The River Channel

A "Higher Power" need not be a daddy or mommy figure.  It need not be anthropomorphic, standing outside oneself and guiding or responding to prayer.

I cannot manage the concept of a Kindly Old Gentleman in the Sky smiling on me and nudging me on apath of His design.  But I most certainly can see myself on a river.  I can choose to go with the natural flow of the river or try to resist its direction.  I can get to know where the river channel  is and gui...

Oh, I?

It's bad enough that the various 12 Steps Programs insist on pushing this Higher Power bit.  OK, OK, I know the point is to realize you can't control things and people by your will alone.  And that they say "or by whatever name you know Him as".

Featured at DOD FED GLOBEPosted by Christopher T. Moss on October 21, 2012 at 1:45pmView Blog
By Christopher T. Moss

Mary Ann Talbot was born an orphan in London on February 2, 1778. Her mother died at Talbot’s birth and the child was raised by a series of what we would now call foster homes and in boarding schools. She claimed to be the illegitimate daughter of William Talbot, 1st Baron of Hensol. One of her guardians, a man to whom she referred as “Mr. Sucker”, managed to siphon away an inhe...

From History to Herstory to OUR STORY: LGBTQ Historical Fiction

BELOVED PILGRIM by Nan Hawthorne Think being lesbian, gay or transgender is a modern phenomenon?  Think again.  We've always been here, and it wasn't always living without love or losing our lives for it.  You can't deny love, and there were always men and women who managed to find a way. Unfortunately hardly anyone kept record of our lives, so you will mostly only find the erasure of our lives in your search through history.  That's where historical fiction come...

Sharpe's Plot

The scene opens as Wellington, sitting in his tent at his desk, discusses an important message with his intelligence expert, Snidely Malevolent. "Your Grace," Malevolent says in a knowing way, "we must find a man who is expendable but has a chance at succeeding at this suicide mission."

Wellington raises one eyebrow. "Sharpe."

Later Wellington stares at the rakishly handsome Sergeant then Lieutenant, then Sergeant, then Lieutenant then Major then Lieutenant.. Richard Sharpe. He introduces him t...
