COMING SOON

I'm not going to be able to keep up this book-a-year thing forever, but I'm certainly not complaining. It's a novel again. Release date March 29. The Australian Outback. Montana. Idaho. Sex. Secrets. Cowboys. The women who hold it all together:

Jagged Edge of the Sky

If you've read any of my books, you've read about my father. He and his indomitable imagination and creative spirit have provided for me a library full of idiosyncrasies to parody, snatch, and otherwise requisition for my quirky characters. Jagged Edge of the Sky, however, is the book that took him most into consideration, as the father character Edmonds Tuor is a blatant caricature of my daddy. Edmonds carries the same childspirit and lighthearted approach to living juxtaposed by a globe-sized work ethic that belonged to my father.

It's only a problem in need of a solution. That was Dad's response to just about any question.

Perhaps because of him, perhaps because of the way he brought me up to always take the harder, most intriguing, most educational path to finding those solutions, my writing can be . . . complicated. I've heard that people have thrown my books across the floor in consternation. I always take the hard road in life, and I shamelessly lead my readers down tough paths, too. I think it's good for us.

I say all this to prepare readers. Jagged Edge of the Sky is guaranteed to leave you scratching your head. The further you go, the more connections you make, but they are not hand-fed. Oh no. I'll make you pick up that rock pile one pebble at a time. These sixteen characters are going to tremble your foundation.

How do I know this? For starters, there are no exclamation marks. Not one. Why? I'm hoping you'll be able to figure that out.

You'll also notice that time makes weird wishy-washy moves. Sometimes it folds back on itself like origami. Sometimes it hopscotches.

Other things will give you a wishy-washy, stomach-in-the-air feeling in Jagged Edge of the Sky. For instance, the sex scenes. Call it literary squirming.

The book goes on sale Mar. 29 and will be available through all retail outlets, both brick-and-mortar and online. I will be looking for early readers to write reviews, enter a drawing for free copies of the book, and participate in the Facebook Early Readers book club. I can also come to your area to hold signings, readings, workshops---whatever your group, creative writing class, or local bookstore might like. If any of these things interest you, please email me at coom1286@hotmail.com!
