[TOPIC] "Women Won't Read Books with Male Narrators"

Four bestsellers narrated by men.  There is discussion right now* on the Historical Novel Society's Yahoogroup whether women, who are said to be the greater number of readers of historical fiction, will read novels where the first person narrator is male. To be more exact, the question is whether these readers will buy these books.

The most unfrortunate thing about this and Byrne Fone's other books is that because he is known as a GLBT author may people who would gain so much pleasure and benefit from them will choose not to read them, either through a mistaken sense that 'it's not meant for me" or "I don't want to read about those people."  A wonderful book transcends cultural and other differences.  Literature is not gay or straight or Christian or jewish or...
