our story begins,

With value as our anchor,

we’ll right the wrong,

In the truth of our mind,

we’ll always make sound judgments.

So here’s to the moments,

the impact, the trust,

In the essence of true understanding,

we’ll amplify our influence.

This is the real us,

co-share this beautiful planet.

In the innovative venture together,

we’ll shape the future and hold on to -

common value together.

Ground Rules of Foresight

The past is important as it provides invaluable lessons for us to learn. But the future is what we should focus on and advance ourselves and human societies.

Foresight is an ongoing conversation. It is something you engage in as a matter of practice. It, therefore, is open to making corrections and changes. Foresight, also known as futurology, involves studying current trends to forecast future developments.

While it includes speculative aspects, its methodology originated in technological forecasting. Here are some ground rules and considerations:

Core Principles

-Stakeholder Engagement: Incorporate stakeholders’ participation to enhance management capabilities and recognize the intrinsic value of their interests, promoting inclusivity, democracy, and social justice.

-Stakeholder Analysis: Systematically identify and characterize the most relevant stakeholders who influence the organization's decisions and activities.

-Multistakeholder Processes: Generate multistakeholder initiatives to avoid conflict, gain legitimacy, and promote transparency, openness, and participation in public policy.

Methodological Considerations

-Model Limitations: Recognize the limitations of models and the subjective nature of projections.

-Analytic Techniques: Employ sophisticated analytic techniques from fields like mathematics, economics, environmental research, and computer science.

Practical Applications

-Decision Making: Use stakeholder values to orient scientific information and weight criteria for reaching representative decisions, especially in situations with high risks, uncertainty, and complexity.

-Risk Management: Proactively identify and manage risks by developing contingency plans.

Now, with the abundance of information, the world has become hyper-complex, uncertain, and ambiguous. Foresight is critical to navigating the organization into the uncharted waters or blurred digital territories. The past is important as it provides invaluable lessons for us to learn. But the future is what we should focus on and advance ourselves and human societies.

Organizational Planning & Focus

Concentrating resources on a limited set of objectives helps an organization focus its efforts, ensures alignment among its members, and enables the organization to adapt to changing conditions.

Organizations across the disciplines face a high level of uncertainty in reaching setting goals. Strategic planning provides a structured method for establishing an organization's direction and anticipating future challenges.

It is a disciplined process crucial for guiding an organization's purpose and activities, especially concerning the future. It is a fundamental aspect of organizational management and decision-making.

Questioning: The strategic planning process involves a series of questions that help organizational leadership examine past experiences, test assumptions, gather information about the present, and anticipate the future environment.

-Pros: Help organizations focus resources, ensure members work toward the same goals, and allow for adjustments in response to a changing environment. It also establishes realistic goals and objectives, communicating them to the organization's members.

-Cons: Require committed leadership, a supportive organizational culture, and a structure for managing implementation. The pattern of strategy is affected by both the plans of leaders and external environmental forces, meaning no single strategy is universally viable.

Prioritization: The strategic planning is about setting priorities to leverage limited resources for implementing clarified goals and objectives. By setting priorities, strategic planning implies that some decisions and actions are more critical than others, requiring difficult choices about what is most important for achieving organizational effectiveness. Typically, a strategy covers several years and needs adjustments over time. The approach to strategic planning depends on the organization’s leadership, culture, complexity, environment, and size.

Responsiveness: To effectively adapt to changing environments, leaders should consider the following approaches:

-Foster a Culture of Agility: Organizations must be agile to adjust to rapid technological changes to maintain effectiveness. This agility may require cultural changes, necessitating recognition and understanding of the basic assumptions that guide behavior within the organization.

-Support Innovation: Top management should actively support innovation and provide leadership in this area. Rewarding individuals who push for innovation is also crucial.

-Dedicate Resources to Innovation: Organizations should allocate specific resources to innovation instead of expecting it to occur naturally.

-Promote Diversity and Openness to Ideas: A diverse workforce that welcomes ideas from outside the mainstream can drive innovation.

-Streamline Communication: Ensure that bureaucratic layers are closely connected so that innovations can be easily communicated and implemented.

-Encourage Experimentation: Be willing to experiment with different ways of doing things, understanding that not all will be successful.

-Avoid Superficial Commitment: Go beyond eagerly embracing trendy solutions and commit to evaluating the usefulness of new ideas through empirical observation and testing.

-Be Mindful of Strong Cultures: While strong cultures can provide stability, they can also inhibit organizational transformation when flexibility and adaptation are needed.

Surviving the “VUCA” new normal and thriving with the long-term business advantage involves dynamic planning, adjustment, and speed. Concentrating resources on a limited set of objectives helps an organization focus its efforts, ensures alignment among its members, and enables the organization to adapt to changing conditions.

Predictive Agility

The hybrid organizations aim to create a customized management strategy that leverages the strengths of both Agile and Predictive methodologies.

The rate of change has accelerated, indicating that business leaders must learn how to break through the industrial constraints and limitations, bring greater awareness of the intricacies and the systemic value of organizational systems, processes, talent, technology, resource allocation, and economies of scale, etc, leverage information to predict future and apply agile philosophy and practices to improve business performance and maturity.

Agile: Agile management uses hypothesis testing to inform decisions about the next stage of management effort and thus enables shifting management goals in light of new information. It can be used to enlist broad public support, because such plans can be open to diverse societal values.

Predictive: Predictive modeling estimates the value of a particular target attribute using sample training data for which values of that attribute are known. For example, a manufacturer could develop a predictive model that distinguishes parts that fail under extreme heat, extreme cold, or other conditions based on their manufacturing environment. This model may then be used to determine appropriate applications for each part. Regression analysis is another technique employed in predictive modeling that can be used when the target attribute is a numeric value, and the goal is to predict that value for new data.

Agile Methodology:

-Emphasize rapid development and incorporate the client as an active and critical member of the team.

-Allow for modifications and adaptations throughout the development process.

Suited for projects with evolving requirements.

Predictive Methodology

-Involve a detailed plan created at the beginning of the project, with each stage completed in a specific order.

-Focus on predictive modeling to estimate the value of a particular target attribute using sample training data.

-Aim to classify data and predict outcomes based on known patterns and attributes

Agile vs. Predictive methodologies: Agile and Predictive methodologies are two distinct approaches to project management and software development. Agile is an iterative, flexible approach, while Predictive is a sequential, structured approach. Hybrid organizations blend elements from both Agile and Predictive methodologies to create a flexible and adaptive approach to project management. This combination allows organizations to leverage the strengths of each approach while mitigating their respective weaknesses.

Key Features of Hybrid Organizations: Hybrid organizations incorporate the flexibility and iterative nature of Agile methodologies, allowing them to adapt to changes and new information quickly. They also use the structured planning and forecasting aspects of Predictive (or Waterfall) methodologies to ensure that projects have a clear direction and timeline.

Iterative Development with Long-term Vision: Projects are broken down into smaller, manageable iterations or sprints, similar to Agile practices. This allows for regular reassessment and adaptation. At the same time, there is a long-term vision and plan in place, which helps in aligning the iterative work with broader organizational goals.

Stakeholder Engagement:

-Hybrid approaches often emphasize regular communication and collaboration with stakeholders, combining Agile's focus on customer feedback with Predictive's emphasis on meeting predefined requirements.

-Risk Management: By blending Agile's adaptability with the risk assessment and mitigation strategies of Predictive methodologies, hybrid organizations can better manage uncertainties and potential issues.

Resource Allocation: Hybrid organizations utilize Agile's dynamic resource allocation, allowing teams to shift focus as priorities change, while also maintaining Predictive's structured approach to ensure resources are used efficiently over the project's lifecycle.

Advantages of Hybrid Organizations

-Balanced Approach: By combining Agile and Predictive elements, hybrid organizations can tailor their project management approach to suit the specific needs of a project, industry, or team.

-Improved Responsiveness: The ability to pivot and adapt to changes while maintaining a clear plan helps organizations respond effectively to market or environmental shifts.

-Enhanced Collaboration: A hybrid approach fosters a culture of collaboration and communication, both internally among team members and externally with stakeholders.

Challenges of Hybrid Organizations

-Complexity in Implementation: Designing and implementing a hybrid approach can be complex, requiring careful consideration to balance the different methodologies effectively.

-Cultural Shift: Organizations may need to undergo a cultural shift to embrace the flexibility and iterative processes of Agile while maintaining the structure of Predictive approaches.

In essence, hybrid organizations aim to create a customized management strategy that leverages the strengths of both Agile and Predictive methodologies, providing a robust framework for managing a diverse and dynamic project portfolio.

Information-based Prediction

Global prediction methods and tools encompass a variety of techniques and technologies used to forecast future trends and events across different domains.

Foresight is an ongoing conversation. It is something you engage in as a matter of practice. Predictive analysis involves using statistical and machine learning techniques to make predictions about future events based on historical data.

The past informs future predictions through the analysis of historical data and trends, but this approach has limitations.  Here is a set of information-based prediction techniques:

Data Collection and Analysis

-Data Processing: Raw data is processed into a usable format, cleaned to minimize errors, and stored in databases or data warehouses.

-Analytical Techniques: Statistics organize and summarize data to understand dataset qualities. Exploratory analysis identifies relationships between data fields, often using visualizations like histograms.

-Predictive Analysis: Machine learning, regression analysis, and classification techniques identify trends and relationships among variables to make predictions about the future. This includes data mining, cluster analysis, and anomaly detection.

Forecasting Methods

-Objective Short-Range Forecasting: Uses data relating to past weather phenomena to extrapolate values of weather elements for a specific location and time period.

-Long-Range Forecasting: Based on the assumption that activity will reflect full employment, the overall rate of growth depends on the labor force and productivity increases.

Limitations and Considerations

-Assume Repetition: Value at Risk (VAR) and similar models assume the future will repeat the past, which can be detrimental by missing context and nuance.

-Ignore Structural Changes: Models may not account for changes due to regulations, fundamental shifts, or geopolitical events.

-Neglect Extreme Events: Models often fail to consider extreme events, creating a false sense of security by oversimplifying risk factors.

-Cycles and Residual Elements: Economic fluctuations consist of trends, seasonal components, and intermediate cycles, but a residual element always remains, which may be treated as random movement.

-Hindsight Bias: The tendency to overestimate one’s ability to have foreseen an outcome can distort the perception of predictability.

Global prediction methods and tools encompass a variety of techniques and technologies used to forecast future trends and events across different domains, such as economics, climate, health, and technology. The goals are to improve management effectiveness and shape a more advanced human society.

True Self

This is my true self, ready to share what I perceive. In the sense of pushing the world forward, I’ll set my goals high enough.

In the mirror’s reflection,

I see the layers peel,

Searching for the essence,

the things that’re real,

Beneath the noise and yells,

there’s a voice that calls,

In the quiet of my inner self,

I’ll break down the misjudgment.

This is my true self,

unmasked and calm,

trying to brighten the shadows,

the light that I illustrate,

In the journey of becoming,

I’ll dedicate to what I try to achieve,

With every step I take,

I’ll think it out loud.

In the face of the struggle,

I’ll find my way through,

Learning from the moments,

that guides me what’s true,

With every lesson and story,

I’m woven in the thread of being understood,

In the way to influence,

I’ll find my place.

So let the world watch,

as I rise from being misunderstood,

In the power of authenticity,

I’ll learn to trust,

With truth as my compass,

I’ll navigate the complex realm,

In the global world,

our true selves are unique.

So here I am,

with my mind open wide,

In the essence of human nature,

we cannot hide our innate character.

This is my true self,

ready to share what I perceive.

In the sense of pushing the world forward,

I’ll set my goals high enough.

Imagination Influence

At the highest level of imagination engagement, we become driven to leverage our imagination into creative or innovative fruits.

Imagination significantly influences creative thinking by integrating thought and experience. It allows individuals to create new ideas and solutions by forming mental images and concepts that can not be immediately present or real.

Imagination as a Mental Operation: Imagination is a mental operation that unifies thought and experience. In aesthetic experience, imagination is free from concepts and engages in free play. Imagine what can be accomplished by increasing knowledge and applying it to what one has imagined. So a responsible use of knowledge is not an impediment to the imagination. Knowledge should be helpful for imagination

Creative Imagination: Creative imagination allows one to see a face in a picture, defying judgment and seeing what one knows not to be there. Imagination leads to discovery. Discovery is both an event and a process. Knowledge is fundamental. But without the imagination to "believe in the possible," innovation may not happen.

Moral Imagination: Moral imagination involves creating or using ideas, images, and metaphors not derived from moral principles or immediate observation to discern moral truths or develop moral responses. It allows individuals to consider possibilities beyond given circumstances, accepted moral principles, and commonplace assumptions.

Imagination flows freely when supported by the fluidity of thoughts. Imagination leads to discovery. Discovery is both an event and a process. Knowledge can be useful in trying to understand if what's imagined can be achieved. At the highest level of imagination engagement, we become driven to leverage our imagination into creative or innovative fruits.

Influence of Leadership

Leadership is about the future, it’s about change, it’s about making a consistent influence.

In the hyperconnected and interdependent global society, people have more freedom to learn and work across boundaries. The digital business today is not just working within the industry, but also permeating cross-ecosystem which is dynamic, continuous, and interactive.

Digital transformation needs to be led by great leaders. Find those who dare to think bigger and thrive on change and innovation.

Transformative leadership: Common traits of transformative leaders include innovation, charisma, the ability to challenge the traditional order, and the capacity to inspire complete devotion from followers.

Transformative leaders are often creative, and in organizations that are successful at innovation, top management supports innovation and provides leadership in this area.

Authenticity of Leadership: Great leaders are both natural and nurtured. Authenticity is the most fundamental, but challenging attribute for leadership effectiveness.

The transformative digital leader is the natural leader and would seem to fit the notion that leadership is a consequence of ecology. Leadership is the influence that authentic leaders make their influence via interpreting vision clearly, making proactive interaction, building differentiated capability, and practicing leadership discipline via awareness and influence.

Thought Leadership: The Thought Leaders can amplify leadership influence via sharing vision and insight. Thought leadership, by definition, is transformative, even if it sometimes requires redefining the old in ways that make things new.

Simply changing the way we look at things can be thought leadership in action. Thought Leaders are explorers. Thought leadership expands the boundaries or, at least, calls for the boundaries of current thinking to be challenged, in either a macro or micro way.

Innovation Leadership: Becoming an innovation leader requires being very open to knowledge, desire for insight, pursuing wisdom, building a creative environment, making positive influences and inspiring both incremental innovation and breakthrough innovation.

It takes vision and courage to be strong innovation leaders as they face a complex reality today; they must be at the right moment, with an exploratory mind to catch great opportunities for harnessing innovation.

Leadership vs. Followship: Leadership and followship are distinct but interconnected concepts, especially within social movements and organizational change. Leadership necessitates intelligence, courage, and a strong belief in oneself and the cause. Leaders attract followers, organize them, and instill disciplined zeal.

In organizations, leaders set the mission, determine the means for achieving it, and establish a hierarchy of goals. They structure decision-making premises by managing information, recruiting and training members, and creating promotion patterns.

Leaders in social movements must continuously validate their leadership by effectively influencing their followers, using persuasion or influence techniques to create the impression of collective decisions. Leadership Propaganda becomes a  tool for maintaining morale, unity, and a sense of the movement's strength and potential. Followship involves individuals committed to a cause, reliant on leaders to formulate responsive policies.

Leadership is about the future, it’s about change, it’s about making a consistent influence. Leadership brand is less about what you look like - the stereotypical leadership, and more about what you think - the thought leadership; how you drive changes & make a transcendental paradigm shift- transformative leadership, harness innovation -innovative leadership.  Great leaders build their unique set of leadership strengths and competencies to support the “circumstantiality” between leadership and achievement.

PoVs

When you only want to see things from your own point of view, see what you want to see, or listen to what you want to hear, you often miss the point of understanding the real problem systematically.

People are complex, businesses are complex, and the world is complex. The digital organizations or societies today are not just about working within the industry, but also permeating cross-ecosystem which is dynamic, continuous, and interactive.

Using point of view (POV) effectively contributes to sound judgment by accounting for biases, promoting critical thinking, and informing decision-making.

Mitigating Cognitive Bias: Cognitive biases are systematic errors in reasoning resulting from subjective perceptions, which can lead to different interpretations of objective facts. Recognizing and accounting for one's own biases is a key component of critical thinking, helping to overcome flawed perceptions.

Encouraging Critical Thinking: Critical thinking involves scrutinizing information impartially to arrive at solutions. Understanding different points of view is essential for assessing information, breaking down problems, and forming reasoned assessments.

Informing Decision-Making: Decision-making processes range from rational to subjective, with context influencing individual decisions. Considering multiple POVs allows for a more comprehensive understanding of the situation, leading to more informed and sound judgments.

Implicit biases can significantly affect judgment: Implicit bias refers to unconscious biases that affect how individuals perceive social characteristics. These biases stem from mental shortcuts and heuristics, which are often applied automatically and subconsciously.

-Influence on Decisions: Implicit bias has been shown to affect decisions in areas like education, healthcare or finance, etc.

-Microaggressions: Implicit biases can manifest as microaggressions, subtle slights that communicate negative attitudes towards underrepresented groups. The cumulative effect of these microaggressions can be psychologically hurtful.

-Reinforcing Stereotypes: Unconscious biases can lead to overestimating the homogeneity of groups, causing misperceptions of individuals. Implicit biases contribute to unequal treatment in various spheres, including the justice system.

When you only want to see things from your own point of view, see what you want to see, or listen to what you want to hear, you often miss the point of understanding the real problem systematically. To gain an in-depth understanding of interdependence, it is important to apply System Thinking to view the complex problems as an interconnected and interdependent whole, and make sound judgments in a structural way under complex, uncertain, and ambiguous circumstances.

Unfold

So clear, so unwavering, I’ll let my insight steer forward. In the vision to bridge the gaps, let's embrace the world of difference.

In the silence of the surroundings,

when the world feels silent,

I can listen to the whisper,

chatting at the moment.

With every step I take,

I can feel the way unfold,

In the echo of a hidden voice,

The truth is clear and bold.

When the doubts start creeping,

and the shadows loom,

I’ll build up the strength,

that’s always in bloom.

With a spirit full of courage,

and a mind set on running fast ,

I’ll rise above the noise,

reaching for great influence.

So clear,

like the morning light breaking through-

the darkness,

With a vision so bright,

I know we have to brighten up shadows.

In the clarity of purpose,

I’ll identify real issues,

So clear, so focused,

purpose's more than it seems.

Every lesson I’ve learned,

every tear that’s been shed,

Has led me to this moment,

where I’m no longer misled.

With the wisdom of the past,

and the hope of today,

I’ll overcome challenges,

I'll influence a better world.

So here’s to the journey,

to the path that I pave,

In the light of my truth,

I’ll be courageous and insightful.

So clear, so unwavering,

I’ll let my insight steer forward,

In the vision to bridge the gaps,

let's embrace the world of difference.
