My Black Friday weekend shopping strategy (and favorite sale items!)
Love/hate Black Friday, anyone??! I don't have tons of time to spend chasing deals, but I do tend to save up shopping during fall waiting for some sales around Thanksgiving. Plus, every year I dream of being done with the Christmas shopping early! So I am doing a little Black Friday shopping this year and sharing my method (and favorite sales) with you!

My fave modern Christmas decorating ideas
It's time!! Christmas decor will surround us soon and I heard this year that people who decorate for Christmas early are happier. But no matter when you do it, I have some ideas for you for decorating for Christmas without a) buying a bunch of new stuff or b) sacrificing your aesthetic or changing up the rest of your house!

My favorite room makeovers from the fall 2018 One Room Challenge
If you've been following along on this blog the past 6 weeks or so, you know I just redid our master bedroom for the fall 2018 One Room Challenge. More than 200 other designers and bloggers did the ORC this season and there are some really good ones! I rounded up my faves here!
This kitchen by Vanessa Francis is so simple and elegant. I love a classic black and white! And that table, I would love one like that in our breakfast nook!

Budget-friendly Thankgiving table decor - hosting our first Thanksgiving dinner!
We are hosting Thanksgiving this year! Our first time ever, at any of our homes. This is our biggest dining room so far and we will be fitting Jason's and my families and us around the table.
I asked on Instagram a while back what you guys wanted to hear about this holiday season, and decorating for Thanksgiving was one of the topics. I put together this beautiful simple, budget-friendly table decor featuring eucalyptus, a few ghost pumpkins, some candles, and fresh leaves--and you can, to...

DIY or Hire Out: Wood Wall Treatments
Seems like wood wall treatments have grown exponentially in popularity the last few years--and that's not just shiplap! It is very cool to see people adding architectural details to rooms that need some extra oomph with paneling, moulding, and other creative applications of wood wall treatments.
This week on the Your Home Story podcast, we're talking about several popular wood wall treatments and which ones you can do yourself! (We did something similar back in episode 15 about wallpap...

Almost done except the closet but stuck: Week 5 of the One Room Challenge
I hit a huge milestone this past week on our One Room Challenge master bedroom: I finished the DIY slipcovered bed!! Slipcover and all! (Huge thanks to both my parents on that project for trading off doing the work and babysitting while I worked!!)
That, and the art is hung and a few other accents are done... the room is almost done!, but now I'm stuck on a few things! Plus, I might tackle some more closet/clothing storage organization, so here are the "before" photos and what we...

Storing and managing fall and winter gear!
Yes, fall is pretty... but with it come rain, mud, bits of leaves stuck to the bottoms of your shoes... and then there's winter, with all the gloves and boots to manage!
You can dream of a beautiful, organized set of built-ins and dedicated mud room, but that's not always an option. Instead, what you can have...

3 high-waisted jeans looks for fall, and mom style
A funny thing happened when I emerged from 9 months of growing a big baby belly last spring: slowly my jeans started to fit again, but I no longer liked any of them because the high-waisted jeans trend was now in full force! (I know people were doing it last year, to, but I am a tiny bit slow on adopting jeans trends! (The 2006 transition to skinnies, anyone?))
Especially as I went back to work in July, I realized I really needed to buy myself some jeans that I felt good in and flattered.
