A journey of light is calling me
I can see your golden light glowing
Soft, pure, beautiful, calm, serene
Slowly I can see the light unveiling.
As if some golden goddess
Who was sleeping is waking up,
Her divine beauty built of light
Is slowly coming into being.
As if a golden lotus of light
Blooming petal by petal
Right in front of my eyes
And my world is lighting up.
Never knew there was so much light
In this everyday life and world
Till you touched my eyes and heart
With your loving fingers of light.

POEM 2
————–
When every light leaves earth,
you shine alone with love,
Sun goes to bed, tired and weary
you shine in the sky in silver glory.
The beautiful messenger of God
to let us know every second
one of Her angel is always there,
to guide us home from wherever we are.

The sun was blazing, sweat was trickling down his body in small rivulets, sudden gusts of winds even though hot were soothing his body. He took a few steps back and looked at the rock… perfect!
He cocked his head from side to side before deciding that it is placed exactly where, how he wanted to place it. He turned back and went down the hill to work.
Next morning he heard his supervisor exclaim and expertly hid his chuckle.
“What in the God’s name is that? Who did that?” he was staring at the rock he has placed on the top of the hill, using his magic glue.
Centuries passed by, railroads now ran beside that hill, a little girl was sitting on one, with her nose pressed to the window.
“Look mama! Look at that rock!” she tugged her mother’s sleeve reading a novel.
“It must be Hercules!” she said.
“Maybe Hanuman or Bhima?” her father chuckled from the seat across. “After all, they are the locals right?”

Your life is your own canvas,
your very own piece of paper.
Fate may hand out primary colours
but you can always select others.
It’s you who finally paints it.
If you don’t let the brush
slip away from your hands.
You can give it a lovely form!
If the starting is not right
don’t fret over some lousy lines.
Give them a shape, or cover
those dark lines with happy colours.
If life hands you shades of gray
borrow some colours from your heart
and make the picture perfect.
Every life has its grays, no picture is spared.

SPIRITS OF DARKNESS AND LIGHT by Sharmishtha Basu
Thank You Kevin! God bless you with the same generosity (with interest) with which you are showering us! Love you!

I interviewed the wonderful Sharmishtha, last December. I can’t believe it’s been that long ago to be honest. Feels like just a few weeks. This could be due to the fact that her interview was so popular, she won the Author of the Month Spotlight and had her book highlighted on my blog for a whole month in February this year! :D :D :D Here’s: Sharmishtha’s Interview
Spirits of darkness and light
sharmishtha basu
synopsis
Spirits of darkness and light is a wonderful collaboration of fantasy short stories with characters both brooding and dark while others are mysterious and beautiful.
review
Sharmishtha’s stories are captivating. Her characters although purely original bring some of India’s mythological creatures to light with a style of writing that can only be attributed to that of a true mistress of story-telling. Nothing is what it seems as each incredible tale keeps you wondering what is…

POEM 6

Every relationship is a perfect dance
two souls, minds, hearts dancing in harmony.
Sometimes they move close then dance away,
yet every step is graceful, loving symphony.
Every dancer moves away again and again
every relation takes steps away, far away
from each other’s thoughts, hopes, plans
Yet they again move close with love.

POEM 6
————–
Strange is the bonding of love
every time you are blessed
with this feeling from heaven above
your heart gets a little more expanded.
You realize how vain follies are
how love overcomes imperfections;
How we love a deity made of clay
knowing it holds God inside itself.
We ignore the clay,
we ignore its imperfection;
we could see through them
and see the divine within
Whenever we truly love someone
it’s our very soul that’s blessed;
We rise one step higher
every time we rise above imperfection.

You called me up to share your joy
The naïve creation of an amateur
I saw only faults in that painting
Which took hours to complete.
I came back feeling like a victor
Now when I look back I am ashamed,
Your white face, quivering lips haunt me,
If only I could hold your hands, repent!
