2020 house projects list
I always like to write a list of our goals for the year for house projects, and look back at the end of the year. This was particularly satisfying for 2019, we got so much done! (See 2019 goals and how we did.) 2020 will be a year for a bigger projects--bigger meaning more expensive, although not as many DIYs.
Warning: embarrassing progress/before photos of our house coming up!!
We will have a ton going on this year, with Jason finishing physical therapy school and taking the board exam, then...

Consistency in decor/finishes/and more throughout a home
I love this topic!!
Where to be consistent with colors, materials, and styles throughout a home, and when to avoid being matchy-matchy? I couldn’t find many resources about this so I dug into it!
This week on the Your Home Story podcast we're republishing episode 8 from 2018, where we talk about the time and place for consistency versus unique elements, and which pieces you can be consistent with and why. It’s not just paint color and lighting; you can show off your style and make it clear that...

Our kitchen Christmas decor and my favorite tradition
This kitchen is making a case for white cabinets still being "in" right now, seriously!! I had so much fun with simpledecorations in it for Christmas and it totally goes with my clean but classic living room and dining room decor this year. Take a look to enjoy this new kitchen in this fun season!

Motivation & building skills for DIY home projects
After our long and painful bathroom renovation this fall... I've felt my energy for DIY projects waning. But it's actually Jason (who I used to have to really lobby to get on board) who keeps me going and feeling good about all the hard work we've been doing and still need to do here.
This week’s episode of the Your Home Story podcast is an interview with Jason!, my partner in DIY renovating and all things. He brings lots of insight for aspiring DIYers/home renovators in this one, including:

On creating family Christmas traditions
Otto will be 20 months old at Christmas this year, and he is such a fun age and getting to really enjoy holiday decor, colors, characters, and new activities. At Halloween he loved the scarecrows we passed at stores and now he loves brightly colored Santas and snowman faces. He also loves our lit-up Christmas tree and the little animal ornaments I just bought this year.
Christmas is a very special time for both of our families, and Jason grew up with (at times 4) other kids in the house and a...
