Right now I'm working on a novel for children, inspired by the story of Beowulf in terms of the relationship between the monster Grendel and his demon mother. And I do mean inspired only. It's taken a turn all of its own.

My recently re-published historical novel - Wild Latitudes - is set mainly in Dunedin during the Gold Rush years. My first NZ forbears arrived in Dunedin in the 1840s and I have a slew of old family stories about the witty and batty entrepreneurial non-conservatives of that century. I also studied classic English novels at Otago University. Wild Latitudes is an offspring of that background.
