WoW Friday!

Yay! I cannot say how much I'm looking forward to meeting up and playing. I hope we'll get together at the regular time? The week after next, we can go back to Thursdays.

Everyone, thank you all for the Birthday Greetings to my Mom. She's very touched and happy.

Hundred Years War tonight. Black Death last night - anybody know a website that has pictures of those bizarre tomb-sculptures that started showing up in the later 14th - 15th centuries, where the tomb-ee's had themselves portrayed as ro...

Happy Birthday Mom

It's my mother's 82nd birthday, and since I know she comes here, let's all wish her a happy one, and many more.

Summer at the Drive-In

Full moon, summer night. My neighbors set up projection equipment in their driveway last night and - using their garage door as a screen - showed, for the benefit of all the neighborhood kids, a double-bill of both versions of The Parent Trap - the old Disney version with Hayley Mills, and the Lindsay Lohan remake. They served wine and popcorn and cookies, and set up the portable firepit, and a good old time was had by all. (I live in an extremely kid-friendly neighborhood - where the kids in...

WoW

Last minute cancellation - and I'm hoping the other members of the posse read this.

I'd thought I'd be able to play this evening, but the meds I'm taking in preparation for a benign - if tiresome - procedure in the morning have affected me worse than I'd thought. I really, really will be able to play next Friday, but tonight I'm just not fit for anything.

I'm so sorry, because I've been looking forward to it all week (as an antidote for the procedure in the morning).

Exams

I do try not to mock at my students - this is, after all, not a class in spelling, though after every exam I BEG them to go to the Student Learning Center and fluff up their spelling skills. (And mine is nothing to write home about).

However: "Spartan children were taught to be great worriers."  *sigh*

Some are almost incomprehensible. I sure hope they get that straightened out before they're out there filling out job applications.

Only three turned in papers about "300."

Can I go back to Azerot...

WoW Friday - Not

My apologies! Turns out I'll have to skip this week of WoW entirely. Nothing serious or bad, but a Real World committment. Next Friday for sure!

School so far

I'm thoroughly entertained by the fact that the District seems to have taken a page from Blizzard's book and established a variation of issuing one-time numeric "electronic signatures" to do any official business on-line (like issue grades or drop no-shows), very like the Authenticator that double-deadlocks your WoW account. Though, considering the havoc a hacker could work getting into the grading area of the District site, it's probably about frakking time.

Came on-campus to see the total vi...

Two questions...?

First, is there any way I can disable those complete obnoxious "here's what everybody else is doing on LJ" ads that now pop up when I go into my own page. It used to be there'd be just the latest messages on my blog, which was fine, it let me see if there was anything new. Now it's these ads for "OMGod" (or whatever the blog they're promoting is)... horrible. Can I disable that "feature"?

Second question. As I mentioned, during the festivities Sunday my microwave oven croaked - and the microwa...

Family Thing

An absolutely magical Family Backyard Picnic for the 4th (sorry, Westercon...). Demolished 3 large CostCo rotisserie chickens and any amount of hard cider, Newcastle Pale Ale and orcish thunderbrew (a.k.a. virtual beer); played croquet with nieces and nephews while the Nephews smoked out by the tea-house and Academic Nephew's Academic Ladyfriend slept on a blanket in the shade of a birch-tree. Much thwacking of balls into the rose-garden and threats of, "If you hit my ball out you'll go to He...

Still further adventures

Yay! Deb got the website sorted out, and Further Adventures is back up and running!

And, Barbara Hamilton tells me she finished her (embarassingly late) Abigail #3 manuscript - Sup With the Devil - and will drop it into the ether to the editor in the morning, double yay! (And has just gotten galleys for Marked Man!)

Family 4th of July Picnic coming up WAY soon... And the Yard Sale Stuff that folks assured me was going to be gone by today (so I can put my car back into the garage) turns out, wil...
