I wondered what we would be like, as humans, if we went to space. One the one hand, we would really have to pull together to achieve space travel. On the other hand, we can be incredibly horrible to each other when we are fighting over resources. And when an author has a question, they answer it by diving in through fiction (or, for me and others, non-fiction from time to time)

I'd love to write it but the reality is that my publisher doesn't want to. If, by some miracle, books 5and6 start selling again, they might consider it. But right now it's not likely. Sorry. But thanks for the great question!

I've always loved space, and I wanted to do a science fiction book. I also wondered what kind of colony we'd actually put into space - and a mining colony made the most sense.
Of course, we fight wars over minerals here on Earth... so why would that be different in space?

Sorry it's taken me so long to see this. I've had a lifelong love for science, spending huge amount of each summer at the Air and Space Museum in DC for example. So the book is more an assemblage of bits and pieces I've picked up over the intervening 40 years.
I am also interested in how mining works here on earth and worried about whether some of those same practises will continue in space.
Of course, while writing the first draft I would constantly try to check out what NASA (for example) has planned for space travel, tear-forming, and so on.
