Sanctuary in Steel to Be Released in November
Here is the synopsis for Bryan Cassiday's Sanctuary of Steel, the third entry in the Chad Halverson zombie book series:
Black ops agent Chad Halverson of the CIA's National Clandestine Service escapes plague-ravaged Santa Monica with dress designer Victoria Brady and sets sail northward up the desolate, smoldering California coast. Not only is the plague infecting the population with a kill ratio of a hundred percent, it's reanimating its victims as flesh-eating zombies.
Along the way, Halverson and Brady rescue the idealistic Dr. Parnell, the UCSB coed Brittany Pine who is in a state of shock induced by the loss of her boyfriend to the walking dead, and the cynical reporter Blake Reno.
In a desperate bid for safety, Halverson and his band of refugees seek sanctuary on the island of Alcatraz, site of the infamous, escape-proof former federal penitentiary.
Safe from the walking dead in a prison of all places, Halverson discovers that all is not as it seems on the island haven at the Rock. In fact, he may have more to fear from Alcatraz's reigning "Chosen One," the charismatic proponent of law and order Jefferson Bascomb, than from the surrounding hordes of walking dead that are overrunning the mainland.
On the one hand, Bascomb is a self-righteous man who grants the "infected," as he calls the walking dead, the right to a fair trial after they break the law. On the other, he is a man who brooks no disobedience.
On Alcatraz is anyone truly safe? Or is there a web of duplicity that ensnares everyone in its strands?

Kindle Scout--Day 7--Dying to Breathe
My campaign on Kindle Scout to land a publishing contract for my new mystery thriller Dying to Breathe is proceeding apace. The campaign lasts 30 days, so there is still plenty of time to nominate Dying to Breathe. If my thriller is offered an e-book publishing contract at the end of the campaign, everyone who voted for it will get a free e-book. It's a win-win deal for everybody involved. I, the author, get a contract, and you, the reader, get a free e-book. This is your chance to be heard in the publishing world. Your vote could be the one that sways the Kindle Scout jurors to offer my book a contract.
Did the S&M just go too far or was it murder?
Find out in the unputdownable thriller Dying to Breathe.

Kindle Scout--Day 8--Dying to Breathe
There's no way of knowing how many people have nominated my thriller Dying to Breathe on Kindle Scout. On my campaign page I can see how many people actually visited my page and the origins of their visits. The page also shows other books that are being nominated by the people that have nominated my book. There are a couple of books listed there, so I know that at least one person, other than my humble self, nominated Dying to Breathe.
I don't know the percentage of books that Kindle Scout selects to publish out of all of the books they approve for a campaign. I suspect it is small and that Kindle Scout receives many submissions. In other words, the odds against my book being selected for a publishing contract are long. But, if you think you'll like my book, you can nominate it and reduce those odds in my favor.
There's no guarantee that a Hot and Trending book, one that has garnered many nominations, will land a contract. But it can't hurt. In the end, Kindle Scout editors decide which books they offer a contract to.
Dying to Breathe should appeal to fans of James Patterson's Private series and Lee Child's Jack Reacher series.

Dying to Breathe in a Kindle Scout Campaign for 6 more days
A private eye duels with a sadistic psychopath who uses psychological horror to terrorize his victims in my newest white-knuckle thriller "Dying to Breathe." The thriller can be sampled in its Kindle Scout campaign for only 6 more days. That's when the campaign must end.
During the campaign you can read seven sample chapters for free and decide if you want to nominate it for a contract with Kindle Press.
Kindle Scout is a cross between traditional publishing (in that they offer you an advance) and self-publishing (in that you have to provide your own cover image). The advance is $1,500, and Kindle Press will promote the book if they agree to offer the author a publishing contract.
If you nominate my book and it wins a contract, you get a free e-book edition of "Dying to Breathe," and you can be one of the first to post a review. What have you got to lose? It's all free. Take a peek at "Dying to Breathe" at https://kindlescout.amazon.com/p/1VB6....

New Stuff
I'm working on a new Ethan Carr thriller. I'm about 30,000 words in. I don't want to say any more about it at this early stage. Meanwhile, "Dying to Breathe," another Ethan Carr thriller will be released later this year. I'm not sure of the exact date yet.
