Stephen Wade was born in Leeds and educated at the universities of Wales and Leeds.

He taught in further and higher education for many years, and this was followed by six years as a writer working in prisons.

He has written over fifty books, mainly in non-fiction, and he also lectures part-time at the University of Hull.

Calvert Again!

Sometimes, as a true crime writer, a case takes hold of you and won't let go. This is the situation with one of the chapters in my book, Murder in Mind. In that, I deal with the Leeds case of Louie Calvert, hanged at Strangeways in 1926 for the murder of her friend and landlady. I still believe that she was not guilty of murder.
