If my books were not fact-based, the colorful characters I've written about wouldn't have very believable names. In Sins of the Pioneers, I told of the gossipy Hezekiah Snapp, a name Charles Dickens would've loved. In that same book I mentioned cranky Mrs. Crick, whose full name was Permelia Brown Tongue Dent Crick. The latest true-life character I've written about bears the unfortunate name of Fanny Fatzinger.
