Soccer blues
I know, I should be at my laptop writing a new chapter of "The Cabinet Spell." But I can't concentrate at all this morning. I am not a soccer fan in general, but I definitely become one whenever Italy takes center stage. It's an interesting phenomenon, because I have no "nationality" feelings for Italy even though I was born there and spent more than half my years in Genoa. At this point in my life I consider myself an American under every respect. But when Italy does well in some major soccer championship, something inside me explodes, and I become their biggest fan. I watched Italy-Germany with my heart racing, and I was on my feet screaming "Stop the clock!" when the time went past what it should have. So, right now I am anxiously waiting for the whistle to blow and mark the start of the UEFA final. Italy-Spain will be a treat. The hell with writing novels. all I can do right now is scream FORZA ITALIA!
