Who Are You? Photography Project 52 Week 1
Tweet I have always wanted to attempt one of the year-long photography projects that I’ve seen on Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram for the past couple of years, but never got started at the beginning of the year. 2016, YOU will be the year that I attempt AND complete a comprehensive photography project! After evaluating my jam-packed schedule and factoring in my vegetable soup brain, I decided that a once-a-week photography project would work best for me. Project 52 is the perfect answer for me. It’s often enough that I won’t forget to do it, frequent enough to keep me excited about it, but not such a big undertaking that I will forget it and be mad at myself for messing it up.There will be times I use my iPhone’s camera and times I use my Nikon DSLR. Each week has a theme for the picture to-be-taken without any further explanation other than the title, so it’s left open to interpretation by the photographer. This week’s them is “Who Are You?”. Here we go… my submission for Project 52, Week 1. So, who am I? I often ask myself the same question! On a superficial level, I’m a woman, wife, mother…

Planning the Perfect Garden; Raised Beds
Well, a dream we’ve talked about for years has finally come true: we can finally plan and attempt the vegetable garden we’ve always wanted. After buying our home on a ton of acreage last May, we’ve been excitedly talking about what we want to plant, where we will plant it, and how we want to conquer all of it. We’ve talked to a ton of family members and friends who have raised successful gardens (and not-so-successful gardens) and made mental notes of the wisdom they shared with us. Unfortunately, I did not write down all of the amazing tips they gave us, and now it’s all jumbled into the vegetable soup that is my brain. So, in an attempt to spark my memory of things I was told, I’ve been searching and researching through the amazing world of Pinterest to find out what I need to know to get started. Nearly everyone I’ve talked to has suggested that I build raised beds for planting for a multitude of reasons, and since I lack a lot of the equipment (at this point, anyways) for getting the ground ready for sowing directly into the ground, I’m going to go that route. Apparently…

Traditional Southern New Years Day Meal
One of the best parts about being Southern is the FOOD! We have a seemingly endless supply of amazing recipes and cooks to spare, so naturally on holidays food takes the center stage. For most of my life I’ve been eating the Traditional Southern New Year’s Day Meal and been told that the various dishes bring good luck for the New Year, but I never really knew the origin of the beliefs attached to them. Until now. The Southern Weekend has published my article on The Traditional Southern New Years Day Meal, so go check it out to learn why in the world we insist on eating pork, greens, and black eyed peas every January 1st. And for Heaven’s sake, don’t wash your clothes on New Years Day, or you’ll wash the luck right out of your year. I know it’s true because my grandmother told me so.

Gluten Free Chex Mix Recipe
Yep, you read that right… I have created my own recipe for Gluten Free Chex Mix, and the world is definitely a better place. For years, I anxiously awaited the time around Christmas when my mom would start making Chex Mix to give as gifts to friends, neighbors, and party hostesses, hoping that she’d save me some of my all-time favorite snack. I loved everything about it, from the buttery, baked-in goodness to the spicy splash of Worcestershire sauce, but when the gluten-free lifestyle chose me, I had to start turning down my beloved Chex Mix when it was offered.…

The Outfit CAN Make the Occasion – A StyleCrush Review
StyleCrush offered me a $100 store credit to review their website and give y’all my honest opinion! All thoughts and opinions are my own, and I wouldn’t steer you wrong! Ever had an exciting event or job interview just pop up out of nowhere, only to look in your closet and find nothing that suits the occasions? Lord know I have, and it always leaves me scrambling for the right thing to wear. I’m not someone that needs a lot of stuff, or a clothing-obsessed, fashion hound (although there’s nothing wrong with that… to each her own!) but I am…

Singing in the Shower… Love this Child. “Angel of the Morning”
She will likely hate me for this one day, but it’s adorable and I recorded it. She sings passionately no matter where she might be, and this recording of her singing “Angel of the Morning” is no different. Before she started singing this one (she knows the Juice Newton version) she was belting out Mac Davis’ “Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me”. She will likely kill me one day for this, but I love it so much…. SO MUCH. When this kid sings she belts it out… Especially classic #country and in the shower. #herdmanagement #AngelOfTheMorning #merileerush A video posted…
