Teresa R. Kemp Be relentless. God gave you the story and don't be afraid of rejection. They did get the vision. Some publishers even passed on Harry Potter.
Teresa R. Kemp The biggest satisfaction of being a writer is getting lost international history and cultural information out of my head alone and available to the new generations who are not learning to write in cursive!
Teresa R. Kemp Great Question! I would travel back to ancient Kemet (Egypt) to see and travel along to better document the migrations of the West African tribes to the East. I want to find out where the pyramid building Egyptians went. (Bantu speaking peoples in particular, Igbo & Ghanaians) They traveled from East Africa to West Africa with their faith in tack prior to the colonization's of Portuguese, Spanish, French, British, German, American and Italians.

It is my theory that some traveled by land and others went by sea to Asia or South America and built pyramids worldwide. (There were 10 pyramids in Nigeria until the British came in the early 1900's. They were destroyed by 1940 and the majority of West Africans and people worldwide do not have any knowledge of West African pyramids!

They had Torah, still make plant based indigo dyes; circumcise and name on the 8th day. Metalsmiths in Awka Nigeria, they still do the lost-wax process. Like John the Baptist, Nigerians still eat locust roasted or fried!

They do 250+ things I document in my book, Keeper of the Fire an Igbo Metalsmith From Awka; as being Jewish or Hebrew.

I am born and raised in Germany and grew up with Jewish artifacts and culture being revived following WWII.
Teresa R. Kemp I apologize for being so late answering we are now into fall & winter reading list.

I am an avid researcher. I am currently in Tulsa OK so I am reading books on the 1921 Tulsa OK Black Wall Street & 1906 Atlanta GA massacres.

I am also researching the Benin Bronze and the Hebrew connection of my West African ancestry.

I am researching areas where my co-author & I will be visiting with KJ Williams co-author of Keepers of the Secret Code. Dallas TX, Columbus OH, Los Angeles CA, Charleston SC, Daytona Beach FL, Long Beach CA.

We are doing book signing across the United States in 2022. I bring historic documents, photos, wills, census records, slave valuements showing the proofs of my abolitionist ancestors lives and UGRR efforts.
Teresa R. Kemp The Hebrew alphabet on a Benin Bronze Bracelet in my West African artifact collection. Day before yesterday in Tulsa OK at a book signing in front of Elenore's Bookstore an eleven year old boy showed me a Hebrew on a bracelet I have owned for decades. It has been viewed and examined by thousands of people. No one ever saw it !

"It is a Taf", the child's father agreed. I was over joyed and amazed. This is a mystery in my life and one I plan to solve. Join me in the effort. They read 10 more alphabets on a raffia textile from Ghana I had on the table under the bracelet!

He said he and his 6 yr. old brother knew the alphabets because they were Jewish and attended the Hebrew school (Mizel Jewish Community Day School) in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Benin Bronze was done with the lost-wax-process. (originally done in East Africa) The bronze pieces were stolen from the Oba of Benin's compound in 1897 by a British war expedition. They have been sold worldwide for centuries.
Teresa R. Kemp I get inspired when I look at what we were able to do in the past with proceeds from our exhibits and presentations. We sold copies of the book Hidden in Plain View at our program before the Worldwide Organization of Women (United Nations program). We gave the proceeds from the sale to the Women's organization and this video shows what resulted!

Here is a link to a bridge my family & I helped build from the sale of the book about our family titled "Hidden in Plain View" by J. Tobin & R. Dobard.

My mother spoke in Salt Lake City, Utah for the Worldwide Organization of Women's Program (United Nations Program) and sold we sold the book.

We gave the funds generated to the organization to assist in building this bridge in our ancestral homeland. Village children and women were dying weekly trying to cross to go to school and market. When I see this video, I get motivated all over again... Let me know if you get motivated too.

I am Still A Bridge Builder!

Teresa R. Kemp I am currently working on understanding E-books. I am determined to convert my "Jamel's Deep Sea Adventure into a Kindle file format before the end of the year.

The next step is to understand technology and give our readers and sensory experience by adding music and sounds and audio to the books.

Technology is ever changing and as long as we are willing to learn new things we will be forever young. I want to reach the widest possible audience and on-line or e-books give those who were home bound or hospitalized (like I have been), the world at their fingertips!

Though I am from the pen and paper generation, I must break out of old stereotypes and keep learning. My late mother left me one instruction.....

Teresa R. Kemp I have had to deal with writers block off and on for many years. I didn't come up with a way to get over it, life kept getting in my way. My health challenges of colon cancer impacted my ability to keep my museum open, research, write and care for myself.

After I begin to recover, another set back with congestive heart failure, then my parents died! We....I had waited too long. My parents and I had been researching, traveling, collecting and writing for over 25 years. We had never published our work in books, but did historic presentations and gave out parts of it to patrons of our exhibits. With my parents gone, there is no one else who has the information. While my memory is back (chemo brain has cleared), I can type! I have to hurry and try to get the books out.

I have been advised, it is not wise to put out so many books at one time. I now know, I don't have unlimited time. Since it is not about profit they will be published as soon as I can finish them. I must make sure our culture and heritage are accurately documented, for the future generations, whenever they are completed.

I will have spoken for the voiceless. I will tell their story and you will see the majesty of their works and love of our faith, family and service to mankind. On those, there is never a time limit.

You must feel that what you write about is important and is needed. Get up every day with a renewed passion to deliver what is in your heart. When you have writer's block...pretend you are telling me the information. You can email me if you like and run it by me. You matter and so do your experiences, thoughts and ideas. Your work is just what someone needs and they are waiting on it. On to your success!

We have chosen education as a bridge to understanding.

Teresa R. Kemp My European history is well documented and undisputed to the year 149AD. The Underground Railroad Quilt Code, its use, and origins are hotly disputed. Following the book Hidden In Plain View, Quilters & the academic communities both were left with many questions and doubts. This book contains the answers for both groups.
