POEM 8

A mother hidden in teacher

saw the insecurities hidden

in the gawky, shy teenager

her heart filled up with love.

Softly she took her under her wings

gently cherished, nourished the seed

gave her a form, a life, a reason

away she went on life’s path enriched.

She opened the door, almost stepped on it. A single carnation, red!

She picked it up and inhaled its fragrance, she has always loved carnations, their colours are so pretty, the fantastic fragrance is bonus!

She looked around, there was no one in sight, morning was slowly making its presence known. A milkman passed by ringing his bicycle bell at the morning air.

She went back inside, placed the flower in a vase and came back to start her morning walk before the town woke up fully and boisterously.

He looked at her she did not noticed him, why will she, to her that gesture was nothing, to him divine kindness, he still remembers that morning vividly, as if it was just yesterday.

He could not make it back to his village home the previous night, his body was burning with fever, he was lying on this very bench shivering when someone covered his body with a warm shawl. It was her, she simply resumed her walk after covering him.

“There was a time when I really wanted to have a family with you, loving your kids as my own was not a problem for me, never was and never will be.” Roshni said, “But being the suitable boy you were busy looking for perfect bride. I can’t blame you for that!”

“We all have our dreams, desires when it comes to marrying, loving, after all, I won’t marry someone who has been selected by someone else for me, I will marry him only if I think I will be able to love him.” She said.

“You took so long to decide what you want, now I am too old to have a child of my own, and with that age gone I have lost interest in kids, they feel like burden now. Maybe, maternal instinct dies with the power to give birth to own kids!”

“You can still go out and look for a bride, after all you are rich and its India!” She smiled and patted his arm.

She turned back, he was still following her. His skeletal body, hungry eyes bore straight into her heart. But her hands were already full…

She walked on hoping he will walk away, find someone else to stalk but when she turned before entering her home he was standing, a little distance away as if he knew that she was about to desert him, leave him out in the street to fend himself. His huge brown eyes looked at her, full of plea.

“You win!” she muttered, “You wicked mutt!”

“Chitra we have another member for the home, he is standing outside, on the pavement, take him in if he is still there!” she called out before entering.

When she entered the kennels half an hour later, he was standing in the courtyard, clean and fed, wagging his little tail with joy.

“Who says dogs are dumb animals!” she looked at him with smiling eyes, “You picked me up from the crowd of the entire marketplace!”

He wagged his tail harder.

First look, result rejection

reason too soft nature,

too gentle manners,

too mild voice and tone.

Second look appreciation

third look adoration

and fourth look admiration

First is the child, second youth,

Third is matured, fourth white hair.

Same being, unchanged only the beholders

change as maturity comes to them.

Thursday Rhymes 4.6.15

You and your lies

I should have smelled the eternal

fragrance of money reeking from them.

Your lies were quite visible

but the motive was quite well-hidden,

your obsession of getting inside my head

to pry out every little details

then training your little monkeys on hire

to repeat the things

to make the things I naturally do

look phony too, look ridiculous.

I kept thinking about insanity, revenge

now I wonder why did I not smelled

the greed that so reeks from your very words.

If Kolkata summers were oven, its furnace in Hyderabad :) boy! Hope the sun will mellow down a bit real soon! living in top floor can be a real torment in summer! Apparently by next year we will have to arrange air-conditioner ;)

My body is totally rhymed to moist summer so it is giving me quite a hard time adjusting to the switch from oven to furnace… all our hopes are lying on monsoon showing up real soon with raining clouds.

have a great day and time ahead.

lots of love.

She settled down on the chair, he could see she was in the mood! She started talking after a brief pause, enough to gather her arguments together.

“He is too good for her!” she said. “She is downright ugly.”

“Our son can’t see, in case you have forgotten, physical charm will hardly matter to him!” he said with a little sarcasm. Their son was in love with a colleague, mustered up the courage to bring her home, his wife was downright cold.

Of course the girl was not perfect, she was not good looking, maybe not pretty as his wife but certainly not good looking, but she was gentle, kind and most of all, she was in love with their son.

“He will get better than her!” she said defiantly.

“He is already thirty eight… clock is ticking!” he muttered before getting up for a walk, there was no chance of watching the game, not tonight.

He wondered he had two eyes with perfect eyesight, why did he choose her?

Never try a futile thing

something like a childish yearning

trying to hold water in fist

thinking it will stop it.

Water that’s running

will slip through fingers

nothing will stop it

as long as its water.

Don’t try to stop a happy soul

by using childish tactics

thinking that will stop him

from being happy always.

Happy souls are just like it

you may make them sad

for just a little while

then they will overcome it.

170×170 day 2 2.5.15

When they met she was lonely after break-up with her almost fiancé, she blamed over possessive future mom in law. He was married and bored, she was good friend, who acted more like lover than friend, a very possessive lover to be precise, soon rumors started and his wife divorced him, walked away from him with their kids.

She became his solace, but he loved a cyber-friend. He begged her for help, she asked him to introduce her.

Ah! Internet is such a good weapon in hands of the shrewd. She picked up an ugly fight with his actual girlfriend using his phone, email id, which he had left with her when he went overseas for a few months!

So ugly that the girl erased him from life, in came her brother’s fiancé, duh! She has changed her number, email when he was overseas, next came her marriage invitation.

He married the serpent, years later the truth came out but it was too late, she has already poisoned his world!
