Mr. Goodfellow, I really, really enjoyed your book Collector of Secrets, so much so that after reading it in ebook I bought a print copy of it. I heard there a sequel, Redeemer of Secrets, that had been due to come out back in 2018. I haven't seen of its publication yet, so I wondered if you still intended to release it? If not, that'd be a shame, though I understand the vagaries of life can get in the way.

Redeemer of Secrets is fully mapped out and about 1/3 of it is written, but as you noted ... life does get in the way sometimes. My goal is to complete it in the next few years once a few other large projects are wrapped up.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Richard Goodfellow The idea had been in my head since I lived in Japan in the early 90s, it just took a lot of years to figure out the specific historical moments in which to tie it ... but once that 'aha' moment hit, it flew onto the pages.

How do you get inspired to write?
Richard Goodfellow I plan many of the chapters well in advance and organize basic information and then let it simmer in my brain for a while before I ever have to write the chapter (the subconscious is a powerful tool). Also, before I write, I play the same piece of music which puts my brain in the correct frame to write. It could be any same, but keep it consistent.

Richard Goodfellow I'm currently working on the sequel to 'Collector of Secrets'.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Richard Goodfellow Just get out there and do it. Write what you would enjoy reading and you'll find an audience.

Richard Goodfellow Travel for research related to my books.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Richard Goodfellow I force myself to keep working for the amount of time that I've decided in advance. Even if the end result is not satisfying, if you don't push through you won't have that 'aha' moment when you look again at what you've written. Basically, push-through it.
