Strawberry + pumpkin pie smoothie recipe (Paleo, dairy-free, with protein!)
It's that funny time of year when everyone is so anxious for fall but it was 86 degrees the other day!
Did you know that you can still find the late harvest varieties of fresh Oregon strawberries at your farmer's market or New Seasons?? The Oregon Srawberry Commission asked me to come up with a recipe for late season berries and I thought, you know what I've never seen before?? A healthy strawberry/pumpkin treat!
I make SO many of my slushy all real food protein smoothies these days...

SUPER simple garage organization/tool storage makeover
Our past two garages (that is, both fixer upper house garages) have been totally disastrous and embarrassing. I mean, our townhouse garage wasn't beautiful either, but at least we had three small, organized cabinets of a few tools and paint cans, then room for a car and our full garage gym. Nowadays we have WAY more tools, supplies, yard stuff, and... honestly, unfortunately, books and other random stuff still in boxes... I needed a storage solution! Of course being in the middle of a ren...

4 essential (non-$500) tricks for making pumping easier!
Otto is 5 months old now and I've been back to work for 2 months, and... pumping is NOT fun or big enrichment to my life, but I've found a few essential tricks for making it a lot easier! I think I did struggle with slowing down on milk production when I first went back to work, but it's a huge relief that I was able to get some more milk stored up and keep producing--without taking extra hours out of my day!

Nursery progress and Newton Baby crib mattress review
If you've been following along with our house-selling and house-hunting journey, you know it was really hard for me that I couldn't work on our baby's nursery while I was pregnant! I think most new moms get to do that maybe halfway through the pregnancy? At that point in mine, we were living in my old bedroom at my parents' house with all of our stuff in a storage unit, and then when I was 7.5 months pregnant we moved into a 1-bedroom apartment, so still no nursery.
I found out...

I got the vacuum everyone is so excited about! Pros, cons, how we're using it
It is incredible how EXCITED people get about vacuums. I'm excited, too!! It seems like all of a sudden, I've been hearing SO much about this lightweight, cordless vacuum and everyone is so into it, and I guess it's good timing cause I have an old, dusty house, fall leaves outside, and an almost-mobile baby.

Great modern traditional lighting fixtures under $250
I shared in this post some of the chandeliers/dramatic light fixtures that I'm thinking about for our dining room, and I've been doing a lot of research in that area lately! We are going with a bit of a "modern traditional" style in this home, different than my slightly boho, slightly Cali contemporary look of our last house... a nod to our 1937 home's historic nature but not taking it back to what it used to look like! I love the old + new mix and tons of neutrals in th...

The making of a master bedroom--and how your space can evolve with your style!
Wouldn't it be nice if our bedrooms were always serene, beautiful, and a reflection of our personal style?? Unfortunately many times the master bedroom is the last room to get updated.
Ashley's master bedroom has evolved over the years but her latest update finally merged form and function and made it feel like a real retreat. In this week's episode of the Your Home Story podcast, we talk about her DIYs, splurges, functional improvements, and how the space evolved--and is now her d...

Collage protein-added super easy gluten-free oatmeal!
You hardly need a "recipe" for easy instant oatmeal from scratch, but I have been doing this off and on for months now and just think it is such a good partial breakfast solution I have to share!

I stopped eating oats for many years but have added them back into my diet with no issues, plus they say they can help with breast milk production--big plus for me since I went back to work.
