Shoptly Posts 10

I know many of you are already thinking that most of my posts in my blogs are my old works, years old quite often. Where are my new works? Have I stopped writing new ones?

Well I am still writing and painting as enthusiastically as before. But these days they are channeled into four other platforms- my annual republished kindle books (https://amazon.com/author/sharmishthabasu) -they devour quite a huge no. of stories and poems every year. Quite a lot!

my bookstore in shoptly (https://shoptly.com/sharmishthabasu) Another section goes to my shoptly bookstore, here I not only publish my monthly Ezines Agnijaat and Agnishatdal I also publish a set of books of poetry and story. They are quite merrily illustrated and are available as pdf files. Yes you can read them perfectly in your cellular phone and of course in computer.

My twin Ezines Agnijaat and Agnishatdal (both English, monthlies) don’t feature much stories or poems but publish all my new essays and articles and again, truckload of illustrations.

and my patreon profile (https://patreon.com/sharmishthabasu) This one again contains bunch of stories, poems and they almost always are illustrated. If not then the stories are very long and of the type that can’t be illustrated.

I have been so stuck up with my creations that I have ignored my blogs and other social media profiles since 2015 I believe. So, if you enjoyed my works quite amply then I think it is high time that I bring you up to date, to share what I am creating these days and how can you get them!

It will be a lengthy affair, so have patience. I will be updating you about my four years of hyperactive creativity!

I have started with Patreon’s works since April 2019. It is sort of my launch-pad to make my creativity actually become my career. So since creating my profile there I have been updating 5 works each month, two are the Ezines, the remaining three are writing and paintings. Works my blogger friends thoroughly enjoyed. Stories and poems with ample amount of illustrations!

Anyone who becomes my patron there can chose from few tiers-

You can check them from my profile- https://patreon.com/sharmishthabasu

The next set of works will be from my store in shoptly.com. I have created this store because it gives me lot more freedom than other platforms do. I can pick up the formatting and decide how many pictures I will add and in what size. Nothing meddles with them. So I sort of love this platform. You will see dozens of books here, you can directly buy them from shoptly or buy them from me via paypal- https://paypal.me/sharmishthabasu [don’t forget to drop me a line @ sermistabasu@gmail.com after paying in paypal so I can send you the pdf file {all these books cost $1.00

I will go serially, book-wise, today’s piece is from Agnimalya 3: the lost stranger

Agnimalya Book 3 the lost stranger

New kid in Netherland

Things changed in one instance. He was in the seventh sky, in one week he was about to get married to the girl he has loved since college days.

Next minute that truck came hurtling down on him, his body was transformed into pain itself.

Then a strange lightness invaded him and he sank deep in darkness, when he came back to he was feeling great, he got up, the road was deserted, why was not any ambulance around, he looked at his body, there was no blood or wound.

Was he dreaming… was that accident a dream? It seemed so vivid…

“Hey!” a voice startled him. He turned and faced an elderly man.

“New in the block?” he asked.

“No, I was born here, and have spent almost every day of my thirty year life here…” he answered.

“I meant this block… “block of dead”… go to that building and sign up your name in case you want to stay in this block! They will show you your house, the house you can haunt!” the man said with a wicked smile before walking away.

Good business

“I will refund you half its price if you can buy another property like this in its price or lower price.” The agent looked sullenly.

Rajesh looked at the castle on the top of the small hill. It was mouth-watering for sure. He nagged and nagged but the Agent kept saying that there was no catch! The family lived outside India and had no intentions of returning here so they wanted to sell it someone who won’t tear it down!

Rajesh had no such plans! He wanted to make that majestic place his home! He craved for old buildings but they were either not for sale or prices were too much! After all you have to spend a huge amount of money to restore these crumbling buildings, a part the owners pretend to forget!

Well he did make that castle his home- for longer much longer than he desired to make it! Its actual owner paid him a visit on the very first night. A week later he realized he was about to stay there! For a very, very long time!

The actual owner has been living there since 11th century. Initially he preyed upon the villagers that lived around the castle, then with time people moved away, and getting food became really tough, then he met this young fellow, desperate to make money!

They made a pact- he will bring buyers and the (vampire) king will allow him to keep the money! He had no interest in money!

He mostly did away with the buyers, but spared Rajesh, why? He looked just like him! As if he was his lost twin! Only a millennium junior!

Next night Rajesh went to meet the agent, waited for him to walk out of his door to walk his dog and caught him. Now they all live in that castle! The vampire was a little angry but he knew sooner or later another young man will show up, eager to make money!

Thursday Rhymes 30.5.19

THURSDAY RHYMES 30.5.19

True courage

unselfish and strong

is a hara-kiri

in this selfish world.

Sooner or later

the same people

you fought for

will unite to crucify you.

If that death makes you

popular, may be admired

then they will call you

a martyr!

Gratitude for your selfless deeds?

Ah! The world will call you a fool

behind your back even if they

gain from your “foolishness”!

Forget you the minute

their purpose is served!

Do only that for this selfish lot

which won’t bite you or kill you!

Like they say, throw away only

those things that won’t cost you!

A bouquet of wildflowers

This book is mostly about human nature, its complexity. Both its darkness and light has been shared in this book. Beware many poems are pretty direct, harsh straight from real world! But there are a few lighter ones too don’t worry.

As you may know it started with my storybooks in 2017, I kept the titles of the books but changed their contents fully, excluding the title stories. I told that I will include the poetry books from next year, here they are from 2018 onwards the contents of the poetry books will change too, most probably every year. In case of poetry books there are no title poems so majority of the contents or all contents will change. Hope you will enjoy them! I really don’t have any intentions of adding more titles in Amazon, I have stuffed up too many already, but I am stuffed with works so I will just change the contents every year, of as many books as I can handle! The createspace books, the paperbacks will be deleted this year-2019, so from this year onwards only poems, illustrated books will be in shoptly only barring few illustration based books in Kindle.

The protest

“Don’t you dare hurt her!” Sima screamed, oblivious of what he might do to her. He glared at her. His eyes were burning like ember in darkness of her prison cell. Then he crumbled into pieces, as if someone has struck an invisible hammer to a mirror and the reflections it was holding were shattered. Then he vanished.

Sima turned to face her, a young girl barely seventeen or eighteen years old, wearing a white frock with pink prints.

“Thanks!” she whispered before slowly melting away into the air.

“Who were you shouting at cuckoo?” a taunting voice startled Sima. She turned and looked at the guard peeping inside the cell, looking all around.

“Your ghost cellmates?”

Sima ignored her and sat down on her bed, exhausted.

The guard walked away rattling her stick on the cell doors.

Sima was not expecting this when she was transferred to this jail. She was not a saint, she worked with a gang that drugged and looted passengers, and often the passengers were harmed by overdose, some ended up in psychiatric care some in morgue.

She was the sweet, innocent thirty five years old woman who looked barely twenty two. So when she offered someone a sweet or a cup of tea from her own flask … well, they were seldom refused.

They were caught and prosecuted.

She got life sentence, two life sentences to be served simultaneously without parole. That meant she will spend the rest of her life in this jail or some other jail!

It started on the very first night.

She woke up in the middle of night. Someone was talking in her cell, a girl.

“You monster! You evil monster you thought that if you will kill my family and my fiancé I will fall in love with you? I will take that monstrosity as a sign of love?”

She opened her eyes and saw them. Her fear paralyzed body prevented her from screaming. She laid there staring.

They were ghosts! There was no doubt about that! There was enough light in the cell, they did not turn all lights off even in night, in this section where lifers and death row inmates were lodged.

She could see through them, from the very first night.

The girl was standing defiantly, facing the young man with a shotgun in his hand. His clothes were soaked in blood.

He grabbed her hair. “I don’t care what you think! You are going to marry me!” He growled, “The priest is waiting in the temple.”

A scuffle started, the gun changed hands and the girl shot herself.

Then they both vanished.

She screamed with all her might. The guards came running.

“What happened?” The guard growled from outside the door, without opening it.

“G…G… Ghost!” Sima stuttered.

“Where?” came the taunting reply.

“It’s gone now!” Sima whimpered.

“Call me when they are back!” the guard stomped away.

Her request to change her cell was bluntly refused.

“You are not a royal guest here! We will decide where to put you. Maybe it is your deeds that are catching up with you! Those you killed are settling their scores.” The warden told her coldly.

Then it became nightly affair. Every night the same scene!

Finally she could take it no more and intervened.

Next night she could not sleep, the hour of haunting came and passed away nothing happened. None of the specters appeared, dawn showed up at due time.

They never returned again.
